1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Stitchalongs / Re: Hoopla A-Long 2013-2014 on: July 25, 2014 07:39:54 PM
There is 1 week left of July. I think I need to make my design a reality AND a priority. How about after I'm done picking this fleece (about an hour left) I make my food themed hoop the top of my list? I need to make this. I need some "me" time.
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: Nugget - multiple ways... my first more complex stamp... on: July 25, 2014 06:08:28 AM
Very cool. Nice technique, too. So personal! The print really does look a lot like the dog in question. You sent the stamp to her as well, right?
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Preserving strawberries 3 ways on: July 22, 2014 03:00:46 PM
We got an ice cream maker attachment for our KitchenAid stand mixer that rocks! It usually come out really soft but is really good after being in the freezer for a couple hours. I've been using the Ben and Jerry's ice cream book, too.

I ordered 16 lbs of blueberries, 18 lbs of cherries, and 25 lbs of peaches to be picked up this Saturday (I'm telling you Americans, bountifulbaskets.or g is amazing!) so I think as long as I can find some good, cheap jars I will be set for canning the whole next week. I've been using my stock pot to can but my MIL said her g'ma's canner is up for grabs, just need a new gasket so I think that would make canning with the kids even more exciting. I seem to have abducted your thread, I'm sorry. I'll make my own post next week I promise! I'm just so excited.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: July 2014 Ongoing Pinterest Swap on: July 22, 2014 11:47:07 AM
Hurray for an official start to the gallery! WOOHOO! Those are all very nicely done, as per par with Dessadoll. The different colors schemes of each owl makes a nice touch. I think my favorite bookmark is the tea one, even though I don't drink tea. It's very clever. Good job, lady!
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Preserving strawberries 3 ways on: July 22, 2014 09:27:45 AM
Oh my word, I just tried canning this year for the first time, too! Using the same book! Sweet. It must be a sign. We got some cheap strawberries from the Bountiful Baskets co-op (bountifulbaskets.or g, check it out friends!) and I made the jam twice (gave me about 9 pints) and I also made strawberry ice cream, which I think was the best way to preserve them Wink, thought it didn't really last long enough to count as preserving I don't think. I'm really glad the lemonade concentrate recipe is good. I was worried about it. Next time I get berries I'm totally making it now as per your recommendation. Thanks for the reviews!
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Cocooned Nymph on: July 22, 2014 08:59:12 AM
I don't think the head is too big at all. She looks like she is sleepily getting ready to emerge from her cocoon and spread her beautiful spider-fly wings to go add beauty to the night. Love it!
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Bloom Where You Are Planted Skeleton on: July 22, 2014 08:18:40 AM
Your stitching is so good. This design is awesome. Love it!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Au revoir, gopher! on: July 22, 2014 08:17:01 AM
I knew who it was just from the thumbnail so I think you did a darn good job. Awesome!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: July 2014 Ongoing Pinterest Swap on: July 18, 2014 01:05:31 PM
Yeah, not everyone discussing postage right now is in the US so not all the same rules apply, I think. If you don't get tracking, it's always nice to offer a receipt from the PO though. And ALWAYS keep your receipt either way.

I see Dessadoll has Pinned some Monkeys and it's tempting to jump in and claim her for them but I think I need to see how market goes tomorrow first. Someone told me last week that she thought my monkeys were "creepy" and that was a little disheartening.
10  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Wet-felted and Needle-felted Hanging Flower Pod Birdhouse on: July 17, 2014 11:57:03 AM
This is really quite rad. Unbelievable that it's your first time!

Thanks! It wasn't my first time felting in general, but I have always done needle felting since discovering the craft. Wet felting is way more intimidating.
Really? I've always been more intimidated by the needles. Wet felting is more of a 'let it make itself" craft for me because you never really know how it will turn out. Well, the way I do it. AND it can be really messy with soap! Our different perspectives on it amuse me.
