1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pineapple backpack Simplicity pattern 1388 on: August 03, 2015 02:29:55 PM
Thanks to Simplicity pattern #1388, my baby gets her pineapple backpack that she's been longing for.
The original one she wanted was $18 but I thought, "that's too much, I'll just make her one", then I spent $30 on supplies.  That totally makes sense, right?!?
OH well, at least it's one of a kind

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Not your granny's coasters-CAT BUTT COASTERS-with tutorial on: July 22, 2015 08:54:22 AM
Now you can make your very own Cat Butt Coasters (because let's be serious, who DOESN'T want some?!?!)
At a loss for what to bring to your next housewarming party?  Need a gift for an uptight co-worker? Look no further!  I present to you Cat Butt Coasters!

Here's what you'll need:
scraps of yarn:
pink (the only one that's "necessary")
white
black
yellow
any other "cat" color, variegated browns and greys work out great too, sadly there was none in my stash
G size crochet hook (these turned out about 4" X 6", if you want them a tad bigger switch to an H hook)
Round 1:
with magic circle crochet 7 single crochets with pink yarn, pull yarn tail tight for maximum "pucker" effect, slip stitch into top of first single crochet

Round 2:
with cat color slip stitch into any single crochet and crochet 2 single crochets into each stitch (14 stitches)

Round 3:
ch 1, *sc into next stitch, 2 single crochets into next stitch*, repeat *to* around, join with slip stitch into top of first sc (21 stitches)

Round 4:
ch 1, *sc into next 2 stitches, 2 single crochets into next stitch*, repeat *to* around, join with slip stitch into top of first sc (28 stitches)

Round 5:
ch 1, *sc into next 3 stitches, 2 single crochets into next stitch*, repeat *to* around, join with slip stitch into top of first sc (35 stitches)

Round 6: (this is where you form the tail and legs)
chain 12 (this is the tail)

dc in 3rd chain from hook and each chain til you reach the body again (10 dc)

skip 2 stitches, sc into 3rd stitch, sc into next stitch, 2 sc into next stich, sc into next 4 stitches, 2 sc into next stitch, sc into next 4 stitches, 2 sc into next stitch, sc into next stitch, ch 4 (this is one of the legs) dc into 3rd stitch from hook, dc into 4th stitch from hook & dc into sc at the beginning of the leg (you will have 3 dc that make up the legs), skip 2 stitches, sc into 3rd stitch, 2 sc into next stitch, sc into next stitch, ch 4 (this is the 2nd leg), dc into 3rd stitch as before, dc into 4th stitch, and dc into sc at the beginning of the leg, skip 2 stitches, sc into next stitch, 2 sc into next stitch, sc into next 4 stitches, 2 sc into next stitch, twice, slip stitch into beginning stitch of round 6.

Finishing:
cut long tail of yarn and thread thru darning needle
Weave in ends, I tacked the tail down where I had skipped the two stitches after attaching the tail back to the body to give it a more finished look then weaved in the ends and trimmed close.

Next time someone says you have too much time on your hands, show them these bad boys!
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial, if you make any, I'd LOVE to see them
By the way, all four of these were made in about 90 minutes
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Summer/4th of July Door or Wall Decoration on: June 26, 2015 11:18:19 AM
That is fabulous because it encapsulates the entire summer!  I'd display that bad boy from Memorial Day to Labor Day!
Gorgeous!!!
