1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Hand Stitched Felt Halloween Ghost Brooches on: September 04, 2013 07:23:52 PM
I made these while waiting in a waiting room. They were really fun and all the supplies fit in a little plastic bag making them a very portable craft Smiley

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Abstract Fish Ink Drawing Notecards on: September 04, 2013 07:14:27 PM
I have been in kind of a rut artistically lately so I decided to try something outside of the box for me. Here's what I came up with: Some abstract ink drawings of fish and a Narwhal. I abstracted them by taking the color and pattern of their markings beyond the forms of the animals and on to the rest of the art surface. I am pretty pleased with how they turned out and I am interested in exploring this kind of thing more.

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A Dodo Bird Drawing on: July 21, 2013 01:02:42 PM
I just made this little drawing while sketching for some other art work and thought he had personality, so I thought I would share him here.

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Doggie Dress Do-Over on: July 21, 2013 12:48:22 PM
When I first bought this dress it was on clearance for only 1.97 but it was just a plain brown print that looked dirty due to some unfortunate shading, but I bought it anyway because I knew I could do something with it. Here it is. All it took was a little fabric paint and sparkle to make it doggie-licious!

5  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Vegetarian 200 Calorie English Muffin Pizza on: July 05, 2013 05:48:44 PM
I have recently been making a new attempt at getting healthy, so I have been trying to come up with fun, yummy, and creative recipes that are around 200 calories to fit my plan. Here is one of my attempts, I think it turned out pretty tasty  Smiley

The recipe is really easy:
1 English Muffin, I used a Thomas 100 calorie one.
1tbsp tomato sauce (is plenty for both pieces)
1/4 mozzarella cheese (I used Sargento and it was plenty for both pieces)
A few bits of pepper, mushroom, and morningstar farms veggie bacon.

Cut the English muffin in half and toast the two halves, place on a cookie sheet and build like pizza, then place in the oven under the broiler until the cheese is nice and bubbly. Note: these don't need a whole piece of veggie bacon, I used about 1/3 of one slice. If you eat the whole slice of veggie bacon it is slightly more than 200 calories.
6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Sarcastic Ceramic Plaques on: July 03, 2013 03:57:28 PM
I had some cookie cutters, some stamps, and some clay so this is what I came up with:

I didn't use regular glazing techniques with these, instead I fired them to bisque and then used a watercolor and varnish technique to give them a stained look. I think they turned out pretty well!
7  COOKING / Dessert / Biscoff Butter and Cookie truffles on: July 03, 2013 03:41:54 PM
The very first time i tried Biscoff cookie butter I thought, hmm this would make some amazing truffles. So I finally got around to trying that idea, and man are they delicious!

They were really simple to make: First I thickened the Biscoff butter with some powdered sugar until I could make little balls with it. Then I melted some white chocolate and started the little cups in the candy mold, then I placed a little ball of the filling into the mold and finally I placed a little piece of cookie in there too for a little crunch, then I filled the mold the rest of the way with more melted white chocolate and put them in the freezer for a minute to set. Once they were set, I popped them out and dusted them with some nutmeg and cinnamon.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Summer Fire Orange Tribal Geometric Necklace on: June 20, 2013 12:49:40 PM
One of my favorite mediums is Shrinky Dink because there is just so much you can do with it! This is the first time I have made something line and pattern oriented with it. I am pleased with how this project turned out. At first I was going to make more of a bib necklace with a lot more pieces, but the pieces turned out much bigger than I thought so instead of making one big necklace I got four necklaces and 3 pairs of earrings out of it.

9  COOKING / Dessert / Pink Cherry Salt Water Taffy on: June 19, 2013 02:41:51 PM
I have made taffy several times now and I keep getting better at it. My first attempt was a total failure because it got to hard to pull with in seconds and I had to throw it away. This batch is almost perfect. It is still a little hard, but it softens right up after you have in your mouth for a second. I guess I will keep tweaking until I get the soft taffy that I am dreaming of Smiley but in the mean time I have this yummy batch to tide me over.

10  COOKING / Dessert / Peacock Tea Party Cake on: June 19, 2013 02:36:12 PM

I made this cake small so it would be a nice center piece for a small tea party or maybe a romantic dinner for two. The peacock is made out of fondant painted with glycerin mixed with Wilton gel colors. I made the white chocolate accent pieces by putting the melted chocolate in a squeeze bottle and drawing them out on wax paper.

Here is a pic of the blue marble effect I got with the fondant I covered the cake with:

Here's a detail shot of the feathers:

And here is the finished cake:
