1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Happy Saint Distaff Day!! on: January 07, 2013 06:45:41 AM
I just saw an email about St. Distaff day (not a real saint).  I thought that was fantastic.  Have a happy St. Distaff Day and spin something lovely for yourself! Grin
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Daughter's First Sewing Project on: December 31, 2012 03:48:26 PM
My daughter is 8 and I decided that she should learn to use a sewing machine this year.  So I gave her a Janome Mini Sewing Machine for Christmas.  She also received some supplies and fabric from Grandma.

We just got back home from Grandma's house today and of course she had to start right away.

She sewed a doorhanger from a Hello Kitty Panel she recieved(with a little help from Mom).  I'm sooo proud of her!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / DIY Date Night Swap on: July 07, 2012 11:58:25 AM
So I was trolling pintrest boards and found a number of pins for things like a jar of craft sticks that each have a date night idea with different colored sticks for different cost dates, etc., a list of 50 date night ideas, a date night in a box with a scavenger hunt, prompts to make a list of things you love about your significant other and a board game.  I started thinking that it might be fun to make something like this but it would lose some of the sense of surprise if I made these things for me and DH.  So...what about a DIY Date Night Swap?

I think these date night craft ideas are very cool but you could go many different directions with this.

  • make an "intimate" game
  • a kit for a date to include things like bouquet of flowers with a book of favorite recipes for dinner and prompt for an activity after dinner
  • a breadfast in bed date- recipes for breakfast in bed, crossword puzzles that have romatic clues, a vase for a flower, a set of matching coffee/tea mugs, mug rugs, favorite teas or coffee blends
  • a sexy date kit with things like pasties, a willy warmer, etc

and probably a ton of other ideas that my little brain can't come up with but I know you clever crafters can come up with.

Any one interested?

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Scarf Swap on: November 24, 2010 03:53:09 PM

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday - December 18, 2009 on: December 18, 2009 03:57:00 PM
I've been waiting for this fiber Friday and it's late here but I guess I'll start one anyway.
I received this beautiful batt from elociNNicole in the IYP 14 swap.
It was so beautiful I had to spin it right up.  And this is the yarny goodness still on my Kiwi!

Thanks again elociNNicole!

Happy Fiber Friday everyone.
9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday - November 13, 2009 on: November 13, 2009 12:37:39 PM
I can't believe there isn't a Fiber Friday the 13th yet!  I guess I'll use this as my shot at being the Fiber Friday opener.

The first one I'm calling Mermaid because it makes me think of a fairytale sea home for a mermaid.  I purchased the roving on Etsy.  I am just getting into plying and this is try number 3 or so.  I think it came out well.  It's a sport/worsted weight BFL.

Then I did some dying of my own on some mill ends.  It was supposed to be purple and I got purple and a few other colors.  I like the way it came out.  I spun it thick and thin and there are some spots where the mohair was really concentrated which make this a funky bulky weight yarn.  This one doesn't have a name, any one have any great ideas?

I hope I did FF a justified kick off....
10  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / August 2009 Birthday Swap - 1 Angel Found!! on: September 26, 2009 12:53:28 PM
Thank you olive_juice for agreeing to angel!

One of my August Birthday Swappers need an angel!

topic: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315595.0

gallery: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315596.0

lovesclutters clutter has been waiting patiently for her package on this swap and she worked hard shipping 4 birthday packages for other August babies so we really need a wonderful angel to send one medium item for her belated birthday present.

Here is her birthday list, PM me if you would like to be her angel:

Hi, I go by lovesclutter for obvious reasons, and my birthday is August 27th, very near the end of the month. I have just started crafting after not sewing anything for (well, let's just say a lot of years). I live in Knoxville, TN and am currently unemployed. I went for a round 2 interview last Friday so if I'm lucky that will change.

I love to make crazy quilt bags, throws, pillows and such out of 'fugly' fabric and I can make poppets, not as good as Ghilie but getting better. I do smoke and have cats. I keep projects in cases while I am not working on them, and when I am I don't smoke, so I cannot guarantee they will not have some residual. I will gladly fabreeze anything.

my wish list for the birthday swap

Anything from my wists. Thank you SO much Beccas_song
