21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my 3 year disaster ( sorry for the big pics) on: June 28, 2007 07:19:03 PM
this hat has been a NIGHTMARE! everything that could go wrong has. I got the supplies 3 years ago, at the time I was told it was an easy project, which , in fact it is, but I was still at the point where I was having to count my stitches every row, and my tension was a mess. Plus I'd never used a pattern. so over the years I've picked it up now and again and enevitably something goes horribly horribly wrong, I FINALLY finished it! and guess what? it's way way to big, of course. But it's finished, and it's the first thing I have ever knit from a pattern, and the the first thing I have ever made that's not a scarf. so despite that fact that it is big, and frankly ugly ( it's meant to be more of a beanie type shape, not worn as a beret as I am having to do)  I shall share.   I think were I to do it again, I would do all one colour, and obviously make it smaller. it would probably only take like an hour or so, now that I have figured it out. we shall see.

cute! as soon as I saw the first I thought it might be fun to modify it a tiny bit and make the sleeves a different color, and attach little spagetti straps over top, make it look like you're wearing a cute little tank over a tee.. i'm not entirely sure it would work, but could be very fun!

thanks penlowe ! I agree that the chain makes sense, I'm just not entirely feeling it, I like the idea of of something velvety though.. I must experiment.

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / handle advice on: June 25, 2007 01:54:12 PM
I have this awesome purse http://picasaweb.google.com/em.a.bee/Purse/photo#5080106740737584162 but the handle just isn't working for me,  it's too short to wear over my shoulder comfortably and I don't deal well with having to carry things ( I have a tendency to leave said things on counters, etc)  So I would like to replace the handle with something that works better for me but I have no idea what to use that isn't going to look bad ? I don't think I want to do a chain again, but I don't know if fabric will look right? anyone have any input?
