1  Embarking on the most awesome dress ever, need tips and techniques :) in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by tynwia on: May 24, 2012 05:31:05 PM
I have a young gentleman friend who is going to see Wicked at the end of June. He has commissioned me to make him Elphaba's Act II dress to wear. I am going to make the bodice and teach him some sewing techniques so that he can make the skirt so he can afford it.
Does anyone have any tips or technique hints that would help in making this? I'm mostly worried about fitting him since most patterns are made for women. Any patterns you can suggest? I would say I have slightly above moderate sewing skills. In no way an expert Wink Thanks in advance!!
Here is a picture of the costume

2  MLP Prototype in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by tynwia on: April 13, 2012 06:26:59 AM
I bought the MLP pattern from vallyviolet on etsy and my daughter and I whipped one up over spring break. The pattern wasn't too hard to follow. I am embroidering eyes for her right now. I cannot wait to make more!

3  Who doesn't want to be a Dalek??? in Halloween Costumes by tynwia on: November 07, 2011 04:21:43 AM
Costume I made for my daughter this year. She is in the Doctor Who club at MSU. I had one weekend to work on it so I didn't have time to shots of it and had to rely on her to get some.... college students anyway, they don't listen lol Smiley

The Dalek ears are shot glasses.

There was a tulle pouf for underneath but she said it made her butt look too big and made her legs itchy so she didn't wear it.

6  Old Ugly Dresser to Awesome Shabby Chic Entertainment Center in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tynwia on: August 02, 2011 04:15:34 PM
I had this old short ugly broken (I broke it) entertainment center that we started using after we moved. It worked but it was UGLY!

See what I'm talking about there in the corner....ignore the cheating ex boyfriend of my daughters......

So when we moved into this house there was this old ugly dresser left behind that my BF wanted to throw out. NO WAY!! It was very well built and we used it for my youngest for a while. So when my oldest daughter went off to the Navy I stole her dresser because it was awesome and moved the youngest into my old dresser (which we painted and made girly for her. I'll post that later). As we were moving it out of the house I noticed that the top drawers were about the same size as the DVD player........A light bulb went off! BF thought I was crazy (he always does until I'm done).

Ugly old thing! It had layers of white, blue and purple paint and the laminate was coming off the top. I knocked out the support piece between the two upper drawers and the one between the two bottom drawers and a few hours of sanding, priming and painting later.....

Boooyah!!!! Pretty new shabby chic looking entertainment center! Makes the rest of the living room look blah now... I had better get to work updating everything else!

Please tell me what the dino is made from, it is certainly no polymer clay i have ever come across...
Umm... well actually it's just paint. I cut the dino from cardboard and dumped paint on him and set it in front of the fan to dry. It was some really old paint I had but the perfect color and I was at a loss as to what to do to make him look like a balloon... I actually tried a balloon but I soon found out that balloons and glue don't cooperate at all. I always have these great ideas that I find out later aren't so great lol. I love to use things in a new way Smiley

Here is an ATC from gozer that I totally forgot to post! I've had it a while Sad
Fairy House

I love the little raindrop window in the door and that is not all....

The door opens revealing the inside of the house!!!!!!
I really adore it!!!! Thanks gozer. Smiley
