1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / wicca inspired fairy quilt on: Today at 06:06:26 AM
I have an awesome cousin. She has had a rough go for a couple of years. And this popped into my head fully fleshed out.

I scoured the Internet to make sure I was right in order of things and conferred with a pagan friend.

The four elements are loosely in the compass direction they would be placed in. (earth=north). The phase of the Moon is also in the associated element. And they glow in the freaking dark! (Yay fabric paint) also the freezer paper stencilled fairies (glitter fabric paint) are loosely masculine or feminine in appearance and are also in the element they are related to. Smiley

The back was a blue and green circle pattern that made me think of old school fairy rings and I used purple bobbin thread. Some of my reading let me think that purple was associated with the 'spirit' element that ties the other four together. I thought it was fitting.

Was delivered Saturday. And I'm pretty sure it will be well loved. I mean her hubby try to claim it first. Wink

Some close up picks of some of the paper piecing. And traditional blocks.

But which one of us is going to get drunk and start singing about hedgehogs <wink>?

I'm not saying it's happened before... But it's happened before. I'm a natural alto. Wink.

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quick applique question! HALP! on: April 23, 2015 03:15:45 PM
I would go with your second option. But I also intensely dislike appliqueing and will. Always take the easiest route. Smiley

I would like to think I'm part Angua. Cool, collected, confident and in control. But I also have a large dose of Agnes X Nitt.  Calm, dependable, insecure and practical...  And just a soupon of Cohen The Barbarian. Efficient, relaxed, alert and long lived.

I feel my spirit animal is Susan Sto Helit.

My anti me... Rincewind? My fight relfex is more tuned than my flight... Maybe Colon... My people skills arent so great.

Not as fond. That's an apt description.

I suppose Nation would be mine. It was OK. But based on rereads it's very low. Some of the newer books are taking more time to grow on me. Jingo  was like that too. But it is so deliciously subversive.

It's not like my Good Omens problem. I have since 1993 bought eleven copies. Lent out ten that never returned. Seems a good investment. I reread Good Omens probably four times a year. When I worked at the book store (from 97-01) I sold more copies than they ever had... and when it shut down last year... I still had the record. Smiley

Let us talk...what is your favourite book and why...

soul music.

It combines the whole disc. And is one of the first real showings of the mulitculturalness of the city. And the forst. Ime the city really comes out as a character in it's own right. It has wizards and watch and death. And Librarian. After all. Arent we all Born To Rune?

And some of the sneakiest puns in all of the books.

Wink

Med or large. Maybe just one awesome pratchett thing?  I have the best idea and want to make it for someone.
