D'aw.

I loved the multiple spinny geese. So fun and added such a subtle movement to the finished quilts.
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / july scrap. whew I made it! on: July 27, 2015 05:40:09 PM
I wasn't sure this one was going to get done this month. I've been CRAZY with work and when I'm not working I'm running away to to woods. (and not to mention the sewing room was unusable after my miserable winter of haunted quilts)

So I had two day off. In a row this week. Yesterday I cleaned the sewing room. And last night I made the top. And today I quilted and bound it. Smiley

Sometimes quilts tell me where they want to go live while I'm working on them. This one, last night wanted to to to K's house. This afternoon. It said "no. I wanna go live with T" now I don't know what to do.

So I had a pretty productive day. Bunch of stuff posted. Nothing is trimmed or tidied. It will be. Smiley

Also. I made this. Took my bins to th porch last night at 8. Had the top done by 1210. Basted, quilted and bound  today. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=440147.0 .

I'm having some bad luck this round for sure lol.  So I finished the Chinese Lanterns but they are 13" tall.  And the pattern says they are supposed to be 12.5" square so...what am I doing wrong?  Even when I do the math on the pattern pieces I come up with 13" and it seems like kind of a lot to trim off.  Did anyone else have this happen?  I'm not sure if I should just trim or what...

I may have found the issue. In the pattern it tells you to cut 4.5" black an white. Sew together. And cut 2. 2" pieces from it. If you're like me and just whacked that big black and white in half (like seem sensible) you end up with a final block , a half inch tall.

But maybe you read the instructions right an I'm reaching at straws. Smiley

Melladh.  Quick question.  Do you want your garden fence blocks to be colour coordinated between center and outer (eg.blue and blue)? Or can i mix and match (eg.blue and yellow) (but make it. Bright cheerful and pretty)?

For those who are making my fences, dont feel you have to keep yellows with yellows or oranges with oranges. Mix it all up as you like.

I just got back from four days camping with the boys. Im bug bitten, sunburnt and tired and i am happy and relaxed. Work tomorrow wont be fun. But since im at the bakery in the morning i have a huge split between my day shift and my bar shift so... I will be cleaning my sewing room. Or starting it any way. I just havent had time this month and it is too untidy to work in at. All.

I tried. Wink i got one nine patch and tweleve strips of the pixels done before i had to flee...

Then i am getting down to serious sewing catch up!  I still have a commission art quilt for a restaurant that opened a week ago, my july scrap quilt AND all your blocks to get done!

 Cry

It is the prefect rainy cool day to be trapped in my sewing room with the music blasting away the misery of outside. The steam of the iron warming up the space, the colours and the flash  of the rotary cutter helping the world outside fade away.

Instead, i will put on my bar blacks and head to work.

(I havent sewn a stitch in almost two weeks and my mental health is starting to show it... Makers gotta make.)

I dunno what to say. My block is 12.5... the only thing I can think is someone may have trimmed to the solid line instead of the dotted line before sewing the quadrants together?

Sorry ladies. This was supposed to be an easy one.

Have fun. Wink

Quaggy, adding another 1/4" would bring the block to the right size BUT it would screw up the design. When I measured my templates, the 1" test square measured 1" but the actual template for the quarter segment measured 6 1/4" square. From my perspective we have several choices: 1- everyone adds 1/4" to only the outside edges (NOT the interior) or 2- we go with the template as is and all produce 11 1/2" squares, then Sloth can use wider sashing or wider borders to make up the difference or just go with it as is and make a slightly smaller quilt (3" narrower and 4" shorter).

Sloth, which would you prefer or do you have a different suggestion?

Uhhhh. Thats complex for the middle of the night. Let me measure my test and see what i came up with.  Really tho. I am the least fussy and most. "Meh lets sew it all together and force it towork" quilter there is. So maybe there will be send what you get and ill bash it together. But i will check my measuements in the morning.

Why is it failed?  It looks pretty good to me!

Love that lime color...mottled...
I we find that question. It looks just fine.
And I love those mottled blenders. I was wrapping my fat quarter hoard and realised I bought quite a few last week.Smiley
