I'm having the opposite problem, might list more than five: robins, Canada geese, magpies, blue jays, chickadees, cardinals, owls, herons, woodpeckers, dodos, pigeons, crows ....

birds! who can resist.  I think not me.  I have to think about my favourite birds for a bit first.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Fabric Art Journal Pages Swap RD 3 GALLERY on: July 28, 2014 05:07:34 PM
I received my page from Wulf today!  It's a city map, an ancient city, likely Italian, maybe Florence? and he's done an amazing technique, layering two fabrics, stitching around the buildings and then cutting away to expose the bottom fabric.  I love it, very subtle and complex, it feels like I found it in an old trunk, a vitage treasure of mysterious origins.

thanks so much Wulf.

I am finally making progress, and happy with the project I'm working on.

fun fact:  The winds on Neptune are the fiercest, and reach up to 1500 miles per hour, breaking the sound barrier.  Giant ice planet, fierce winds, sounds cold.

very cool abbeeroad, I like your technique and your result, well done!

The house page is also so sweet and great colours.

Wulf that bird page for Smmarrt is gorgeous, the composition and the use of beading are fantastic.
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: luna moth page on: July 26, 2014 01:11:39 PM
thanks.  Felting: there are two ways to hand make felt.  Dry: you take "roving" which is wool not yet spun into yarn, but maybe dyed different colours, it kind of looks like loose cotton balls, and you layer and arrange it and then you stab into it a million times with tiny barbed needles (also called needlefelting) which binds the natural fibers together, as they become dense and bound together this creates felt.  You can make 2d or 3d objects.  Check under fibre arts it's seriously cool.  Wet: you layer and arrange the roving together and then wet it with hot soapy water, and then around an object or in a flat layer you agitate it and felt is created.  People make scarves and things this way.  Also good for felt beads.
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R2- Gallery! on: July 26, 2014 06:02:41 AM
Those squares are all great but the plant cell is my favourite!

The tm patches are good for me in helping me embrace some scrappy style, which I like but often have found myself too symmetrical and 'neat'

I can't wait to see more!

9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / luna moth page on: July 25, 2014 01:04:25 PM
I made this for Wulf in the fabric art journal page
It's felted in greens and browns, and then I designed and stitched a little luna moth.
simple and I think unique.  I want to do more like this.
