Sendouts Octobe4r 20, 2014

This is not a traditional gallery, we will be posting pics of what we make, not of what we receive.  Please claim a spot.

Everyone please make one post that will be your personal gallery post that you will keep adding your pics to as you make blocks for your partners.  After everyone has a gallery, then we can start chatting about what is posted, just so we have all of the galleries at the beginning, k? I'll let you know when all the galleries are ready.   All are here and I hope I got the mistake fixed (sorry Homerof2)

I will link up the names with their gallery once everyone is here!

thanks for taking part in this round

Swap name: Quilt Block Swap - Round 6

Sign-up date range: July 13, 2014 - August 9, 2014
Date to send item by: October 20, 2014

Limited to a certain number of people? No, but will need to end in multiples of fives, so I may close early to meet this.  If you are waiting to sign up, please stalk the thread to make sure you don't miss out in case it does close early!

- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES

- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES

Details of swap:
This is a swap for 12.5 inch quilt blocks*. People will be organized into groups of 5 and will send 3 blocks to each of the 4 other people in their group, for a total of 12 blocks per group. Swappers with excellent swap feedback may do more than 1 group (up to 3). Within each group it should cost about $12 total to send out to 4 people, with delivery confirmation (assuming within the US). Please keep shipping costs in mind when choosing your number of groups.

*If you fall in love with a pattern that yields a different sized block you can use it, up to 14 inches, but be sure to specify the size that it makes so that your partners aren't confused.

Everyone chooses their block or blocks that they would like made for them. It could be a specific block with an online link to the pattern or a general type (i.e., pinwheels or appliqued birds). Keep in mind that people of different skill levels are involved, so please don't pick a super advanced block unless you also pick an easier block to go with it.

You will also choose your color palette. That could be a color family, a couple of particular colors, or something as vague as "brights" or "scrappy" if you want to leave it up to the other swappers' interpretations. You maybe also/instead specify certain fabric patterns if they are vague enough, like plaid, stripe, polka dots, etc. Try to only be as specific as you need to be so that people can work from their stash as much as possible.

You must use 100% cotton fabric and press your seams as you put your blocks together, unless your partner(s) have specifically stated otherwise.

Measure your blocks before you send them out! They need to be 12.5 inches square. Send all squares in a ziplock style bag for protection.

Newbies are not allowed in this swap because there are multiple sendouts.

Please make sure to post in this thread to keep up with swap announcements. You will not be approved until you have posted here.

Please do not sign up until you have decided on your pattern and colors.
If you just want scrappy or sampler blocks, please specify that.

Communication is very important to me! You must pm your partner(s) and myself when you send out and receive.  There will also be communication among your group: please respond to questions within a few days.

Since this swap is for multiple sendouts, I reserve the right to refuse anyone with bad feedback regarding communication and/or late sending.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Quilt Block Swap Round 6 on: June 28, 2014 04:15:03 AM
Greetings Everyone,

I was wondering if there would be interest in another round.  It would be sign ups in mid July, crafting in mid  august to mid sept.  I know a couple of the usual folks have told me they are taking a break to get caught up on quilts or expand their families so I wanted to make sure there was enough interest before posting another round.

If there are enough interested I will organize it myself or with someone.

I have so enjoyed this swap.

thanks

Another craftster on here introduced me to the Art Abandonment group on facebook. She made an amazing quilt.

Well I joined the group and have been trying to come up with something to leave about town to lighten someones spirit. Well today it came to me. We all need a little magic sooo

I did a dragon

Using a sweet briar sisters pattern (Dalton the Dragon)
I will be leaving this little guy in town tomorrow as I go about my workday for someone to find and if lucky put a smile on their face.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tag Along Tote in RedHat Fabric on: March 10, 2014 04:56:44 PM
Greetings Everyone,

A while back kbrison sent me some Red Hat Fabric, she noticed I am a red hatter. I loved the fabric and have been making small things for our group. A few wheel chair bags (which i forgot to take pics of) and now a small tote bag

It is a Terry Atkinson pattern #ATK143

I thought a few of the ladies would enjoy a special bag for our lunch-ons. I am gonna make another but here is the first

Close up of the bag

A shot of how it hangs

A shot so you can see the strap fully

I did a simple line quilting about .75 of an inch apart and at an angle. It turned out pretty nice
