1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 19- Gallery! on: August 17, 2014 12:09:31 PM
We're not doing anything much this weekend, but I have some photos from two or three weeks ago that I forgot to upload. Blue Bubun went on a "hike" in Virginia to see Burke Lake.

Good thing he didn't get lost!

Next weekend will be much more exciting, we are going to go downtown to see the monuments on the 200th anniversary of the battle of Bladensburg and the burning of the White House, the Capitol, and the entire Library of Congress during the war of 1812 (this actually happened in 1814 though).
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / wet felted angler fish on: August 13, 2014 04:27:00 PM
I made this one for a swap:

She is wet felted from natural colored Finn, with dyed prefelts for the tail and fins. The mouth and lure are wired for shape, and the teeth are shell spike beads. This was felted around a resist, with the tongue and teeth added later.

I included two insulated wires in the lure, and attached an led to the end with the battery inside of the mouth.

Yay, I'm glad she made it (this is why she is a she: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/angler). Her teeth are made from shell spike beads. I wish I had been able to find a switch that would work so it would be easier to turn her on and off without having to remove the battery  Roll Eyes

ps. Old Bay is tasty on lots of things - popcorn, chips, deviled eggs, veggies...

Blue Bubun went blackberry picking this morning!

He helped me pick 12 lbs.

Mr. Crab sent this cool ATC to show off some of his adventures in TX!

Oh my, I'm glad everyone is ok from those car accidents!

Blue Bubun went on a quick trip to Baltimore last week after work.

The American Visionary Art Museum (highly recommend) has free movies on the lawn during the summer. We went to see "War Games":

After the movie it was late, so Blue Bubun got a quick tour of Federal Hill, where he could see the Domino Sugars sign in the distance

He also had some tasty frozen yogurt at a cafe

Today he is helping with at home with some sewing projects.

Blue Bubun has several adventures this week.

He helped out with some National Moth Week activities:

made a moth cake

Sat in the middle of a fairy ring

And went sailing on the viking longship

More photos on his blog!  http://blubundc.blogspot.com/

Glamis sent me this lovely wall art embroidery of a Bluespotted ribbontail ray!

I love how his tail escapes out of the frame Smiley

Check out all the detailed textured stitching:

Thanks so much Glamis, I love him!

Blue Bubun got to go to a concert at Wolf Trap - the NSO playing the soundtrack along with the movie 2001. We couldn't take photos during the performance, though, just beforehand.

He was also a big help in assembling a new exercise bike for knee exercise - it is hard for him to reach the pedals tho.

Mr. Crab sent an ATC of some adventures, but unfortunately the post office machine ate the envelope! Sad

This week, Blue Bubun is going to help out with some National Moth Week activities - we are going to make a moth cake and do a moth count if it doesn't rain.

Well, I'm certainly not close to sending. I do have one tricky part done, will likely be making a lot more progress this evening...
