The photos came today, so I can work on the scrapbook this week, yay!

Blue Bubun helped out at the Silver Spring Maker Faire on Sunday. It was super busy so we were pretty much stuck in the booth all afternoon.

Was planning to take Blue Bubun to the visitor center at work today (it is open on weekends) to take pictures in the rocket garden, but it is raining all afternoon, so we are staying home. Tomorrow we are supposed to volunteer at a Maker Faire, so that should be interesting. Found some good supplies for the scrapbook this morning, need to get cracking on that this week...

Sorry to hear about your mom, Lindy, I hope she starts doing better soon.

Can anyone recommend a printing service? I usually use cvs.com and pick them up at the store across the street, but now I can't get the stupid photo uploader on the cvs website to work at all. Snapfish freezes up and hangs on me. There are no walmarts or walgreens nearby. I've got a somewhat elderly laptop and need an unfancy upload interface. I'd like to get collage prints, but right now I'll settle for anything that actually lets me upload photos and print them...

I can always put the files on a stick and use the kiosk at fedex, but would rather do this online...

Yesterday Blue Bubun went to the beach!

Crossing the bay bridge (I had a passenger who could take pictures)

Checking out the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach, DE

Having a chat with Zoltar

A close encounter with a large ant at mini golf - he was rescued in the nick of time

Enjoying the view

More pictures on his blog!

Blue Bubun had tons of adventures this weekend, I really need to update his blog this week.

He answered the ice bucket challenge the Patrick Stewart way (with a raspberry infused gin and tonic)

Went on a walk around Greenbelt Lake (hand dug by workers during the New Deal)

Helped out in the garden

Saw part of the Greenbelt Labor Day parade - this one was the NPS truck with Smokey the Bear

Chilled out with some 80s music

Made some salsa from roasted tomatillos

The Korean War memorial is a favorite of photographers on bad weather days (especially snow). The sculptures are wearing ponchos, so it is appropriate.

Hopefully we will get in a trip to the beach and a few other adventures before it is time for Blue Bubun to head home. There are very last minute opera tickets the day before sendouts, so we'll see if he feels like seeing Florenica in the Amazon at the Kennedy Center or not Smiley  I still need to show him around the lake and downtown Greenbelt (maybe next weekend when there is a "big" local festival) and take him to the visitor center at work too.

Blue Bubun may try the Patrick Stewart version (with a gin and tonic), as I only have a single mini ice cube tray in my apartment-sized freezer.

I uploaded some photos from his tour of downtown last weekend:

The White House, which is really hard to photograph with the fence. Blue Bubun thought he could squeeze through the fence posts, but I didn't think that would be such a great idea.

The World War II memorial - I hadn't been down to this end of the mall in forever, so this was my first time seeing this one as well.

Another newer memorial - the Korean War memorial. I think this one is very well done, although it is more evocative in the rain and not on a bright sunny day.

Blue Bubun and I had a really stupid mini-adventure - we were supposed to take a class this week, but it got cancelled at the very last minute, and we found out after I had driven all the way to Massachusetts. So, today I drove back again (7 states in 7 hours, each way). We didn't see much, but I did stop at a "scenic view" and got this photo of the morning fog in the valley near Northampton.

We're going to spend the rest of the time that I had taken off this week doing fun crafting stuff at home, tho. And I'll get his DC photos up sometime soon too.

Blue Bubun got a big tour of downtown DC today, but I haven't taken the photos off the camera yet. It is pretty late and I am still getting ready to take off on a short road trip tomorrow morning, so the pics won't be ready until the end of the week.

However, I do have one shot from my phone, at the end of the day we went to a liquid nitrogen ice cream shop:

We're not doing anything much this weekend, but I have some photos from two or three weeks ago that I forgot to upload. Blue Bubun went on a "hike" in Virginia to see Burke Lake.

Good thing he didn't get lost!

Next weekend will be much more exciting, we are going to go downtown to see the monuments on the 200th anniversary of the battle of Bladensburg and the burning of the White House, the Capitol, and the entire Library of Congress during the war of 1812 (this actually happened in 1814 though).
