1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Genetically Modified Pumpkin!! on: November 03, 2013 08:00:59 AM
I put together an inexpensive outfit to greet the trick or treaters at the door.  All 5 of them this year  Grin   I decided that it was time to have a costume showing what happens when our food has been genetically modified  Cheesy Cheesy hence "The Genetically Modified Pumpkin"  I took an old t-shirt and just painted on it with acrylics to make the rib cage and the rest of the costume is stuff from the dollar store and a black skirt I had on hand. The hand hanging from my waist is from the person who tried to pick this pumpkin..haha!    Next year I may be a stalk of genetically modified corn  Shocked   Cheesy Cheesy  The 1st kid came to the door...I opened the door slowly and jumped out with my raised cleaver and YIKES...the kid was close to 6 ft tall and wasn't impressed at all *snort*...I did manage to scare an 8 yr old little girl though  Roll Eyes   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Rainy day projects :) on: September 01, 2013 01:09:44 PM
It's been pouring all day and after getting thoroughly soaked walking my fur monster I decided to just play with some bags I've been saving.  I decided to fully line the popcorn bag with a polka dot dcor weight fabric and give it a pocket also  Grin
The pouch is only lined with the clear vinyl that is adhered to the pouch itself.  Both have zippers in the top for closing.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Zipper turned towards outside or towards lining on pouches...what's the deal?? on: August 09, 2013 02:53:36 PM
I'm probably more confused than when I first started researching this topic and I've spent hours and have only come up with some people say turn the zipper down towards the lining and some people saying turn the zipper up towards main fabric when stitching around a pouch or purse.  Anyone got some thoughts on this??  Seriously, I've tried it both ways and don't like either  Cheesy Cheesy  This is frustrating because recently I've read tutorials from well known pattern designers and it's half and half with them also.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pouches, bags, clutches... on: August 09, 2013 01:34:13 PM
Here is just a small grouping of things I've been working on! The bow clutch left in the mail yesterday to my daughter inlaw.  She has no idea it's coming...I love surprises, on other people  Cheesy  The elephant bag is a very large, messenger style with adjustable straps.  I made it from home dcor fabric which gives it a nice texture!

These are just too fun and too easy to make...I gotta stop and get back to other things  Cheesy Cheesy

I'm trying to get organized for fall  Roll Eyes (I know, I know  Cheesy) and have been making quite a few things.  I took a break from the bigger purses and bags to do some of these.  They are cute and fast to work up...gives me a bit of a break from longer projects  Grin

The pattern I worked from was this lady's: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/accessory/coffee-zip-bags/46810

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Red and Black Bag on: April 14, 2013 02:09:27 PM
My picture quality today is not the best  Roll Eyes not sure why.  This bag is quite roomy and I managed to find a black/red polka dot that matched the main fabric exactly so I used it for the lining and the top band.  It turned out pretty cute. I dug around in my button stash and even found a matching red heart button  Grin  It's got 2 inside pockets made out of the main outside fabric. I find using fusible fleece on the outer fabric and then using a mid weight fusible interfacing on the lining back give the purse a nice body. There are pleats in the purse but you can't see the darn things at all  Roll Eyes

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Spring fever bag on: April 09, 2013 11:53:02 AM
I'm tired of winter  Roll Eyes ...so I decided to try some spring like applique on this bag...I used iron-on fleece between the layers so it has a nice firmness/heaviness to the bag.  The inside pockets are made with fabric that matches the tree on the outside.  I kind of quilted/stitched a few times around the birds and the tree but it's hard to see in the picture because the thread I used really matches the fabric  Cheesy  The bag measures about 15 x 14 x 6" deep and the straps are long enough to use as a crossbody bag. I sewed a piece of hard plastic inside matching fabric for the interior bottom.
