So Most breastfeeding/nursing shirts cost major $$$. Like 40.00 or more. Ridiculous! So I looked at them for ages on amazon and various websites to get an idea how they work. I came up with a plan to make my own.

I've bought some more shirts to make 2 more. I will have the best fall/summer nursing wardrobe ever in a very short time. Just need to find more shirts to use!

We;ve been cloth diapering for about a 4 weeks now. I love it but sadly the kind we picked(prefolds) do not usually come in cute colors or prints. So as a crafty momma I took matters into my own hands. And using this tutorial:

And only modifying size I made some prefolds with this cute fabric I got at walmart! I also used microfiber along with the terry cloth in the center for extra absorbency.
I finally located some pins so I can show them off!


You use them with a water proof cover so they don't wick on to baby's clothes which is what she's sitting on. I had to leave it open so you could see the diaper.

I had a baby in august and she is great. But like many babies there are days when she just wants to be held. And this mommy has to get things done. We also opted for a convertable car seat instead of the traditional infant bucket seat system. So I need ed a way to take her places when shopping and such.

So I needed a carrier. I'm a thrifty person and could not see spending 40.00 or more on something I could make and may or may not like in the long run.
I had mcalls pattern 5678(i think) and made this:


I use it all the time and it's so nice to have Norrie close and not worry about people touching her when I go out.

I'm not considering this a reconstruction since I left the item itself fairly intact just customized it.
Clock base was something the hubs and I have had for awhile (I suspect we bought it nearly 6 years ago when we got married).

I took off the little black hash marks that made it impossible to read, replaced them with number stickers, and added the grey cardstock vine background. I cut out the cardstock part with an xacto knife after printing the image on the back.
It is adhered to the base with small pieces of double stick tape.


It was a fairly simple project that took maybe an hour total if that. And most of that was cutting out the cardstock background and prying the back off the double stick tape! lol

Our baby's room is fantasy themed and I think this will fit in nicely. I'd love to know what you think about it!

So I have tried everything I can think of and have ripped this thing our like 3 times all ready. I would really like to succeed in this project. Ok here goes.
I am working on a top that has elastic just under the bust. The top is reconstructed from a t-shirt that is a few sizes larger than I wear. I have tried stretching the elastic with the fabric on the bottom against the feed dogs. But despite careful measuring the elastic always comes out to short. So rip out number one.
Next I tried making a casing for the elastic and threading it through this was easy but since the elastic and fabric shift along th casing it bunches in weird places. Rip out number too.
Next I tried shirring the fabric under he bust. Well the elastic thread broke when I tried the top on. so rp out number 3.
I tried sewing the elastic to the top again and manged to make it work but it looks terrible. And the top didn't gather along the elastic at all. If anything it stretched out and the elastic didn't. and my bobbin thread was super bunchy.

I have a huge pile of thread scraps, elastic and ribbon on my sewing desk and a shirt that is NOT doing what I need it to. What am I doing wrong?

So in my hunt for cute things to wear while pregnant I've also decided to make some things. The skirt I made this top from, was gifted to me and in the spirit of giving I want to share the tut with all of you! I thought I allready had but I don't see it in my posts so apparently not! *facepalm*

I think this tut would work well with any very flared skirt. This was just slightly too small to get off my hips once I put it on(before getting preggers) so use that as a guide.

So I'm getting ready for my first baby and planning a water birth at home in august. It will be just me hubby and the midwife. I'd like to video the birth and found this product that would make it more "modest" so that I wouldn't be worried about letting family and freinds see.

Problem is It's a cotton and I'm not sure how well that will work in water. I'm thinking it's going to be a hinderance.
Any ideas what material I could purchase that would work better? I'm thinking basic wrap style with a wasit band and high slits on both sides.
Or if you know of someone who sells patterns for this sort of thing hit me with them!
I'm also open to ideas for reconstructing something to make it work like this. Perhaps a bathing suit cover or bottom with the crotch removed? It would need to be loose enough that I don't feel constricted during contractions.

Is there a reason I'm not getting that it doesn't want to work? Does craftster just not allow them? I'm pulling my hair out over here and just really confused. I have plenty of room but for some reason not working. Due to the image?

The whole idea of this craft along is for those of us who constantly craft for others but, have a list of things we want to make for ourselves and never get to them!
If you are like that then this craft along is for you! Any craft, any medium, Just make yourself something!

I'm hoping by making a craft-a-long it will give us reasons to actually finish our projects, and give each other encouragement and help when we need opinions.
