1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: piano arm clock on: August 17, 2014 12:22:57 PM
They are fun to make, but take a long time.  I have about 47 hours in this one.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / piano arm clock on: August 16, 2014 08:25:09 AM
This is my second time making a piano arm clock.  I redesigned it so that the middle is scooped out for the clock hands.  It keeps perfect time.

You might also want to try cherry or walnut.  You need to strop your knives a little more, but the results are worth it.

I just scored a piece of butternut that I will be carving for the first time.  I'll post when I have something from that.

Yeah, plywood is hard to carve in.  If you can get some basswood, sugar pine or tupelo, they are great woods for carving.

You did a great job on this anyway.  It looks really smooth.

Wow!  Everything is so beautiful, the shibori fabric, note cards, mosaic, pendants, stencils, and everything else that I've lost track of.  You all are on a roll.

My latest projects.

The first is my second piano clock.  I redesigned it, with a shallow dip in the middle for the clock hands.

The second project was a simple one.  I made a talking stick for my Native American friend En Ne Op eh, who is the head of the Three Feathers flute circle.  She gifted me a flute awhile back, so I wanted to make something special for her.

Yum!  Those sausages get my vote, especially with sweet onions.

Love the quilts and that dress is adorable.

The kids won't be finishing them until Labor Day weekend, but I will post photos of the finished tiles.  I'm excited to see what they do with them.

Thanks for the kirigami links, AIMR.  I am so far behind on my paper crafting.

My latest projects that actually are finished.

First, I made dice.  These are woodburned and so easy to make.  I'll probably include them in some of my homemade games.

My second items is a board challenge entry.  I'm calling this Sidewalk Scrabble.  I cut and sanded all the pieces and stencilled on the letters and number values.  I'll be taking these to another location where the kids will be painting the letters on, then they will play scrabble on a basketball court.

There are 100 tiles in the set, and the two blanks are included.

For size reference.  I'll probably make another set of these in a smaller version for myself and my family.

I don't know if you can read this.  It says, play scrabble.

This was a fun project and it only took one day to make these.

I'm loving all the projects.  I'm working on things, just don't have photos yet.
