1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Tea Cup Cozy! on: April 17, 2014 10:51:41 AM
I wanted to share a little Mug Cozy I hooked up for Donniesgirl in the I <3 Tea Swap!

The pattern is from Rhonda Greene on Ravelry,
""Cup of Tea" Coffee Mug Cozy with Non-Slip Backing"
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cup-of-tea-coffee-mug-cozy-with-non-slip-backing

I left off the non-slip backing.
I just thought the Tea Bag string and Tag was so cute I had to give it a try!

Thanks for checking it out!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Let it GLOW! on: April 10, 2014 02:07:42 PM
I had just signed up for the Frozen Swap and KNEW my daughter would be hounding me for
the things I would be making my partner.
So...
To placate her I stitched up an Elsa Hoop while waiting for partners.

It was fun to incorporate shiny silver floss for the sleeve detail and cape...even if it's not the easiest thing to work with.

And for the "GLOW" part in the title of this post?
HER HAIR...IT GLOWS!

Because Elsa, Anna, and Rapunzel are cousins right?

Thanks for checking out Morgan's Elsa Hoopla!!!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Nerdtastic Mugs! (pic heavy) on: April 03, 2014 08:18:21 AM
So it's been brought to my attention I've been making quite a few mugs for swaps lately...
I thought I could share them with you fine people!

Note: Both sides of mugs are pictured

Trust Snape...Always.

Totoro needs Coffee while waiting for CatBus

I did most of these with the OIL BASED sharpie marker (regular sharpies just wash off after baking). Otherwise I used a traditional ceramic marker.
A huge thing with the Sharpie Mug Tutorials: Nowhere do they mention the stink fumes released into your home.
Make sure to open a few windows!
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Calvin and Hobbes Triple Threat! on: February 21, 2014 11:37:54 AM
I stitched these up for SevsOnlyGirl for the Affirmation Swap...
And they were INCREDIBLY hard to send away!

I did the Big one with the quote in color to signify "Sunday Comics":

The smaller ones I kept black and white to pay homage to "Weekday Comics":

I loved stitching these up for Sevs and am so glad they found a good home!

Thanks for checking them out  Wink
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bee Happy on: February 20, 2014 08:19:57 PM
I stitched this up for SonjaBoo in the Sunshine Swap.
I think we all need a cheerful summer bee just about now with this horrid winter!

I had to do it a bit off center as the fabric was a bit small to do anything else with.
The fabric also had a honeycomb vibe for me, so I felt I couldn't *not* use it.  Wink
I used the waste canvas for the words.

Thanks for checking out my little bee.
Here's to a quick arriving spring!
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Goodnight (that's no) Moon Art Pen Caddy on: July 05, 2013 07:46:29 PM
This is an entry for the Summer Nerd Games: June Fandom, the prompt being crafting something with hidden aspects from your fandom.

Look there in the window...that's no moon...it's the DEATH STAR!

I was in sore need of somewhere to store my markers. The zippy bags just weren't cutting it any more.
I upcycled an uber sized Totinos Pizza Roll Box and primed it to really take my Oil Based Sharpies well.

Here are the other sides of the box:

Goodnight little Wookie

Goodnight nobody. Here's where you can see my original box!

Goodnight old Jawa whispering hush

I loved putting this all together, I was absolutely giddy about it.
Just in case, here's some you tube-age with my inspiration

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Teen Titans Light Switch Plate! on: July 05, 2013 10:43:41 AM
The new show, Teen Titans Go!, has FAST become a fave around here.
Imagine my luck when, at the library, I found the first season of the early 2000's Cartoon Network Teen Titans show!
I entered it in the Summer Nerd Games for the July Battle Royale: DC v/s Marvel.
As part of the DC universe, it fit this prompt perfectly!

My son calls the older show "Big Teen Titans" and switches favorite characters every other day, so I picked an image to decoupage on with all the titans. Otherwise I used Oil Based Sharpie Paint Markers for the rest.
(I love the stuffin' out of those markers!)

Cyborg is the fave today!
Big Cyborg!

Here's an action shot:

I was really happy how the switch hole lined up with the "E" and the screws lined up nicely for easy coloring.

8  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 86 ENTRIES / Teesha Moore 3 Ring Binder Cover of Geekery! on: May 07, 2013 07:54:46 AM
I crafted this bad boy up for Luckdragon in the IYP:20 Chillin' Cotillion Swap way back in the beginning of 2012.

A Teesha Moore 3 Ring Binder Cover of Geekery!

Front:
Back:

Opened for the Full Effect:

This was my first attempt at the Teesha Moore style and I LOVED it! It was so zen just throwing caution to the wind and stitching up...crazyness.
Also, all these nerderies I too have much love for. (I think I just channeled Yoda again...man, why does that keep on happening?  Wink)

Here are some thumbnails for close-ups:

1. The One Ring and Hunger Games (oh, that Haymitch!  Cheesy)
2. Better Off Dead and Harry Potter
3. Doctor Who and My Partner's Monogram
4. Psych and Torchwood
5. Firefly and Pirates of the Caribbean
6. Craftster (YAY!) and Pac Man

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Wreck it Ralph Medal on: April 25, 2013 11:36:31 AM
I and my kids have become obsessed with Wreck it Ralph ever since the Easter Bunny left the DVD in my son's basket.

This is a whopping 12 inch hoop (feels huge for me, I usually stick with the 6-8 inchers) and I used decorator weight fabric for the candy striped background.
Felt was used for the hearts and Sweet Candy-like Buttons for the sprinkles.

The words are done with all 6 strands of DMC white...

and I wanted it to really mimic the Medal Vanellope made for Ralph, so I stitched on a piece of Grosgrain Ribbon and tucked it through the hoop for hanging.

Then I got all crazy with the Ric-Rac and a glue gun to finish off. The fabric was a cool extra from a past swap friend...I thought it fit the Sugar Rush theme well.

The inspiration for this hoop was not only to feed our Vanellope Von Schweetz obsession, but to let my daughter know she's MY hero.

She did SO well getting surgery to remove her Adenoids and get Ear Tubes put in!
She is NO DIAPER BABY!!!!

Thanks for looking!

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / We Are the 3 AMIGOS! on: March 12, 2013 07:35:10 AM
I got the privilege to stitch this up for Averia in the IYP 22 swap!

Based off one of her favorite quotes.
This was the first time I'd stitched on linen and at first I was going to try to cross stitch, but this was a supertight linen.
Those squares were so so small I would have needed to put glasses on top of my own glasses for super-human sight!

I'm very happy with how it turned out!

Oh those Amigos! Now I need to go watch the movie AGAIN!

Thanks for checking it out!
