So Most breastfeeding/nursing shirts cost major $$$. Like 40.00 or more. Ridiculous! So I looked at them for ages on amazon and various websites to get an idea how they work. I came up with a plan to make my own.

I've bought some more shirts to make 2 more. I will have the best fall/summer nursing wardrobe ever in a very short time. Just need to find more shirts to use!

We;ve been cloth diapering for about a 4 weeks now. I love it but sadly the kind we picked(prefolds) do not usually come in cute colors or prints. So as a crafty momma I took matters into my own hands. And using this tutorial:

And only modifying size I made some prefolds with this cute fabric I got at walmart! I also used microfiber along with the terry cloth in the center for extra absorbency.
I finally located some pins so I can show them off!


You use them with a water proof cover so they don't wick on to baby's clothes which is what she's sitting on. I had to leave it open so you could see the diaper.

I had a baby in august and she is great. But like many babies there are days when she just wants to be held. And this mommy has to get things done. We also opted for a convertable car seat instead of the traditional infant bucket seat system. So I need ed a way to take her places when shopping and such.

So I needed a carrier. I'm a thrifty person and could not see spending 40.00 or more on something I could make and may or may not like in the long run.
I had mcalls pattern 5678(i think) and made this:


I use it all the time and it's so nice to have Norrie close and not worry about people touching her when I go out.

I'm not considering this a reconstruction since I left the item itself fairly intact just customized it.
Clock base was something the hubs and I have had for awhile (I suspect we bought it nearly 6 years ago when we got married).

I took off the little black hash marks that made it impossible to read, replaced them with number stickers, and added the grey cardstock vine background. I cut out the cardstock part with an xacto knife after printing the image on the back.
It is adhered to the base with small pieces of double stick tape.


It was a fairly simple project that took maybe an hour total if that. And most of that was cutting out the cardstock background and prying the back off the double stick tape! lol

Our baby's room is fantasy themed and I think this will fit in nicely. I'd love to know what you think about it!

So in my hunt for cute things to wear while pregnant I've also decided to make some things. The skirt I made this top from, was gifted to me and in the spirit of giving I want to share the tut with all of you! I thought I allready had but I don't see it in my posts so apparently not! *facepalm*

I think this tut would work well with any very flared skirt. This was just slightly too small to get off my hips once I put it on(before getting preggers) so use that as a guide.

I'd been crocheting since 2005 and my first solo pattern was in 07. I basically started when I couldn't find a pattern for something I wanted to make. I knew the techniques for increasing, and decreasing, For making basic shapes, Circle, oval, and triangles etc.
My first solo amigurumi was a tiny pug I made for my grandmother. I pulled up pictures of pugs online and basically looked at common colors. I decided on black and tan.


I knew what shapes to make the legs, little ovals with a open end to stuff. I made the body a closed oval, and the head a circle.

My next ami was a crocheted fish a Koi. I learned how to change colors. And after that a lobster. And then my honeysuckle dragon.

My basic tips: Look up pictures of the animal or item you want to make. Break it down to shapes. Basic shapes. Work a row or two and mark it when you like how the shape is coming. This way if you don't like the next few rows you can frog back to that point rather than rip out the whole thing. And the biggest is to not be afraid of mistakes. Use it to learn! All the good talented designers make multiples of things till they get it just right! That's ok! IF you have to frog or rip out, it's ok! If you start to put it together only to realize you made one leg to long, it's ok!
Making mistakes is human and normal. Don't beat yourself up for it. And don't be afraid to rip out!

I finished a shirt to help get me through the spring. I'd posted about it but then I posted about like70 million things I'm working on simultaneously so I don't expect anyone to remember. lol

I'm getting a little belly-licious due to the pregnancy. Not much yet but just enough that I need length! Add to that This shirt was a bubble waist-ed tie thing and it was just not working. A little eyelet lace trim from a friend(whom I suspect removed it form an old bed skirt) and wha la! And the whole orject was free since mom gave me the shirt.
Sorry it's a bit dark hubby took it for me and the flash ruined the pic so this is the best I could do.

I made a ring to wear while I'm preggers since my wedding rings got to small ages ago. (like last summer).
It's adjustable so it should fit for awhile. I just added some beads to it, swavorski(sp?) crystals and I'm really happy with it.

first thing I've done since December so this makes me really happy.

I guess these cards count as for me, since I did take the class to better my skills with paper craft (my nemesis)
these two were my fav: (mostly because I don't feel they have as many flaws.... but yes yes, I know you all wont see what I see as mistakes )
