Pinokeeo, that tiny turtle is just perfect: the colors, the details, the size... You are inspiring me to stop cleaning and organizing and start carving!

That's exactly what I did.  I was supposed to be working on organizing my shop and I found my tiny animal blanks.

oh my goodness...that tiny turtle is just so cute!!  holy cow...it is really small...how did you even see to do it?  Love the little tail!

The problem wasn't being able to see it.  It was being able to hang onto it.  It's very tiny and it was hard to hang onto.  I couldn't use my carving glove because it was too bulky.  If I decide to do this again, I'm going to tape my first finger.  I was scared that I was going to slice into it.  I still have blanks cut to do a cat, dog, elephant and pig, so I have to try something different.

Love the steampunk jewelry and all the mini quilts.  You all are making great progress already this year.

I have one new item that I made today.  It's my smallest carving yet, I think.  My baby turtle, carved with only a knife.

Bookstorebabe and Smeddley, thanks for the ideas.  I'll be checking in when I get some results, and hopefully I will find some other things to use for dyes.

Wow, so many great projects.  I love to see all the sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlework.  All things that I don't do, but admire others for doing it.

I haven't been doing much crafting because I am purging my workshop of everything from the past and starting over with new ideas.  My gourds are just about ready for carving, and I've been cutting carving blanks from walnut.  I've also sorted out all of my paper crafts, as well as some fabrics for new rugs.  I have some new roving that I am going to try to dye using naturals.  I've been saving onion skins from red onions.  I'll let you all know what the results are.

Well, I think they are both cute.

I can't wait to see some of your projects.  Steampunk and all.

Nice journal pages.  I see one there from Oregon.  Yay!  And your little fox is adorable.

Thank you!
I love Oregon. I live there, here, er... Grin. I had to go with the popular "heart in Oregon" theme but added the key because my kids were all born here too. Oregon rocks. I'm just sayin'. Wink

I live here too, and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Another item that was late for Christmas.  I actually finished this one on January 2.  I had started it last year, after my surgery.  I put it aside, not knowing how I wanted to finish it off.  Somebody asked me if I could insert something in it for a baby, so I added a small carved heart with the baby's name and year date.  I know it's hard to see, but it's just hanging inside the ornament.

And the lucky recipient of said ornament.  He is the sweetest baby and is almost nine months.

Love the tiara and the embellished keys.

And Mio, that blanket is still very pretty, even if you aren't thrilled with it.  Somebody's gonna love receiving that one.  It has happy colors in it.
