1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Catvent Quilt Along on: March 10, 2014 09:42:30 PM
thanks so much everyone!

Cute kitties.  I really like how you came up with your own layout. This is on my bucket list.

i would absolutely encourage you to do one!
i swayed my cousin to do one after she saw mine, and so far, she's loving it Smiley
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Catvent Quilt Along on: February 17, 2014 03:50:55 PM
last december i completed my first quilt along, and it was so much fun!
i stumbled across it on my pinterest just days before it was beginning and so i had to decide now or never...
the catvent was put on by Elizabeth Hartman (http://www.ohfransson.com/) and each day in december (1-25) a cat head was created.
this was the perfect opportunity to keep crafting during finals time as well as get a good dose of practice quilting in.
plus it knocked out a little chunk of all the batik fabrics i inherited from my grandma's leftovers, plus this giant piece of gray i ended up not using for it's original purpose.
i'm very pleased with the result, and will sooner or later do a bigger one with 100 cats Smiley

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: two music themed donation quilts on: December 03, 2013 11:11:48 PM
I like both of them. I had dreams of making a black and white quilt many years ago, but alas...a project that just did not happen, even though I collected some fave fabrics. I have since repurposed them into other things. Maybe one day I will re-live that dream. I like how the pattern/print stands out more than just with color quilts {though I like those too}. And can blend with darn near anything/color in a room.

Your pinwheels look perfect "on point". And I like the addition of the intermixed squares for that one. I hope the raffle goes good! They look wonderful. And glad your family can all share in this.  Grin

aw thanks!
i did another black and white top, and it turned out much more visually interesting than this one.  i think it just takes a combo of the right fabrics and the right pattern.  i still have yet to find a collection of prints that works really well in that pattern.
these are probably the best pinwheels i've ever done in my life.  haha.
I like both of them too.  But the pinwheel is my favourite. It looks so hard to make, but it looks perfect to me.
thanks so much!  i'm so happy with how the pinwheel one turned out Smiley
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Little People Cat Lady Diorama Ornament! (that old story: with lotsa pics) on: December 03, 2013 11:06:00 PM

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / airplanes & postcards ruffle apron on: November 25, 2013 11:49:35 PM
one of the sweetest girls i know got married recently, and since her registries were for crazy expensive places, i decided i would make her something
her now husband flies airplanes, and i always loved this ruffle apron i did back in 2011/2012 for a friend of mine at the time.  she loves to travel as well, so the post cards & stamps tied in perfectly.

i wish i could say i had the skills to make that hanger though... <3 etsy for that Wink

as to not overwhelm, there are many many more photos over on my blog, as well as the tutorial to the apron in all it's metric glory Smiley
blog post!
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / two music themed donation quilts on: November 25, 2013 11:40:03 PM
i was asked to make some quilts for a music camp raffle, and so after digging through the combined fabric stashes of mine & my mom's, we came up with these two different quilt.
the gold one i am thrilled with the outcome, the pinwheels and everything turned out just as imagined.
the black and white one i did in the past (also for a music program donation raffle) and while i like how it turned out, it just doesn't seem as "taa daa" to me.
my grandma did all the quilting for me (thank goodness!)

alas, these were the only photos i got.
i had a text from my dad asking if the quilt was done, i replied "yes, but i need to take pictures of it" thinking he would wait until i did that...
but i got home, and the quilt was gone...  *sigh*  at least he took one for me.  haha

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / safari animal "circus is in town" quilt top on: November 25, 2013 11:35:39 PM
this was another quilt created from my stash busting rampage, and i love how it turned out!
the fabric was originally from a quilt i made for my childhood bff's sister when she had a baby, and i had plenty to spare.
i found this pattern in one of my many quilt books, and thought i would give it a shot.  well, i would say it was a pretty good shot Smiley

the tiny squares were a little wonky, but they're much better than they have been in past attempts, that's for sure!
