1  Gathering Aprons in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thisbirdsabsurd on: May 21, 2015 11:19:38 AM
Is this clothing?  Seems like everything I make doesn't quite fit into any topic.  Wink
Anyway, I made one of these for myself last year, then another for someone else and this year I've made a few changes to create, (ta ta ta taaaah!) the perfect gathering apron.
They're long so you can get down on the ground and dig in the dirt without getting your pants dirty, or without grinding dirt into your knees if you're wearing shorts.  Wink  They have deep envelope pockets for gathering eggs (if you have chickens) or just for keeping a little spade, or some herbs, or some seed packets, or whatever!  The tie threads through some buttonholes at the bottom to gather up the apron so you can carry all of those vegetables you're going to be picking from your garden (I'm saying this as a positive thought since last year my garden was kind of a bust.)
Anyway, here are two, a third is in the works. I need to get someone to take an action shot but at the moment it's just me, so use your imagination.  Wink

2  Re: OTBT - One Tiny Bird Thing - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: May 01, 2015 04:38:03 PM
There was a wonderful surprise in my mailbox this afternoon!  A beautiful little hoop - "Birds With Attitude" because, she said, she has known bluejays, crows and chickens to all have a little of that!   Smiley

Thank you so much Acadian Driftwood!  I'll display this with pride!  Smiley

Woo hoo!  Finished!  I had to chuck the first idea, it just didn't come together the way I had envisioned.  I'm sure that my finished piece falls under the OTBT original rules...at least technically.  Wink
Anyway...if we're playing the chicken game, here's one for you - my spring chicks!  Smiley

5  Muno's Family in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 10, 2015 10:04:18 AM
So, I had a guy order a Gooble ( that's the sad white guy) from the show Yo Gabba Gabba, and he said he wanted as much of Muno's family as I could make.  Well, I made Gooble ( wonder why kids love him) but when I made one of the Muno family I think he was scared away by how much they'd all cost.  ( I'm pretty sure he thought I'd hand make the whole bunch for ten bucks.  HA!)
Anyway, I decided I'd go ahead and make them all anyway since there was a lull in my schedule.  It was fun watching them come to life.  Wink. Oh and they're about 9" tall and made of fleece and a little bit of felt.  Smiley

6  The Crow Bros in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 09, 2015 02:01:51 PM
I've been making tons of chickens lately and when I ran across this super soft black fur I decided I needed to make a crow.  I'm a huge fan of crows and ravens, and the idea has always been floating around in my head, so I finally devised a plan.  Wink. Meet Harley and Dexter, the crow bros.

And YES,  they do have eyes!  Wink

I wait for them to crash into my window - way less waiting around that way.  Wink

9  Re: The Northern Ghost Bat..of course in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 19, 2015 08:12:02 AM
Haha, someone else commented that he looked like he came from The Dark Crystal.   Cheesy. Here's a picture of an actual northern ghost bat, even in real life he looks like Jim Henson had a hand in his creation!

10  Re: Journal Cover Swap (Send Out, March 16) in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: March 18, 2015 04:10:22 PM
I walked 1/4 mile down my icey driveway to get this journal cover and boy was it worth it!  Just look at the beautiful work rscowtown did on this thing!

Adorable little stitched birds!!

Here's the back so you can see all the cute fabrics and how neatly it's stitched together!

And a peek inside to see the cute detail stitching!

Thank you so much rsc!  I'll enjoy this cover for years to come!
