I have been waiting for this swap to find me, but I realize now that I did not need anyone to come looking at all - I am found!

I started working on my practice sampler/doodle last night, and I am so glad I did one! Usually I just jump right into a project headfirst, but I already see where I'd have gone wrong. Smiley
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: International Friendship Bracelet (SU 4/14-4/26 Send out 5/10) on: April 15, 2015 03:11:59 PM
I am really tempted by this... but I am already in the middle of a swap and I try to only be in one at a time. Haha, I know the rest of you think that's crazy.  But maybe if I finish my tiny bird early I can join. Smiley

My partner gave me some good food for thought, and I think I have a good idea of the thing I want to make... but the execution is going to be a stretch for my skills. I better get started early so I have time for multiple attempts! Smiley
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Welcome to Night Vale on: April 04, 2015 07:23:40 PM
I was waiting for this to go up last week but it never did, do you think it will happen in April?
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC swap - March 2015 - GALLERY on: March 31, 2015 06:54:41 PM
So much good stuff has gone up the last few days!

Gina1gr8mom, I love the layering on that City at night theme.

curiousfae, the watercolor bird is so soft and sweet, and the texture on the watermelon really brings a simple card to life.

kosmicgirl, the bold attitude on the frog prince and the bearded lady really make them stand out. Is the "LOVE" some kind of rub-on transfer?

Finally, here is the deceptively nice card I got from Oath Keeper yesterday on the theme of "your favorite bit of poetry". Seems like a nice little treebranch, right?

But it's based on The Poison Tree by William Blake! Don't even think about touching that apple. For those of you who don't remember this little gem from school - http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/175222

Thanks Oath Keeper!

This sounds like fun! I will probably sign up tomorrow after I mail off this ATC. (I'm too distractible to ever have more than one swap in progress, haha.)

I claim curiousfae for pulp fiction book cover.

I live in CO with my cat and a house full of books and board games.  I love books, bold art, and careful craftsmanship.

My themes:

the dark moments in traditional fairy tales
The Phoenix Guards: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/133460.The_Phoenix_Guards
The Odyssey
1001 Nights
philosophers (esp. Socrates, Chuang-Tze/Zhuangzi)
your favorite bit of poetry
mechanisms/schematics
bonsai trees
origami
ink paintings or drawings
chiarascuro (strong light & shadow)
drapery study (think http://www.italian-renaissance-art.com/Annunciation.html)
life drawing
your best/favorite medium

Or combinations of any of the above!

I love that octopus moveable - so cute!

My card from AugustBell arrived today - a lovely little watercolor on the theme "your favorite bit of poetry." I love the color and the simplicity sets off the quote perfectly.

Thanks AugustBell!

Wow, so many great cards! I especially love that bonus bluebird from ArtsyCandice (such a cheeky little guy, with a lovely light hand with the watercolor), and the delicate embroidered flower from rockingbearranch.

Haha, I'm glad I sent mine off before coming to browse the gallery! Smiley
