1  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Half-a-Hoopla Swap (SIGNUP CLOSED; 2ND ROUND MAIL BY 9/12) on: Today at 05:56:15 PM
Hey guys, sorry I was out of touch over the long weekend. I will be updating everyone's sent/received status this evening.

About a gallery, the plan is to take before-and-after pictures but post them all at once when the hoop is finished. Mostly because it felt weird to me to put up a picture of an unfinished work-in-progress, lol. As soon as I get word that the first Round 2 package has been sent I'll make a gallery for us. Smiley

I'm getting really excited about these. Smiley Don't forget to take a pic of your base before you send!

I am worried my first half won't be enough. It's a very simple concept that  I'm hoping she will feel is very open to interpretation. I don't want to say too much because it's still a swap and still fun to get surprises, but I just hope it's enough. I'm drawing it out now. ETA: Maybe I will send a shot to our lovely organizer before I send to make sure it is up to par.

Just remember what it says in the description of this swap:
"There is no point value for this swap. The goal is that when you finish your partner's base, you will match or exceed their level of effort."

If you send a very simple base, expect a very simple finished product. Smiley Of course, a simple hoop can also be beautiful! You may want to ask your partner, since if their hoop is very detailed you may end up with lopsided results.

Not sure exactly who I'm teasing in this scenario, admittedly. Smiley

I worked on mine during a long car trip today - it turns out my natural difficulties with embroidery are only exacerbated by bumps, turns, and changing light, lol. But overall I'm pretty pleased with how it looks so far. Smiley
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Whimsical Shrine Gallery on: August 15, 2014 09:21:59 PM
Luvebuggy99, sorry it came apart in the mail! The mystery bits are magnets and decorative copper pieces. The two magnets hook together so that one connects to the shrine and the other can connect to a fridge. Or, since the magnet shape naturally leaves a hole, you can also use it to hang on the wall.

From the front, you just see the spiky part of the magnet. Then the two copper pieces make a cute little arch.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but the two little fish rotate around so you can put them vertically to make the sign for pisces! Smiley

I think it would be cool to take pictures of your base before you send, but post it all at once when you get the completed version back as a sort of before-and-after. That way you don't accidentally influence your partner's creativity by explaining what you expect them to do. Smiley

Does that sound okay to everybody?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Whimsical Shrine Gallery on: August 13, 2014 10:20:09 AM
I just managed to get my pics from my phone to the internet, lol. I received this fun shrine/playset from Luvebuggy99! Two of my themes were "tiny dollhouse" and "the Odyssey" so this idea was pretty perfect.

Here is the box - the lid is Mt. Olympus so I can stand it against the wall and have Olympus standing tall above the other locations. You can also see Scylla (a sea monster), a Siren, Hades, and two buildings (do these represent specific places?).

There are also tiny figurines of Odysseus and Hermes, with a quarter for scale. I love that Odysseus can go in and out of his ship, and it made me laugh that Hermes has wings on the back of his shoes.

Here is a close-up of Scylla, my favorite of the tiny places:

So cute. It's going on my bookshelf right by my Homer-related books. Thanks Luvebuggy99!

Signups are closed and partners are posted. Everyone should have received a PM with their partner's details; please let me know if I messed any of them up. Let the crafting begin!
