1  Muno's Family in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 10, 2015 10:04:18 AM
So, I had a guy order a Gooble ( that's the sad white guy) from the show Yo Gabba Gabba, and he said he wanted as much of Muno's family as I could make.  Well, I made Gooble ( wonder why kids love him) but when I made one of the Muno family I think he was scared away by how much they'd all cost.  ( I'm pretty sure he thought I'd hand make the whole bunch for ten bucks.  HA!)
Anyway, I decided I'd go ahead and make them all anyway since there was a lull in my schedule.  It was fun watching them come to life.  Wink. Oh and they're about 9" tall and made of fleece and a little bit of felt.  Smiley

2  The Crow Bros in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 09, 2015 02:01:51 PM
I've been making tons of chickens lately and when I ran across this super soft black fur I decided I needed to make a crow.  I'm a huge fan of crows and ravens, and the idea has always been floating around in my head, so I finally devised a plan.  Wink. Meet Harley and Dexter, the crow bros.

And YES,  they do have eyes!  Wink

I wait for them to crash into my window - way less waiting around that way.  Wink

5  Re: The Northern Ghost Bat..of course in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 19, 2015 08:12:02 AM
Haha, someone else commented that he looked like he came from The Dark Crystal.   Cheesy. Here's a picture of an actual northern ghost bat, even in real life he looks like Jim Henson had a hand in his creation!

6  Re: Journal Cover Swap (Send Out, March 16) in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 18, 2015 04:10:22 PM
I walked 1/4 mile down my icey driveway to get this journal cover and boy was it worth it!  Just look at the beautiful work rscowtown did on this thing!

Adorable little stitched birds!!

Here's the back so you can see all the cute fabrics and how neatly it's stitched together!

And a peek inside to see the cute detail stitching!

Thank you so much rsc!  I'll enjoy this cover for years to come!

7  The Northern Ghost Bat..of course in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 17, 2015 11:04:09 AM
I made this little guy for Ludi in the Be Awesome Redux swap (after some pinterest stalking)
His little body is stuffed, head is polymer clay and the wings are fabric over a wire armature. He traveled in a little "museum box" aka a converted cigar box.
and finally in his little box with his ID tag.  Smiley

It took a while to figure him out, I got a great lesson in bat anatomy and have a pile of reject wings to prove it!  Smiley

8  Re: Be AWESOME (Redux) Sendout March 23 in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 16, 2015 01:58:07 PM
Okay, I need plenty of fanfare here, maybe a drum roll.  Nothing seems quite adequate enough to introduce you to this most AWESOME piece I received from Ludi.  But here it is anyway, in all it's glory!

Let's get a little closer, shall we, so you can appreciate the amazing stitchery!

See? Amazing, isn't it???
Here's one last side shot so you can see the finished edge.

Thank you so much Ludi!  (If you couldn't tell, I LOVE it!)  Smiley

9  Heeeeeeere chick chick chick! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: February 14, 2015 06:35:19 PM
I love me some chickens, so decided to make my own pattern.  I have one more color of chicken fur to go.  The black and white is my favorite but really tough to sew.  The white is the cuddliest but I need a lung transplant after working with that material! Has anyone else worked with that curly fur?  Yikes!!

10  Re: Curiosity Cabinet Gallery in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: February 11, 2015 12:11:01 PM
Okay!  FINALLY I managed to get a hold of my package from greybird.  Apparently my mailman hasn't felt up to dealing with the snow on my road for the last several days so I had to take matters into my own hands.  Wink
First check out this cute little guy. Doesn't he have the most magnificent mouse wings you've ever seen?  And that little hat is too cute!

Next is this nifty paper mache crow with the ruby red eyes!

But wait!  There are TWO sets of eyes!

Thanks so much greybird!  What a fun swap!
