Is the ball wood as well?  If so, now it makes sense how you did it! Grin

wow--the days are going to fly by!

Not only is the ball wood, it was part of the pin at one time.  It was all one piece and I carved out the ball so that it moves within the confines of the ribs of the pin.

It looks like a puzzle...like how did the ball get in there?

What a fun project!  I was a champion bowler when I was younger!  It would make for a nice display or prize!

When is the big day?  Congrats, btw!

You are the second person to bring that up about getting the ball in there.  It's so funny to me.  I thought about making it part of a trophy, but I don't bowl anymore and don't know anyone who does.  So I guess it's just a conversation piece.

Wedding date is September 19.  Coming up fast.  Most of our plans are already in place, so now it's just doing final touches and such.

Hey Y'all.  I've been really busy with wedding plans.  Less than a month to go, but I'm lovin' all the awesome projects here.

Not much crafting for me, but here's a project that I just finished.  A bowling pin with the bowling ball trapped inside.  All carved from one piece of wood.

The box came lovely! It has a bit of a classy feel to it  Wink Did you add any lining to the inside? If not, red velvet would really go well with the box.  Grin

Yeah, I think I'm going to line it, although I was thinking of black felt.

So sorry to hear of you problems, Kookaloo, but it sounds like things are looking up.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Matt.

I made this box, but now I don't know what to do with it.  I made it just to see if it would turn out, and it's better than I expected.  The top is entirely of plywood veneer pieces.  I've discovered that you can make almost anything out of shop scraps.  The lines that you see are in the wood.  I blackwashed it, then varnished.

Thanks.  On the inside of the spoon it looks like a panda bear.  On the back it looks like a crab.

My latest spoon.  Double Celtic twist in spalted alder.

I'd love to post "out there", but there isn't really a truly appropriate place to put woodworking.

Sorry I've been away for so long.  I've been really busy and not crafting.  I did take time to carve a couple of soup mugs.  These took forever to carve, but I'm happy with the results.

The wood is figured poplar, and I based the size on a regular soup mug, so I'm guessing they will hold a pint of soup.  They are going to Renaissance Faire with us in a couple of weeks.

I made some potion bottles today.  These are 1.25 inches high.  I used glitter glue and snow crystals for my potions.  And the plugs are cut up pencils.  Hokey, but I like them.
