1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Everybody gets a ham! on: May 31, 2012 01:33:53 PM
I made the ham for a coworker who's leaving to go to grad school (we're part of a working group called the "fighting hams" - don't ask me why, I have no idea!). Well, I got a little carried away and ended up making one for everyone.

Here's a detail shot so you can see the stitching.

And the backs - I cut circles of cardstock that matched the fabric on the front and used my handy-dandy stamp to put my name on it.

I handed out the hams today and they were a HUGE hit - everybody loved them! I mean really, who wouldn't love a felt ham embroidery for your highly professional office Smiley

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Three cats and a laser pointer on: April 23, 2012 06:35:47 AM
I've wanted to make this piece for a while and finally got around to it this weekend. Normally I stitch pieces that are full of felt and bright colors and cutesy animals, so this is really different for me...I'm really happy with it, though!

The first version was pretty terrible - I ripped it out and restitched almost the whole thing. If you're interested you can read about the process on my blog.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bear is ready to party! on: April 04, 2012 07:51:39 AM

Party Bear by alexishelmrath, on Flickr

I'm totally in love with this bear! I used this pattern from Urban Threads: Party Bear. It didn't take too long - I think that cutting out the felt pieces took longer than stitching everything together did.

A detail of his hat, because that's my favorite part:

There are a few more detail shots on my blog, if anyone is interested.
