1  Shoe makeover: First time dyeing leather in Shoes: Completed Projects by batgirl on: April 05, 2015 07:10:50 PM
My feet have informed me that I am no longer allowed to wear heels over 3". This doesn't mean I don't still love me some shoes, but it does mean that I am constantly on the lookout for good quality mid/low heels that are still awesome. Enter these rather dowdy beige but incredibly comfy leather ankle strap pumps for $5 at a thrift store. They feel like a dream and looked barely worn. I have some nude shoes, but I just wasn't feeling the color on these. The style was pretty cute, but the beige and the raw heel were a little blah. So I stained the heels with some darker furniture stain and used oxblood leather dye to transform them into pretty red shoes.Voila!

I stitched this up for my Dad for Christmas, he's a big fan of Dr Who, and Tom Baker is his fave. I used glow in the dark floss.
I hope he likes it!

I made a new yarn wreath for my door this year, using a couple of sparkly yarns, some dyed vintage doilies, and a little Christmas house and tree. Happy Holidays!

I made this little holiday decoration for a friend, using a strip of silk velvet ric rac, old buttons, cabochons, and little mini vintage tart tins that I added images to and filled with resin and mica flakes.

10  Disco Hedgehog in Needlework: Completed Projects by batgirl on: September 09, 2013 09:13:18 AM
I made this little guy for a friend who has a funny little pet hedgehog. The pattern is from an awesome local designer, Penguin and Fish. The bugle beads were a little more silvery than I expected, so he is Disco Hedgehog!
