1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Wishfish in Resin on: July 31, 2014 08:06:38 PM
I was paired up with fancybutch in the recent Enchanted Forest Swap.  I've been goofing around with resin recently, and since she said she wears larger pendent necklaces sometimes, I thought I'd try out something I'd been thinking about for awhile..

I bought these tiny "gold"butnotgoldfish the last time I went to Seattle (for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in Dec!!!) at Archie McPhee's.  I have bought waaay too many of those little corked glass bottles at dollar stores, hoping to force my self to do something with them.  So, I used a hot gem setter and some gems to glitter it it a bit, and made one big eye for it out of a peg eye.  Then I shoved it in a bottle and filled it with resin.  I call it a Wishfish...because the pools in the enchanted forest in my head are FILLED with Wishfish Grin
The little leaf is cast resin and glow powder.  The little added stars are from the need to use a 40% off coupon at a mega craft store Grin

Thanks for looking Grin
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Martha the Disco Rhino on: July 31, 2014 07:55:15 PM
So, one of my crafty idols is Martha Stewart (she even has art in her name!)  i don't care what some folks have to say about her, so if you are haters, go away.  She did a lot for me in lonely times (ie. The 90's).  One of the things I still follow that she said was, "It's not a collection until you have three of them" (my words not her's...i don't remember exactly how she said it...).  So, when my father recently bought me Ghost Rhino Head, and then I bought Ecco the Red Rhino at a thrift (I'll show you soon Grin) I was angsty because I only had two....and THEN!  I remembered I bought a bag of plastic animals a VV at some point last year, and I was actually able to find it!  It was rather nicked up, so I decided to pull out my Martha Stewart special effects intense glitter paint.  it took a few coats to get it as glitter as I wanted, but her paint is so awesome to paint plastics with.  But, it seemed to need a bit more...so I took a pair of green glitter/glow butterfly wings that I cast in resin from one of her molds recently and used some epoxy putty to apply them to the back.  Now...butterfly aficionados will notice the wings are on .."backwards'  but I thought, if rhino's had wings, they would need more lift at  the back end, so the larger wings are at the back....it's my world, you just get to visit sometimes Grin

So...I'm happy to introduce...MARTHA the Disco Rhino!!!!

And here is her posse Grin

Thanks for looking Grin

okies...so I made a scrappy skirt once upon a time...and it was so heavy I could hardly keep it on.  I used rather small pieces though.  If one used ones..oh say..they size of a hand, it might be wearable...just a thought Grin

I'm a bit worried that when I die I will have to go live in the giant pile of failed craft stuff that I have created over the years.  i probably have 2 garbage bags of clothing that I have tried to manipulate and ...not quite made it.  I feel guilty enough to not be able to throw them away, as I hope to still redeem myself one day Grin
