#2.To sign up to swap in a group of 3. (Send and receive 2 bookmarks.).

Love reading? Hate folding corners, losing your place? Always using the nearest slip of paper to hold your spot? Then this swap is for you! Open for all book lovers to finally get something to hold their positions in the books they're enjoying.

This swap is open to people in every country, and is a great way to try out swapping internationally, without a lot of cost.  To those of you who automatically say you do not wish to ship to a country outside your own, please consider it on this one!!! You will only be mailing an envelope and the costs would be much less than in a traditional swap.  Think about how much fun it will be to get international mail!  And think about how sad you would be as an international crafter, if no one ever wanted to swap with you!  Also remember that you would NOT receive ALL international swappers.

It is A LOT cheaper to ship international on a bookmark swap. You're only shipping envelopes, so even three will be under $5.

For a wonderful swap experience, communication is always the key.  Please keep in touch with your partners and organizer.  If you are accepted into the swap, I will PM you, and add you to the participant list.  Once partners have been assigned, you may craft your bookmarks and send as early as you wish.  All swaps on Craftster, requires the use of tracking, but this is not possible when sending letters or sending internationally.  Since you can't get tracking for these, feedback will be based on if your partner received or not.

For US based crafters If your bookmark is not received after two weeks, you will need to re-craft and send another one to avoid negative feedback.

For International and US/International crafters If your bookmark is not received after three weeks, you will need to re-craft and send another one to avoid negative feedback.

If you don't think you'll be able to make and send more bookmarks if your items are lost in the mail, please think about doing option #1.  As soon as you ship, YOU MUST PM YOUR organizer and your partner to tell them.  Please label your PM "SENT: Bookmark Swap - Rd 6".  When you receive, you MUST PM your partner and organizer again, please label this one "Received: Bookmark Swap - Rd 6".
If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Extras may be sent between partners but BOTH MUST AGREE TO THIS!! No one wants to feel bad for getting a boatload of extras but not sending any

- You must post in this thread at least once a week.
- You must post in this thread before you can join the swap.
- All announcements will be made here so please bookmark this page
- Please try to create a package that you are proud of and you think your partner will enjoy receiving – do some research!
- Remember to take pictures, just in case your partner is unable to.
- Keep your receipts
- Make sure you PM the organizer and your partner when you send and receive
- PM organizer with any other problems right away!

4  Re: Hoopla Swap R11: Words With or Without Words - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Wizards_Pupil on: July 25, 2014 05:22:49 AM
So, thanks to a pm from my partner, I received this morning. Turns out my package was actually at the office for several days but no one left me a card to know  Tongue Yippee for apartment life.

Just the same, I love my hoop! It's now proudly hanging on my wall Cheesy

It says 'To live would be an awful big adventure' With Captain Hook's hook.
Sorry about the blurry image but my phone would not take a clearer one. Sad

I received from My_RubySlippers today, and you all need to settle down and get comfortable because I got spoiled!

First, a hobbit door necklace, which is something I've ALWAYS wanted!

Then two darling paintings that are now hanging on my crafting wall beside my hoops :

My pictures don't do them any justice

Darling earrings with my favorite cover of the hobbit book

A bookmark with a LOTR book charm

The charms are really detailed, they have pages and everything!

Two candle holders, and they will make shadows of their designs on the wall when lit! They're extremely detailed Cheesy

And a EPIC charm bracelet!!!

She also sent me a book on the languages of J. R. R. Tolkien, which was awesome because I used to have a copy but my dog actually ate it and it was the only Tolkien book I didn't have. Cheesy

Thank you so much!

6  Narnia Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by Wizards_Pupil on: July 14, 2014 06:50:46 AM

Hey everyone! Is anyone interested in doing a Narnia swap? During my time on Crafster, I've never actually seen one. I love C.S. Lewis and all the stories/movies that take place in Narnia. My question is if anyone would be interested in joining a Swap on it? Any movie or book involving Narnia would be acceptable.

I would think a 4 point swap (Which means a swap with any of the following combinations: one medium two smalls, two mediums, one large and one small.) Though I'm open to anything! Would anyone be interested?

Happy crafting!

7  Middle Earth Map Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by Wizards_Pupil on: July 14, 2014 06:36:11 AM
I adore Tolkien, and all things Middle Earth. One of my favorite things in the world of Middle Earth are the maps. I adore maps in general, but I really love the ones Tolkien made.

So, for the Tolkien swap, I made my partner a map of the Shire.

Here are a few detail shots

I made the trees out of very loose french knots, because I am not very good at circles. They usually look bizarre.

It was a lot of fun. I'm thinking of making a grid of hoops for another map. Maybe even one of Narnia.

9  Apple Pie in Dessert by Wizards_Pupil on: June 26, 2014 10:32:02 AM
I love apple pie, but I hate mushy apple pie. That started me on a long quest to find the best apples for pie and I tried a large variation of failed pies. Finally, I found an excellent mix. This, to me, makes the perfect texture for a pie. Fuji and Braeburns aren't too sweet and they don't turn grainy when baked.

(sadly I don't have a picture of a slice. My housemates descended on it before I could get one.)

Cook time
35 mins
8 (or so)
Oven temp:
425 f. (Preheat the oven!)
1 package pie crust, or 1 pie crust recipe. You'll need enough for two crusts.
2-3 Fuji apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2-3 Braeburn apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
3 tbsp lemon juice
⅓ cup sugar
⅓ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup flour
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbsp butter
1 egg + 2 tbsp water, whisked together (this will be an egg wash for the top crust)

Roll out on pie crust and press it into a greased pie dish. Allow any excess to hang over, you'll need it later. Stick it in the fridge to chill for a bit while you work on everything else.
Now, in a large bowl (because you're going to need to get in and mix a lot of things and will want some room to groove) toss your apples slices with lemon juice. It adds a little flavor and makes certain that they don't go all brown.

Add your sugars, flour, and spices to the bowl with your apples. You can 'toss' to coat, but I find it easier to just go at it with my hands. Once everything is fairly well mixed pour it into your chilled pie crust.
Cut your butter into small cubes and sprinkle it over the apple filling. Set that aside and roll out your remaining crust.

This is where you can have fun. You can go with the lattice work like I did, or do something completely different. Whether that's cutting slits through the crust so it looks like the center of an apple, or anything else. Have fun with it Smiley If it messes up just roll it back out and try again.

If you do the lattice like me, you'll want a pizza cutter and something to help you cut straight. I keep mine about an inch wide, and 3/4 in apart. you'll want to lay down a layer of strips all in one direction, and seal them ONLY ON ONE SIDE!!! Then start laying another series of strips perpendicular to the first layer of strips. You'll want to weave those strips under, and over the other one. Alternate with the next strip to make the lattice effect.

For example: Row one started under, and then went over. Row two would start over and then go under.

Once you're done, press the ends to the pie crust to seal the layers together. Trim anything that is still hanging around and crimp those edges together.

Brush the top with your egg wash and, if you have one, put a pie crust shield on it. I don't have one so I just pop it in the oven.  To bake for 30-35 minutes, or until top is golden brown and juices are bubbling.

Let it cool for another 30 minutes and then serve. I like it best with ice cream, but my sister adores whip cream with it.

10  Alice In Wonderland Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by Wizards_Pupil on: June 13, 2014 06:05:50 PM

I adore Alice in Wonderland, and this is one of my favorite quotes. I based it off a beautiful image that's on my pinterest.

Here are a few detail shots of it.

Thanks for looking!
