1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: My Favorite Book Swap (S/U 5/16/16 to 5/31/16; S/O 06/22/16) on: May 21, 2016 04:42:11 AM
Maybe we should share our favourites here because when they won't make it to the questionnaire, they might still be helpful for Wizards_Pupil when assigning partners.
Also, I'd really like to hear everyone's favourites! Wink

I'll start with the very first ones that popped into my mind:

-The Discworld series (with maybe Reaper Man, Feet of Clay, Fifth Elephant or Wee Free Men as a favourite)
- The Cadfael Chronicles (many great ones, but I especially love The Virgin in the Ice)
- anything Douglas Adams (esp Last Chance to see)
- my kid likes the Skulduggery Pleasant series which I might well enter because there is no merch for it and I quite like the German audiobooks

If anyone is up to reading a german book, I'll probably add Heidi to the list, for being my favourite Johanna Spyri book, and Krabat by Otfried Preussler... and probably a few hundred more...

I realize that there are many of my favourite books where I don't necessarily need to see quotes stitched, or anything visually come to life... Some books for me really live by their book form.

bunny1kenobi, you could always give the swap book away after you've read it, but you'll get to keep the crafts from your favourite!

Narrowing it down will be a little bit easier for me, because I'll have to narrow it down to books in English which is the smaller part of my book shelf but still more than a hundred absolute favourites... it's still next to impossible... I guess I'll pick three or four and then talk to my swap partner and see which ones we both like...

Ha, I saw this on roler's tumblr and it's amazing! Look at the sparkles!

Oh, this swap sounds great!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Anime and Manga Swap Round 9 GALLERY on: April 12, 2016 02:47:50 AM
The package is there already? Wow, that was fast!
Haha, I'm lucky Ronia's unruly hair is canon because the yarn was impossible to tame Smiley
Glad you like her!

OK, there is a little extra that comes with Ronia: Pictures!

I took Ronia to the lovely manga/anime convention we visit each year, and here we are learning about how cool Osaka is:

Picture with a big fan and former resident of Osaka:

And I asked all the Ghibli cosplayers I could find (there were more, but I didn't catch them all) to pose for a picture with Ronia:
Princess Mononoke:

Noface and Totoro:

Another Totoro (well, on the umbrella, but Totoro!)

Noface and Chihiro:

And another Princess Mononoke (I saw at least four of them on that weekend)
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Anime and Manga Swap Round 9 SIGNUPS 2/28 -3/4 MAIL BY 3/25 on: April 11, 2016 03:22:25 PM
packages to the other side of the planet? not bad.
To the UK though? The Royal Mail can be a lottery.
Worst combination ever: Canada and Australia. I don't know what enrages the Australian custom controls about Canada, or where the problem is, but these two countries have been the worst in many swaps before.

Finally, after losing my camera and borrowing a new one, I can post pictures of my package.
I've seen lovely stuff in this gallery, but I'm happiest with mine: the Ghibli creatures, who are a thing in our kitchen on many surfaces, including the hoopla wall. I've been admiring soot sprite hoops online for a while, because I love spirited away and they're so cute, so this was perfect.
Look how cute they are and how much fun they are with the other hooplas!

I also got Sailor Moon candy! You can't see it, but the candy is Sailor Moon sugar cane thingies. Very pretty!

I'm very happy about my package, and I loved the swap! Thank you roler!

Finished already? Now I'm excited! I'm half way through mine, with the interesting design decisions still coming up, so not even sure where I'm ending with it Wink
Very happy with the series I chose though!

I went and watched the trailer of Kamigami no Asobi too... still undecided about watching it. Character design looks really nice, character dynamics not so sure... but man the transformations. Guess I might watch it to see what those are about!

Don't worry, I completely understand wanting to be in Wink
Hm, does anyone want to do an OTT in the meantime? A manga/anime one tiny thing swap, to pass the time until the big one?
