1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Megara on: November 14, 2013 08:35:37 AM
thank you very much!  was trying to get her classic "hip-jutting out" pose to show the sash, she's just so sassy Smiley
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Megara on: November 08, 2013 08:48:55 AM
Hercules is my favorite Disney movie (doesn't hurt that her nickname is also Meg...), so I was thrilled when my hubby agreed to the couples costume this year Smiley  Unfortunately things did not exactly as planned, so the Hercules costume is not home-made, so I am only submitting the Megara costume for the contest:

I drafted a pattern from scratch (in addition to some draping on my dress form) to get the base of the dress in the shape I wanted, and then added the two sashes before sewing in the side zipper.  I made the gold "coins" from Fimo clay, as well as a Barrette for the hair.  I used interfacing in the lower sash to make it stand out from the hip like the cartoon Smiley  I ordered a wig online and styled it back with a gold barrette to get the extra fullness/curliness that Megara has.
Unfortunately, Halloween was more focused on my cute neice, so we only got a few pictures, but will try to add more before Sunday Smiley  One more of us together, but only mine is home-made:

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Fabric Printing Swap Gallery on: June 10, 2013 10:57:49 AM
LOVE all the new additions to the gallery, amazing work!!

i received a FANTASTIC print from my second partner, ivoryh1632, in my Dr. Who theme:

i was amazed at all the techniques she combined: there are words in the background, plus a galaxy-style coloring, and then screen-printed characters of the 11th doctor (my fav) and 4 major villains walking away "with their heads held in shame"-they all turned out great!  my hubby and i both agree this may have to become a wall-hanging, or else i'll have to find a project big enough to use the piece as a whole Smiley
i'm very impressed with all the screen-printing skills!  i used stamps/hand-painting this time around, but am now inspired to experiment with screen-printing for future projects Smiley
great swap everyone!
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Fabric Printing Swap Gallery on: June 07, 2013 06:56:00 AM
i am so impressed with all of the submissions so far!  some of you have me feeling like such an amateur Smiley  hard to pick favs, but i especially love the robot stamp, flower and vine combo, steampunk/gears silhouette, honeycomb/bee combo and the woodland creatures-such detail!!!!  amazing job everyone so far Cheesy

to add to this lovely collection, i received from sezouli last night!  she sent not 1 FQ, not 2, but 4 FQs of printed fabric  Shocked  she claims that 3 of them were "flops", but i like them all.  the first is the main one, red honeycomb pattern:

then the next one was a blue triangle pattern which i think turned out cool:

then there was also a red honeycomb-in-chevron-pattern print:

and finally was a dark fabric which she said was an attempt at galaxy print with red honeycomb pattern:

THANK YOU!!  i think these turned out great, and i am curious what the "found object" was that you used.  i can totally picture a project for each of these, and look forward to using them Smiley

now the fingernail biting continues until my partners finally receive...**insert rant about postal service here-i have NEVER had as much trouble mailing for a swap as i did for this one, and i am praying to the craft gods that both packages arrive ok, usps made me nervous this time Sad
