5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / A disaster and a save, maybe? on: April 04, 2014 12:53:23 PM
This jumped out of a box on the way to the car after a craft fair. It broke on the pavement.

So I fused it flat, cut out some shapes and made these.

I hope you think this works.
6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Painting with Glassline paint on: March 09, 2014 05:01:53 PM
Earlier in the year, I tried some painting with Glassline paint for the first time. After firing this for the first time, I realised that the yellow, which seemed to flow so much better than the other colours, was definitely not as thick as the colours that cause my hand to spasm while trying to get it out of the bottles. The yellow almost disappeared after the first firing, so I repainted it and refired. This is the result.

First I painted and fired the shape and then added the glass dots that I tack fused onto the shape.
8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Saving a project - an experiment that failed on: February 16, 2014 07:41:19 PM
I made some mica sheets with Flexi glass and used an electric die cutter to cut out these images

I then made a background from "tops and tails" and fired it face down to make a flatter surface to a tack fuse.

After capping it, I fired it to a full fuse after adding my images.

It did not work: I think the mica was too thin and once the binder burned off, as I assume it does, the thinnest areas virtually disappeared. So I set about saving it. I had some steel blue and cut out the same images in the glass and this is the result after I tack fused.

This one has a decal on it inspired by the project in the Delphi glass ebook.

From the top: These are individually cut piano notes. The space between each one also has a cut piece (I am now using stringers for the most recent ones that I have made). Below the musical notes and text says: Never be flat, sometimes be sharp, always be natural

Middle one: these are beach huts that are a common site on UK beaches - they are usually owned and, sometimes, rented. They are used for people who want a base to stay for the day (often they don't have any electricity) on the beach.

Bottom one: This was inspired by an idea in the Delphi glass Holiday e-book. A place in the UK does custom printing for ceramics and I ordered a sheet with many different images on including this one.
