3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Office wall... what to do next? on: July 01, 2011 12:29:45 PM
Ok, here is a picture of the focal point in my office.

I'm trying to think of what else to do to the space to make it look nicer.  I was thinking of making a table runner for the credenza.  Maybe put the pics on the wall and just have a few decorative pieces on the credenza surface?  I don't know.  It looks good now but there's just something lacking.

What do y'all think?
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Swap for our non-crafty husbands/boyfriends on: May 28, 2011 02:29:58 AM
So lately my husband has been kind of cranky whenever I talk about my active swaps.  After bugging him for awhile, he finally admitted that HE wanted to get stuff in a swap.  I thought there are probably a lot of us out there with a significant other who is secretly jealous of all our awesome swap goodies.  This swap would be dedicated to them.  You'd be paired up and craft for each other's hubby/boyfriend/significant other.

Does this sound like something anyone else would be interested in?  I'm pretty sure similar swaps have been done in the past.  I'd be willing to organize (I have organizing experience).

For those interested, what time frame would work well?  Size of swap?  Questions to be put on questionnaire?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / My first "from scratch" article of clothing on: November 15, 2009 10:04:44 PM
Problem: finding a plaid skirt to fit someone as big as me, and finding it in 2 days.  Solution: sew it myself!

This is not only the first piece of clothing I made from scratch, but I also didn't use a pattern.  It fit really well and I got a lot of compliments.  Although I made the skirt for my halloween punk costume, I am going to wear it again.  In fact, I plan on making more skirts now.  It was really easy!

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Post Secret Swap 11? on: September 09, 2009 05:13:35 PM
I know 10 is still in its active phase.  Anyone interested in planning for the next round?

Are you dollies aching for some new threads?  Do they need some furniture?  Do they just want to get some presents because they are spoiled? (and come on, we all know they are)  Then it is time for another swap!  This swap is for Pullips, Dals, and Taeyangs only (sorry, no Blythe or other Jun Planning dolls this time).

Edit:  Durrrr, I forgot to post swap requirements.  This swap is going to to require 3 different items to be sent.  One large, one medium, and one small.  However, you could combine two mediums as your "large" item, or two smalls as your "medium" and whatnot.  Just to clarify,
craftster's definitions of large, medium and small are as follows:

large = 3 or more hours
medium = 2 or more hours
small = 2 or less hours

You can always swap more if you and your partner want to!

9  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate Chewie recipe wanted on: January 10, 2008 12:16:00 PM
Has anyone tried these chocolate chewie cookies from S*f*w*y (not sure if we can mention stores here)?  They're very good, and slightly crispy at the edges, but also very chewy.  I'd love to find a recipe for them.  Next time I pick them up I'll post the ingredients, which might help.
10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Easy Peasy Dijon Salmon on: January 10, 2008 12:13:37 PM
My husband hates salmon, except when I make this recipe.  It's easy easy easy, and sooo tasty.  People will think you're a chef!  (oh yeah, and I'll upload photos tonight after I surprise him with it again!)

What you will need:
salmon fillets:  one per person (or more if you're that hungry).  I tend to like fillets over salmon steaks, though I'm sure the taste would be simliar with steaks.

dijon mustard: I like a really vinegary mustard.  I love Boar's Head deli style, but you could use grey pupon or whatever you want.

bread crumbs:  use italian style, or use regular and add your own herbs.

Butter:  everything's better with butter.

How to:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a baking pan with aluminum foil (for easy cleanup) and place salmon in the pan.  If your salmon still has the skin on, put it skin side down.  The skin will come off easy after cooking, so don't worry about removing it beforehand.  Spread a generous amount of mustard on top of each fillet.  You want the fish to be covered, but you don't want mustard glopping off.  I usually use about one tablespoon, though I never measure.  Sprinkle breadcrumbs over fillets.  If you use italian breadcrumbs, you can just sprinkle out of the can.  Cover the fillets thoroughly.  Slice butter into thin squares, and place 2 thin squares on top of each fillet (use more if you have big fillets, less if they're small... not really rocket science).  Bake for 20 minutes or until done.

I like to serve it with wild rice and baked asparagus (drizzle oil over asparagus, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake for 15 mins or so).
