21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my 3 year disaster ( sorry for the big pics) on: June 28, 2007 07:19:03 PM
this hat has been a NIGHTMARE! everything that could go wrong has. I got the supplies 3 years ago, at the time I was told it was an easy project, which , in fact it is, but I was still at the point where I was having to count my stitches every row, and my tension was a mess. Plus I'd never used a pattern. so over the years I've picked it up now and again and enevitably something goes horribly horribly wrong, I FINALLY finished it! and guess what? it's way way to big, of course. But it's finished, and it's the first thing I have ever knit from a pattern, and the the first thing I have ever made that's not a scarf. so despite that fact that it is big, and frankly ugly ( it's meant to be more of a beanie type shape, not worn as a beret as I am having to do)  I shall share.   I think were I to do it again, I would do all one colour, and obviously make it smaller. it would probably only take like an hour or so, now that I have figured it out. we shall see.

that  is so creative! and very impressive! it's one thing to come up with an creative idea, it's quite another to make it happen!! good for u!

HAHAH while the skirt IS awsome ( I love a nice full skirt like that) it is made doubly fantastic by you're boy's expressions! priceless!

cute! as soon as I saw the first I thought it might be fun to modify it a tiny bit and make the sleeves a different color, and attach little spagetti straps over top, make it look like you're wearing a cute little tank over a tee.. i'm not entirely sure it would work,but could be very fun!

thanks penlowe ! I agree that the chain makes sense, I'm just not entirely feeling it, I like the idea of of something velvety though.. I must experiment.

I have this awesome purse http://picasaweb.google.com/em.a.bee/Purse/photo#5080106740737584162 but the handle just isn't working for me,  it's too short to wear over my shoulder comfortably and I don't deal well with having to carry things ( I have a tendency to leave said things on counters,etc)  So I would like to replace the handle with something that works better for me but I have no idea what to use that isn't going to look bad ? I don't think I want to do a chain again, but I don't know if fabric will look right? anyone have any input?
