1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: Quilt Block Swap Round 6 (Sign ups through August 9, Sendouts October 20) on: July 15, 2014 02:10:00 PM
Oh the garden fence was gorgeous, I have to remember to pick that sometime... This time I'm going with a simple cat block, and just being very complicated about size vs amount, like taught by the paint blocks experience Cheesy
i did the catvent last december and those blocks are awesome!
are you just planning for the basic block, or the "named" ones from the pattern?

Thanks for the colors heads up, Sloth. Guess I need to track down more gray fabrics. Oh, the pain of having to buy more fabric! Tee-hee!!
boy i hate reasons to buy fabric Wink

i'm here and will submit once i get a few current projects off my plate and a chance to decide on a block
for now, i'll just enjoy the thread chatter and it will be a constant reminder for me Smiley
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: pair of logs queen size wedding quilt on: July 04, 2014 10:46:53 PM
That is a huge quilt!  I really like the fabrics you picked!

thanks so much!
it was quite brutally huge.
so glad my friends are all in baby having mode right now so i get to make small cute quilts for awhile Wink
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Quilt Block Swap Round 6 on: June 29, 2014 07:01:47 PM
yesssss.  i am totally interested!
i can also help organize if needed.
i've been away from swapping far too long, and this is just the way i'd like to come back in Smiley
i think that time frame would work.  i'm out of state for a week in august and then school starts, but with that long of a crafting time, it should work good for me
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Scalloped Border Lunacy! on: June 26, 2014 11:35:53 PM
those scalloped edges look awesome!
any tips for a first timer that might want to try something of the sort?
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: The one I didn't want to give away on: June 26, 2014 06:42:23 PM

i am impressed by anyone who hand quilts things... i just don't have the patience.
looks fantastic, that's for certain Smiley
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: "the modern baby" quilt on: June 26, 2014 06:41:22 PM
This is beautiful!  I love the colors and your stitching is fantastic!

thanks so much!
i've been way appreciating these smaller quilts that have given me a lot of practice time on my quilting lines Smiley

That IS a very pretty quilt. I love the colors, too. And a very interesting binding. I have never thought to do them that way. I know baby's Momma will love it! And later it can be used as a wall hanging for baby {toddler} girls room, when she "outgrows" it. Or it just might end up her favorite "binkie" and she will not outgrow it.  Grin She just might take it to college! I know I would...for a lap blanket/stadium throw. Roll Eyes

thanks!
it turned out to be bigger than i expected, but that's always good in this case so that it can be used for many many years Smiley
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Metallic Offset Arrows on: June 23, 2014 03:50:19 PM
i just love the simplicity of this, but the bold colors make it so cool.
and the metallic fabric rocks!
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / mod chevron baby quilt on: June 23, 2014 03:37:35 PM

i've done a handful of chevron quilts now, and when this momma told me that she liked "modern" designs versus your typical puppies & such, i hit up pinterest and found this gem.
i fell in love with the subtle chevron-ness of it, and the basic nursery prints (which were not my first color scheme, but it was my final one because nothing else worked) just came together perfectly.  the fabric on the back could not have been anything better, and i am just so thrilled with how this came together.
i would love to do this pattern again sometime, but i cannot vision it done in any other colors now.
perhaps it has become my one hit wonder for this pattern Smiley

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: My iSpy quilt/hexie pattern questions on: June 22, 2014 11:39:41 PM
i've done this hexagon style quilt before, and Eamea is correct.
the ones i did, the rows ended up sewing together in diagonals instead of straight across.
(hexagon quilt)
i also bought this template that had two or three hexagon shape sizes in it, as well as triangles to help with sizing and fussy cutting of the blocks
hope that helps you out!  i love this idea for an ispy quilt instead of squares.  too fun!
