Working on Lana and her cousins' summer outfits!  This was the first time Lana didn't help me with these...usually I tie and she dyes.

Hi!  I received amazing bead soup from anna.wahnsinn.  Smiley  Actually she was kind enough to send me a deconstructed soup wonderfully packaged.  There are so many types of beads here: chip, round, irridescent, etc. and some wonderfully huge bead caps to make into Steampunk balloon pendants.  Can't wait to try my hand at those!

And if that weren't enough she sent this beautifully made beaded  bracelet for Lana.  She adores it as you can tell from the picture.

Thank you Anna!!  Your package really made us smile!

4  Lana Bakes Lemon Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream in Dessert by underthemountain on: April 05, 2014 06:44:06 PM
Hi! This is a recipe that Lana made in her camp cooking class over the summer.  She recently wanted to make it all by herself as a gift to some friends that we were visiting.  I took pics of her as she worked her way through the recipe and thought it would be fun to make a pictorial tutorial for you.  Smiley

Ingredients for the cake:
6 egg yolks
2 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1T plus 1tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
zest of 2 lemons
6oz (1 1/2 sticks) of butter
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour

Ingredients for the vanilla buttercream:
8 oz (2 sticks) soft butter
8 oz confectioner's sugar (about 1 cup)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
cooking spray

First gather all the ingredients!  Take a long drink. That was hard work!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

add flour, baking powder and salt to a mixing bowl

combine sugar and lemon zest and mix into flour mixture

add butter and milk and mix

add egg yolks and vanilla extract

remember to scrape down the sides as you mix

pour into cupcake molds

bake for 15 minutes and move to wire rack to cool

prepare buttercream by mixing all those ingredients together, frost, and finally ENJOY!

The cake is nice and a bit denser than a boxed recipe.  The lemony scents are heavenly!!  Hope you give this a try!

6  I <3 You pendants, or should it be Eye Heart You? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by underthemountain on: March 28, 2014 07:55:23 AM
So a while back Sheepblue had these amazing heart/eye pendants on her OWS list.  I just happened to have those heart bezels lying around so once I got some eyes I decided to make some of my own....but with a twist.  I did mine in resin!  This was my first resin adventure and I must say I'm hooked.  Smiley

C & C welcome.  Thanks for looking!

Love those scarves and that angel!!!

I just made these buttons for Lana's chorus this afternoon.  I'm trying to convince them to have some fun, free giveaways for the kids.  sorry had to remove

Over the past week I made these TOLPs and zipper bracelets for an upcoming fair (the R one is for me!)
