1  Re: Three Tiny Movie Things Round 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Mellius01 on: May 24, 2016 06:10:39 PM
I got my package from fatewineroses today and I'm still reeling from all the goodies. She is the best swap partner and I'm so lucky to have gotten her this round.

The package was quite an emotional journey. First she brought the laughs with this from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

Without any prompting she managed to hit one of my favorite quotes from the movie. That whole scene with the French knights never fails to make me laugh, just like I did when I saw that plaque.

Then I discovered this from Young Frankenstein:

I don't know how many times I've seen Young Frankenstein - a bunch. My favorite scenes are between Victor and Igor. I'm so blown away by this I can't even express it. I just sat and stared when I opened it. Talk about tiny stitching! And a portrait! I can't even imagine how something like this is done.

Then I opened this from Aladdin:

And the lining:

How did she know yellow is my favorite color? And once again the quote is perfect. She's either the world's best stalker or she's psychic. I swear I teared up when I saw this because of Robin Williams. The lining is a tribute to his beautiful soul.

Then there was this from Lord of the Rings:

The Eye of Sauron! Old Lord of the Rings himself! lol

You think that's the best thing about it, the evil reptilian eye? No, not at all. It also... lights up! Yes, that's right, my very own, glowing Eye of Sauron.  I couldn't get a picture of it lit up, it washed out to much. Suffice it to say it's bloody awesome!

And did I mention the candy? There was candy too, was being the operative word.  Cheesy

Fatewineroses, you're the best. Thanks so much!

I received a really amazing scene from my partner today. PromisedHeartbrk is awesome!

There are a lot of pics here so be patient. This graveyard scene deserves better pictures than my poor photography skills, but here goes:

Just look at the little gateposts. It's full of great details.

Here's another view:

And another:

And as if that wasn't enough, I also got a batty mug, some spooky s'mores (their tiny costumes are adorable), and some fabulous Halloween fabric.

Spooky extras:

Thanks so much, PromisedHeartbrk! You're an awesome swap partner!

Yay! I received the most beautiful little coral snake from SammyLouise40 today!

Check this out:

He's so beautiful and shiny. I'm sorry the first one didn't make it, Sammy, but I really love this one. I appreciate your efforts, he's fantastic! Thank you.

I'm so excited! I received from IsikkahJai and I got lots of bunny goodness.

Here's an amazing bunny wall hanging made to look like stained glass. Such a cute and clever idea. I'm going to have to steal it.

Then I got the most adorable set of cards. The envelopes are sealed with origami, bejeweled bunny shapes and the cards are all hand drawn. I'm impressed with talent like this.

I think she managed to hit all the famous bunnies and bunny styles. What a great package to get. Thanks, IsikkahJai!

I'm so glad you and your girls like everything, Isi. I love the pic of the kids with the egg cozies.  Smiley

And I'm so happy you like the bunny hoop! We briefly had a little cottontail like that when I was a kid so I hoped you'd love that design as much as I do.

Looking forward to receiving my package Friday!

Here's the bunny right side up.  Smiley

I knew bunnies were fast but to make it all the way to Australia is awesome!  Smiley

Here's a cute bunny picture. I got it off the internet, I don't own it.

My craft is taking a little longer than expected but it's coming along.

7  Re: Circus Main Attraction and Sideshow Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Mellius01 on: June 13, 2015 01:38:20 PM
I received the most wonderful package from emilywilde today. It's hard to hit all the favorites of someone when you have a list to work from, but she managed to do it.

First is a trapeze girl doll:

I absolutely love trapeze and she captured the litheness and elegance of the trapeze acrobats. The doll is made from cotton thread, such tiny, intricate stitches. She even has ears. I'm in awe! Her skirt is an antique hanky and her top is made of ribbon. She came with a hanger but I can't seem to get the "hang" of it. (See what I did there?  Grin)

Then I got a shadow box with my other circus favorites:

It says, "Life is a Circus" (so true). It has animal acts (a tiger and trained seal), the cutest tiny little knitted elephant (again, I can't believe the stitching craftsmanship), a fortune teller, a fortune, a strong man, a trapeze artist, an admission ticket, and a tiny little bear. This all brings back such fond memories of the circus. I couldn't be happier.

Thanks so much, Emily. You're an awesome swap partner!

I couldn't focus on work today I was so excited to get Ludi's package. It arrived on time and wow, I was so moved when I opened it and saw my wonderful treasures.

First thing I saw was this card:

Turned out it saw me too.  Cheesy Ahem... Moving on...

Not pictured is the yummy candy included in my box: a bag of smarties, a bag of candy corn, and a candy bar with fruit inside. The subsequent massacre was unrecorded but oh so tasty.

Then there was this delightful little pumpkin patch fridge magnet:

Just look at the stitching on this. It's about an inch and three quarters. All those tiny stitches are incredible to me. And I love the expression on the jack o'lantern. I'm going to have it on my fridge forever.

Now for the piece de resistance, a Headless Horseman diorama:

There's a battery pack that backlights this and looks like the moon throwing the horseman into silhouette. I've always been crazy about the Headless Horseman, it's such a striking image it always gives me a thrill to see it. This is the perfect representation of the image I've loved since I was a kid. I can't thank you enough for this, Ludi. I really, really love this and I am humbled by your crafting skills.

9  Halloween Owl in Needlework: Completed Projects by Mellius01 on: October 31, 2013 08:03:54 PM
I did this pattern from the Just Cross Stitch Halloween Ornament magazine. I used fiddlers cloth instead of the black background suggested and I think it turned out pretty well. This is before it was hooped.

I love the orange and yellows in this. I liked it so much I did another one on black, but that picture didn't turn out.

10  Mad Witch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Mellius01 on: October 25, 2013 04:59:39 AM
My partner received in the OTT October Holiday Swap so it's safe to post this. She and I both had Mad Hatter Day as one of our themes so I made a Mad Hatter witch hat.

I used satin thread for the spider because I thought it might give it a little sheen but it didn't really. It still adds a little contrast though.
