4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Fedora (With a Pattern) on: September 26, 2014 06:46:22 PM
Its been raining pretty much nonstop where Im at for two weeks now, and its really messing with my hair. I love to walk in the rain, but Im getting a little tired of looking like a wet dog. So I decided to make a hat, but Im tired of tight fitting hats, and I wanted something with a brim. Voila! Fedora happened.

It needs a chunky weight yarn, but I NEVER have any so I used to strands of worsted weight. Its what I always do whenever I dont have chunky. I chose black and gray because theyre the two things most prominent in my wardrobe.

So here we go!

Fashionably Fabulous Fedora

Hook: J
Yarn: chunky 10 strand, or two 4 strands.

Abbreviations:
Sc = Single crochet
Sp = space
Ch = chains

PATTERN:
Rd1: ch2, 10 sc in the 1st ch. Join in beginning stitch. -10 stitches
Rd2: ch1, 2sc in next stitch, 2sc in each stitch around. -20stitches
Rd3: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next stitch, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -30 stitches
Rd4: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next two stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -40 stitches
Rd5: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next three stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -50 stitches
Rd6: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -50 stitches
Rd7: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next four stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -60 stitches
Rd8: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -60 stitches
Rd9: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next five stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -70 stitches
Rd10: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -70 stitches
Rd 11: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next six stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -80 stitches
Rd 12: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -80 stitches
Rd 13: ch1, 2sc in first stitch, *single sc in next seven stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around. -90 stitches
Rd 14: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -90 stitches
Rd 15 25 (add more here for a longer hat) : ch1, sc in each stitch around. -90 stitches

Now we can have some fun. You can make a different color band, or just go straight into the brim.

For the band:
Rd 26: (if you want a different color join here) ch2, dc in back loop only, in each stitch around. -90 stitches

(If you want a thicker color band, do another row, but do it through both loops.)

For the brim:
Rd 27: ch1, in back loops only,  sc in next three stitches, 2sc in next stitch, *sc in next four stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat * to * around. -108 stitches
Rd 28-29: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -108 stitches
Rd 30: ch1, sc in next four stitches, 2sc in next stitch, *sc in next five stitches, 2sc in next stitch,* repeat * to * around. -126 stitches
Rd 31-34: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -126 stitches
Rd 35: ch1, sc in next five stitches, 2sc in next stitch, *sc in next six stitches, 2sc in next stitch* repeat * to * around. -144 stitches
Rd 36: ch1, sc in each stitch around. -144 stitches.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Now, fold the back brim up, and push down the top of the hat. Pinch it at the front and wear you new, fabulous fedora!

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Bookmark Swap 6 Gallery on: September 26, 2014 09:50:15 AM
I received from ChameleonHound and Eclectic Dreamer Smiley

ChameleonHound sent me an awesome Narnia inspired bookmark that was based off of Peter's sword:

It says:
When Aslan Bears his teeth winter meets its death.
When he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.

And from Eclectic Dreamer I received two bookmarks:
Front

Back

Second Bookmark:

Thank you both so much!

Heads up everyone! I realized that I put the deadline for sending on a Sunday, and as Harry Potter taught us: "There's no post on Sunday!" So I've set the deadline for Monday (the 15th) instead. PM me if you need more time. Smiley

We already have two senders! I've put the gallery up, make sure and post pictures when you receive. Don't forget, you have to let me know when you send AND receive. That's the only way feedback will be properly given.
