1  Kitty Portraits - Soft Pastels in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by TheDaytimeHeroes on: June 26, 2014 08:37:17 AM
It goes without saying that I love cats.

They're adorable, quirky, and make no sense 99% of the time. There is no logic when there is a cat involved.  Cheesy

These are two pet portraits I whipped up with soft pastels on velour paper of two of our three felines.

This is Crush...

...and this is Fidget.

Cutest little boogers in the world, snuggly and goofy. Love them ~

I will most likely be redoing Crush's portrait in the near future, compared to Fidgets I'm not happy with the results.

2  Lady the Kirin - Fantasy Sculpture in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by TheDaytimeHeroes on: June 26, 2014 08:33:37 AM
I just can't get enough of that clay! I'm still working on my skill level, there are a few things I struggle with but practice will help that!

This is Lady the Kirin, she's a quiet little pretty thing with iridescent scales and mane. And pretty blue eyes ~

3  Fantasy Barn Owl Sculpture in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by TheDaytimeHeroes on: June 09, 2014 08:11:04 AM

Another little sculpture, this time of my favorite bird. Barn owls are lovely <3

Photos from the top really show her form.

She was made with Super Sculpey, Superflex sculpey and wire, and painted with acrylics.

4  Fantasy Markhor Sculpture in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by TheDaytimeHeroes on: May 31, 2014 08:14:56 AM

Yaaaay time to sculpt again!

Still looking for a name for this little guy, Markhors are so cool. Such long shaggy manes and magnificent horns!

Naturally I can't complete a sculpture without adding some sort of fantasy spin, so he got the treatment as well. At first I was going to go with red balloons holding the braids/twists up, but somehow the idea morphed into birds and butterflies.

He's about 5.5" tall, 5.5" long, and 4.5" wide, made with Sculpey clay over a wire armature.

Lovely bum view shows off the birds and butterflies nicely.

I'm back on my soft pastel phase. God how I love this medium! All of the pieces you see here have been done with a range of brands and all done on velour paper - the best thing ever. Its fuzzy!

"Sacred Kingfisher"

"Fuzzball" and the kingfisher are both 5"x7", little practice pieces, and "Perception" is 11"x14".

My latest painting, one I'm particularly excited about! If all goes as planned, this is the first of a series of five. Smiley

Its painted with acrylics, and adorned with gold leaf on a wooden panel measuring 10"x20".

Its about time I start sculpting again.

His name is Saen, and he's a little winged otter wormy. No back legs, yay!

He was sculpted with Super Sculpey and painted with acrylics. He's currently keeping my other sculptures company.

8  Starchild - Snow Leopard of the Skies in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by TheDaytimeHeroes on: March 25, 2014 07:42:37 PM
Hello folks!

So I've been on a bit of a tea-dyed paper run, I'm loving that stuff for art! I dye the paper myself, and then use it in various ways. Here is the latest piece!

"Starchild" was sketched in and detailed with ink, then washed with watercolours and amped up with soft pastels and some white ink for highlights. I'm loving the way the purple compliments the tea tones!

9  Blue Fire - Blue Morpho Butterfly with that grungy touch in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by TheDaytimeHeroes on: February 24, 2014 06:27:14 PM
Okay I LOVE moths and butterflies. Moths a smidge more, but c'mon, they're fab.

This little dude is a Blue Morpho, they have the most incredible sheen to their wings. So damn pretty!

It's painted with acrylics and a tiny bit of coloured pencil on a 11"x14" piece of watercolour paper, and then sealed with a glossy finish.

10  Horn Pendants - Dani Style in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by TheDaytimeHeroes on: February 18, 2014 05:26:38 PM
So long ago I was inspired to make some of these for myself, and for some reason today got chosen as the day (makes sense, I have a final tomorrow, procrastination time!!).

I made these babies with some (pink) polymer clay, inserted a fixture for hanging them on a chain and popped them in the oven to cure. They then got a layer of matte black paint, then got all beautiful with coats of two of my current favorite nailpolishes. On Her Majesty's Secret Service by OPI and ... Peace, Love & OPI by OPI I think? And then lacquered with a couple layers of my clear top coat.

I love them so freaking much
