1  Re: Fabric Art Journal Pages Swap RD 3 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by fancybutch on: July 28, 2014 05:07:34 PM
I received my page from Wulf today!  It's a city map, an ancient city, likely Italian, maybe Florence? and he's done an amazing technique, layering two fabrics, stitching around the buildings and then cutting away to expose the bottom fabric.  I love it, very subtle and complex, it feels like I found it in an old trunk, a vitage treasure of mysterious origins.

thanks so much Wulf.

2  luna moth page in Completed Projects by fancybutch on: July 25, 2014 01:04:25 PM
I made this for Wulf in the fabric art journal page
It's felted in greens and browns, and then I designed and stitched a little luna moth.
simple and I think unique.  I want to do more like this.

Homerof2 made me this excellent hoop with one of my favourite quotes (from an Ani Difranco song), and I love how she did the word strange in rainbow colours Smiley

wow the ami mushroom house is incredible, the hedgies are super adorable.
Ludi I love your gnome and the fox picture.
The owl on the cardi is gorgeous.

OK I finally rescued from the post office and opened my amazing package from Sureal and, wow, amazing.

She was worried about things arriving unharmed and her packing worked!  Everything is perfect.

First, this most beautiful enchanting fairy sculpture.  Can you believe it?  It's so great, woodsy and enchanted.  You have to explain how you made this, it's like bronze and waxy? I have no idea but it's light and amazing.

and another sculpture this fabulous tree stump with a little bird, so well done.  Again I have no idea what technique she used!

and then this magical pendant

and finally, I think what I LOVE most this sewn piece, wallhanging, so incredible and perfect for me, so colourful and creative, a bear (I love bears) in different fabrics and threads, I have never seen anything like this, seriously Suereal what talent you have, I am in awe,

thank you thank you for sharing your incredibly talent with me!

These are my first TM squares, and I made the into a little kitchen wallhanging for a friend.  I am addicted, love these, though I wonder if she will or if it just looks like a five year old made it lol.

7  Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R2- SU: until July12, 2014; SO: August 6, 2014 in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by fancybutch on: July 02, 2014 06:52:14 PM
I made my first patch!  I am thrilled with it, and have two more on the go, and I want to then make the three into a little wall hanging for a friend.
I folded the edge once and left the edge raw, which I think I like, and stitched around the tomatoes to make them pop.  I probably did more stitches than necessary but I liked how it looked.

I finally picked up Ludi's package (chaos here made me leave it at the po for a few days) and it is amazing.  Not surprising, Ludi is one of my craftster heroes Smiley

Check out this beautiful bird on a super realistic tree stump with moss goodness around it, all done so well, charming and gorgeous, thank you so much!!

thank you Ludi!

10  wee felted owl on spools in Felting: Completed Projects by fancybutch on: June 21, 2014 07:09:46 PM
for the altered spool swap I found these tiny wooden spools, so I stacked two to make a tree stump, added a little felted bark, made a little felted owl for the top, used some glass bead eyes I had, and then felted a rock for a base.
