DBD - that bag are fantastic! very well done. And the cute doll dresses, the skirts, the hoops - a lot of people are doing great stuff.
I don't think I will reach 50 this year - but it doesn't matter - it is nice to have a goal.

And I did make Christmas-crack  Cheesy

It is not made of magazines, but newspaper - I hope it is ok. Nothing fancy, I just wanted to try.[

Here is a tutorial I found. It is to a slightly more advanced version: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/47658/the-times-they-are-a-changing-how-to-make-a-basket-from-a-newspaper/page/all

I have been slack in showing my projects - but here are some of them:
When my sister and I were children, we were girl scouts, and we loved earning badges. In my speech at her 50th birthday party, I presented her with some badges as a recognition of her great talents. There are to many to mention here, but she got a badge for giving refugee to garden gnomes, for her love of cakes, for her great support of second-hand shops (we all know what that means), for her love of books, cats, Viking-time fairs, and horror stories.
I have been working on it for a very long time, but it was funny, and I think it made her happy.

I have also been making smaller projects:

scrap-pouches. I made three, one for my daughter and for her to cousins.

a bag for a third cousin, it is crocheted.

and three small fabric boxes. I did get the tutorial here at crafters, but I have forgotten who made it?

And today a made a box of a newspaper - I will post it at the new reuse-repurpose thread, too.

Roll Eyes No, never - there is always some shinny, new project, much more interesting than my old ones!  Roll Eyes

I tried to remember crafting should be fun, not a chore, so I made small pouches out of scraps of fabric and battings. They are in no way perfect, but a fun way to use some scraps.

I made three.

Ha! I did finish it! Hurray  Grin Grin. I have been working on it since the beginning of January, and it is a graduation gift for my lovely niece. I did the last stitch yesterday, and we are going to give it to her to morrow. The top is hand sewn, and it is machine-quilted. (Most of it is from stash, except the green and purple).

9  Re: 13 Quilt Projects in 2013 QuiltAlong in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Taramor on: June 28, 2013 07:46:25 AM
I must have been slightly mad when I signed up for '13 quilts' - 'cause quilting isn't quite my thing  Embarrassed. I love to make patchwork, the colours and textures, and I love the soft, warm blankets - but quilting is so difficult! I cant do anything but 'in the ditch'.
Anyway - I have just finished a quilt I have been working on since the beginning of January. The top is handsewn, and it is machine-quilted. It is a graduation gift for my niece. She loves books, and I think the building-blocks could as well be open books.

You inspired me so much, I had to make my sister a beard for her 50th birthday. Who knows when a bunch of dwarfs and a wizard comes visiting?
