121  Re: Mounting T-shirts for wall display - suggestions? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by SpottedFrog on: August 18, 2007 09:31:13 PM
I have a tee shirt quilt from college- it's queen sized and quite warm when the weather calls for an extra layer on the bed. I also made one for my husband.

I did not use the pattern that's available from (Simplicity, maybe?) I worked in a shop that did them (among other things).

my quilt, tees plus extra applique letters & some machine embroidery.

hubby's quilt, the little bits were pocket or small designs from front & back tees.

122  altered tag swap practice in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by SpottedFrog on: August 16, 2007 08:48:02 PM
So i was messing around with a number of techniques & such & trying to formulate ideas about what I wanted to do for my partners. These came out to my satisfaction, but not suited to my partners (I don't think anyway).

I think this one is my favorite...because home-ec is win!

I've had this little guy & his accompanying poem for quite a while- I'm happy with his new home.

EDITED to announce:
These are available for trade- PM if you are interested.

123  First real ATC in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by SpottedFrog on: August 16, 2007 08:41:51 PM
Been fiddling around with the size, but the first several creations wound up being little tiny books instead- this one I managed to make it just a card. I used a baseball card! I think the theme bodes well...

squeeeeeeeal of delight! I love Verity! She is precious! She has a place of honor among the smaller scale members of my collection. (Ok, it's not all frogs above my desk) The taller frog in the back with fangs is "Frogula". Tree tree really had me & my girls pegged right!

And the extra? way too cute as well!

Yup! tu-tu's for my girls!! They will be wearing them for days!
thankyouthankyoutha nkyou!!!

Of course now every time I swap they will expect something for them too....

125  not pretty but very functional in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by SpottedFrog on: August 03, 2007 02:30:57 PM
There was a thread about how to organize a while back. I described my system then but didn't know how to put up pics at the time.

Yes, I really need to finish up & put away the foot deep pile of UFO's & leftover supplies on my desk....

Here's the low down, I learned this system from a place I worked. Hanging files are fabulous for keeping fabric.

This is one of the "little pieces" drawers. I used extra deep folders with sides and put all the little bits in by color. The other half of the rainbow is in the next drawer up. You can see a little bit of one of the "big pieces" drawers below. They are single fabrics in each folder.

My pattern drawer, sorted by Ladies dresses, Ladies seperates, Ladies costumes, etc.

The portion of my work space where the file cabints live.

I took two legs off my table and there are two filing cabinets back to back supporting the end of my desk. all my fabric is in the 4-high & the 2-high that you see with patterns & other stuff in the 2-high you can't see (to the right).

127  I set out to make an ATC, but I think it's a book... in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by SpottedFrog on: August 01, 2007 11:32:07 AM
ATC's are new to me, but I was immediately fascinated. I started a few that were just...blah. I needed a theme. And then I stared flipping through one of my nana's sketch books, she did tiny little studied for her painting...inspirat ion struck.
Here is my ATC/ book.

128  girly painted walls in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by SpottedFrog on: August 01, 2007 08:02:01 AM
Again, I'm mostly just honing my new found posting-with-pictures skills.

I originally painted my daughters room the two shades of blue with a border down the center of white eyelet and pink ribbon that was almost 6 inches wide. The eyelet & ribbon had been super cheap in their quantity and it was really pretty...except the destructo-bot that my sweet looking (then) two year old is kept peeling it off the walls...

So a more permanent solution was needed. Paint, lots of it.

Was fun and easy, did the whole room in about 4 hours. I'd start with one flower base color & work around the room at random intervals. Then I went through the other colors one by one. Had to go back through my colors a second time to fill in gaps here & there. Then I did the green "swirlies" stems & leaves. Then the flower highlight colors. By the time I finished one set of colors the first wall would be dry & I could just keep circling and painting.

129  Fixing a stain the dramatic way in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by SpottedFrog on: July 31, 2007 08:26:53 AM
Ok, this is mostly practice in posting pictures, but I've empolyed this method several times.

Basicly I'm just painting over the stain (because I suck at laundry & after everything I tried it was still there). I used the same colors and motif from the coordinating top, permant fabric markers & regular craft paint.

If my pictures suck, are wonky, etc. please tell me! I need all the technical help I can get.

In the process:
