1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A Tale of Two Bags on: May 23, 2016 07:34:37 PM
My first attempt at a portable yarn toting bag was a disaster.  I ended up with a basket :/

It was cute and all but I wanted something portable.  Never a quitter I decided to try again and I couldn't be happier with the results

I've dubbed it the YarnAGo-as in "yarn-on-the-go"

I made a pouch inside to hold my crochet hooks as well as two pockets for scissors, stitch markers, etc....

Holds two skeins of yarn perfectly

And when I'm ready to take a break from whatever I'm working on I can tuck it safely in the bag with interference from the zipper since it's offset about an inch

Hooray lindy! You are definitely the right choice, you make some drool worthy creations for sure!

Tonight there were no happy accidents or mathematical errors just sheer joy as I finally mastered my yarn bag (I've dubbed it the YarnAGo-as in "yarn-on-the-go")

in my house there are n mistakes, just "happy accidents" (I attribute that to watching too much Bob Ross as a child) I started out to make this as a zippered bag to transport my yarn, several mathematical errors later, I ended up with this basket, the idea was to have a bag with grommets to feed the yarn through, but I'll take a basket instead

WOW everyone!  Fabulous work as always, I love that we are so diverse and not afraid to step outside our comfort zones.  I told my husband I'm going to hang up my crochet hooks soon in pursuit of another genre.
MAKE ALL THE THINGS!

7  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / CHALLENGE 112 ENTRIES / Steel Magnolias inspired birthday care package on: May 08, 2016 07:24:37 AM
"It is going to be a great PAH-TEE!"
Do you have a friend that you can speak almost entirely in movie quotes and song lyrics?  My girl, Vanessa, and I absolutely LOVE the movie Steel Magnolias and we always try to interject one line from the movie in every convo we have.  She lives in Canada and me in Florida so birthdays are celebrated virtually.  This year I decided to let her have a Steel Magnolias inspired birthday.  Complete with her favorite Southern Belles.
I made cupcake picks and cupcake wrappers for her.
The cupcake picks feature the pictures of our favorite Southern Belles, I printed them out on cardstock, and glued them to pink construction paper (after all, pink is Shelby's signature color)
Then on Microsoft Publisher I designed the cupcake wrappers to feature armadillos (a la Jackson's groom cake)
I was going to include a box of red velvet cake mix and a can of white icing with a tube of black icing to mix together to make grey icing but I wasn't sure about regulations of mailing food to our neighbors to the north.  She'll have to supply that herself
Cost for the project (no receipt)
Cardstock: $3
Construction paper: $1
Bamboo skewers: $1
TOTAL: $5
Not too shabby
While this may not be her most practical gift, I sure hope it's her funniest

The Golden Poop Hoopla (Poopla??) cracked me up!!

And the origami cranes are so whimsical, what are you going to do with them?  They would be a great table runner or wall hanging (in my opinion, not that you asked for it!)

Bunny, so sorry for your loss, one of those same creatures killed 13 of our chickens and our barn cat when I was growing up.
