4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: I heard this is illegal (acrylic nails) And glitter tips! on: January 10, 2008 09:44:30 AM
WOW~ everyone thank you!!! I am glad to share these!! I have about a million more!!!

ok i really like the way this looks but i was wondering... what is an acryilic nail... and gel resin.. and accelorator... ya lol

Acrylic nails is a mix of two different products... The monomer (liquid) and the polymer (powder) You use a sable hair nail brush and dip it in the monomer, then dip the tip into the polymer so you get a ball formed at the end of your brush... The two mixed together create a catalyst and you only have about a minute to form the shape you want before it hardens for good. The Gel Resin and Accelerator are also nail products that arent as strong as acrylic but it is good for strenghtening natural nails and doing stuff like what has been done in this post. You get these at beauty supply stores like Sallys and such. I went to nail school so it is kind of hard to understand if you haven't studied it, but it gets easier once you know the basics.
