1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Winter Wonderland of Whimsies- JOW Gallery on: February 04, 2014 12:04:34 PM
I got my package!!

I'm sorry... the photo does not do it justice. The lighting is awful. I will have to try to take different ones this afternoon when I have some sunlight.  Undecided

There are so many amazing goodies! I love this swap. Smiley

She included some pictures of a hike she went on- Australia is amazing.
I love everything in here. There is a gorgeous handmade notebook. The cover is so soft and it has a cute enclosure on it. I will definitely be using that!
The drawing of the face on a nice fabric is so lovely- the picture really doesn't capture the detail. It's very, very good.
The necklace and pin are awesome! I love, love that pin. You can't tell, but it looks like a bunch of tiny beads are hand-stitched on, giving it this really neat, subtle effect.
The black and white plant sketches are magnets (already on my fridge!).
And soooo many little buttons, beads and trinkets. I'm still pawing through everything, getting good ideas for mini projects.

Thank you Jess!! I love it all. It was so much fun. Smiley

I have been PMing my swap buddy, but I forgot to come back here! My package is out and on it's way as of last week. Smiley

I think I have all of my goodies gathered! I just have to put it all together and finish up my crafts. Smiley (That's the most fun!)

I have a HUGE custom order I have to get out for my Etsy shop this weekend, but I'm hoping to have my package in the mail no later than Monday. Hopefully, since it's going to Australia, it will get there in a week or two. I may have to cheat a bit and send two smaller containers so that it fits in a large envelope versus a box. In past international shipping experiences, envelopes ship a lot faster- even if they are they same size and weight. Silly, but whatever works. Wink

Lindy- Thank you SO much for organizing all of this. I'm sorry to hear about your mom- I hope everything is OK. Keep us posted!

I'm so excited for this swap! I'm thrilled I got an international partner. I've never sent any shipments to Australia.Smiley

I'm so excited to get started on my craft and scavenger hunt for tiny whimsies. I have seen so many adorable things in local boutique shops and this will give me an excuse to go back. Wink

Can't wait for my partner!

*drum roll*
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Etsy Store Finally Open.....Yay? on: December 29, 2013 11:14:12 AM
I LOVE your items! They are too cute. (Adding some faves now!)

I think your prices are very fair and reasonable. If you are able to make a decent profit and not lose money on shipping, then I think it's all personal choice as to what you want to set your prices at.

I figure if I can pay myself essentially $15-20/hour, that is more than fair. It takes me about 30ish minutes to make a scarf from start to finish and I make a profit of roughly $9-12 depending on material costs. I take into account all of the misc. supplies (shipping stuff, paper/ink, thread, new needles, etc.) as much as I can.
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making Hot/Cold "socks"... should I use Rice or Wheat? on: December 26, 2013 10:29:24 PM
Now that it's way too late to respond to this, here's my idea. Wink

I have also had smell issues with rice, but it does seem to fade away after a few times of heating- and it may have been the type of rice I got.

I've seen some really cute heating bags made from cherry pits (it smells like cherry pie!) and a type of coffee bean. I haven't tried it personally, but it's on my to-do list.
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fabric matching help on: December 26, 2013 10:25:12 PM
Gosh, I really like 1, 2, & 4. It's hard to decide. #3 doesn't seem to match as well- it could just be the photo as well.

I do like 3, like the others said, but I think a lot depends on the weight and feel of the fabric too (which is hard to tell from any photo Smiley )

That fabric is gorgeous though.

OMG- I must be part of this! Smiley I have seen SOO many things around here that would be perfect for this swap.

It's been far too long since I've been active here and this would be a wonderful way to jump back in. Smiley So excited now!!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: First Time Knitting on: September 15, 2013 10:35:06 PM
That looks good, I think! I do agree that larger needles might be easier- I found them MUCH easier to hold and maneuver when I first started knitting. My first project was awful. Like you, I have crocheted before (for a long time actually) and I thought it would be fairly easy to just pick up some knitting needles and go to town. No. For me, it was the most awkward feeling ever- I couldn't hold them right, I was used to only handling the yarn in my left had with crocheting and now I had all of this other stuff I had to control too. It got a lot easier though. Maybe I just have poor fine motor skills. Wink
