1  Re: Friend of Craftster Raffle Rd 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Trekky on: June 19, 2014 05:36:17 AM
I have received!  A beautiful necklace from anna.wahnsinn, plus a wee notecard (with a Hans Christian Andersen quote on the back - I am a big H.C.Andersen fan!  Smiley).  It was the mystery parcel that should have arrived on Tuesday, but I just missed the postman.

Here is me attempting a selfie wearing it (selfies are harder than you think!).

Thank you Anna - it is lovely!  Smiley

I finished the crochet bag for the raffle (I actually finished at the weekend, but was putting off the sewing it up).  I really enjoyed making this, I hope it finds a happy home!

3  All is full of love - heart cards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Trekky on: May 08, 2014 11:56:54 AM
I have attempted some quilling, it was good fun, although I did managed to get an awful lot of glue on my fingers!  Cheesy

I used this excellent tutorial to guide me.

I used both of these as cards for friends getting married.

And for mrTrekky's valentines card this year, I opted for a bit of simple back stitch.  I made a template of paper, and used a needle to press in holes around it on the card, before threading with embroidery thread.

Although I completely forgot how much thread back stitch uses, hence the two knots on the underside!

C&C welcome  Smiley

4  Stripy baby Cardigan in Knitting: Completed Projects by Trekky on: March 02, 2014 01:58:06 PM
I saw this super cute pattern and knew that I had to make one.  I used a variegated sock yarn and a plain one (I used my first Regia).  I found some buttons in my stash jar that fitted perfectly - hurrah!

I like how the yarns work together, it would be great to have an adult sized one!

5  Pizza base Polystyrene Print Christmas Cards in Winter Holidays by Trekky on: December 21, 2013 03:54:14 AM
For this years Christmas Cards I printed using the polystyrene that you get at the bottom of shop brought pizza.  I used a craft knife to cut out festive shapes, and using a pencil marked on indents (for the birds eye & tree decorations).  I got to work printing using some acrylic paint, and then using pen added details.

Happy Holidays everyone!

7  I'm finally ready for Winter with a POM-POM hat! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Trekky on: December 07, 2013 02:39:29 AM
I have had a bad case of pom-pom hat jealousy!  Everywhere I go I seem to see chunky knitted hats with pom-poms, so was desperate to make my own.  I used Tofino Surfer pattern by tincanknits.

I used two strands of double knit yarn held together (and managed to use up all my scrap yarn left from my granny square blanket). My gauge was a bit off so I followed the child / slouch pattern (my head isn't really that small!).

I am really happy with how it turned out (hence the toothy grin!).  I shall be wearing it all winter!

What cuties!  They look so inquisitive.  And I have learnt something new... what a rat boggle is (and have just spent the last 20mins or so watching youtube videos!).  I hope Scruffy is doing well, it sounds like you are giving her great care.  How old are your rats?  Do they all live in the same cage?

More about my beasts.  They are rescue guinea pig brothers. I have had them for just over 2 years, and I guess that they were about 6mths old when we got them.  They were originally called Tom & Jerry, but I felt this implied a hierarchy ( Cheesy), so they got renamed, Mark & Jeremy (after the tv show, Peep Show - I previously had guinea pigs named after characters in the tv show Porridge).  They are very much best of friends, and often sleep cuddled up with each other.

Mark is the grumpiest guinea pig I have ever had!  When he wants to he can be lovely, will sleep on your lap, lick your fingers and snuggle up.  But when doesn't, he will give me a barge with his nose, teeth chatter, bite & even pee on me!  He had a bladder stone removed earlier this year, and was quite unwell, and gave us a little bit of a fright.  But now he is back to his grumpy self!  Here he is being guinea pig shamed!

Jeremy is lovely.  He is a quite a soppy guinea pig, who is also a bit of a scaredy cat with a big appetite.  He is not the brightest, but he super sweet.  Here he is looking very clean after his yearly bath...
