I have been wondering if there was a thing that happened that prompted him to get married...like a death of someone who looked after him like a relative who accepted him...or a brush with the law about his life style that made him feel he needed to hide more efficiently.

That's interesting about Aleister Crowley!  Heck...that would be enough for some folks to want to get married to say, "Nope!  I'm NORMAL! See?" Grin

Books: I loved the Serendipity books. IE: Leo the Lop. Morgan Morning. Trafalgar True.
ALL of them.

I'm going to go meet the artist one of these days in real life for coffee, at least we corresponded about that very thing a few years ago.

I used to own every single one of them and he was at a signing when I was maybe 11 and signed more than 1/2 of them for me!  I gave them to a little girl I was nanning many years later.  She loved them and I don't have kids, so it was nice to pass them on Grin  I saved a few of my FAVO's though...I wonder where they are?

and my Bday is May 8th and I grew up in Wash...just saying Grin
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: 3D Bug Swap - Gallery on: October 30, 2014 05:58:31 PM
Awesome start to the gallery Grin.   Giant knitted ant would make me want to make something giant for it to play with or sit on....so I could pretend I was tiny Grin  The cross stitch butterfly is adorable.  It looks Asian inspired to me Grin

Bushbaby, everything is beautiful. I love how you put stripes of white in between the rainbow wool, it really makes it shine.

A scarf with a heel? Maybe I could use this for when I put my foot in my mouth!

*giggle!*
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Half Bath to Wunderkammer project on: October 30, 2014 04:04:45 PM
Nice window Ludi Grin

I thought I had posted an idea of what I would do, but it's not there, so I must have not remembered to post it...yeah ME!  I would probably cut out the drywall on the inside walls of the house between studs(the outside walls probably need the insulation to stay there..)  especial any where there was not too much wiring and make shelves between the studs.  I would probably just paint all the rough wood as I kind of like that look, but you could mud and tape it all up to look smoother too.  You would have more shelf space to store little things then.  You could also just do it in a few places and have little curio cut outs.  You could even make/buy/find glass or acrylic doors to keep the curio space dust free....I'm excited to see what you come up with Grin

There was so much pressure back then to get married...and it was a way to get folks off ones back about the constant questions of "why aren't you married yet?"  I had an aunt who married a fellow, and they owned a house together, but they had another couple living with them.  I always just assumed they were all gay.  But my mother completely will not think that is the case.....and she is fine with gay folk now...just not her sister...So, even if he wasn't hiding it, it might have been easier to be part of a married couple than to be single...especially as one aged.  Bring in the illegal component of that time period, and it was most likely very handy to have an understanding opposite sex partner to shield one from the law...then there is the aging factor...who doesn't want someone to take care of them as they age?  I just hope she knew and was not just being duped into what she thought was a real marriage...been there done that Grin

I want to play, but I haven't asked anyone yet...so if anyone wants to ask me, I'd say yes...as long as it's not a Christmas theme...I don't do Xmas.. Grin
