1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Waistcoat lining/facing help needed please on: December 18, 2014 05:33:30 PM

Thanks for your reply. I have just twigged I called it a waistcoat...you probably know it best as a vest =) I don't think the facing is part of the lining it is made with the same material as the front of the garment.

It is not a costume it is his Christmas present =)

How about doing an ongoing calendar swap? At the end of January we send out a made calendar with 31 Days and 28 smalls to open 1-28 Feb but not advent themed (could have Valentine's themed for some of it, if the person has some special occasion in the month could have some days themed round that) then end of Feb send out 31 smalls to open through March again not advent themed...etc for the year.

If anybody new joins through the year they could be responsible for making their own actual calendar or just opening the presents on each day (like the 12 days of Christmas) or if more than one person joins one month they can be partnered together to send a calendar and fillers.

Does that make any sense?

Hiya, I am a fairly new sewer, made some bags and a skirt for myself etc but am now trying to make my husband a waistcoat for Christmas. I was getting along nicely and feeling proud of myself until I got to the instruction to sew the front facing and the front lining together with right sides together. And I am completely stuck! I know what right side together means, but my facing and lining are not the same shape when right sides are together. Should they be? The curves are the same in that it looks like they have been "spooning" position but whichever piece of front lining I put the savings on I can't get them to match up!! I hope this makes sense and somebody 42cm help! I have spent a good 4 hours trying to figure this out, and it really needs to be completed by the end of tomorrow!
I hope that this makes sense thanks for taking the time to read it =)

I made Holistic Knitter a diamond peyote bracelet as her last item. It was the most intricate I have ever made and I was really pleased with it but unfortunately I was packing in too much of a rush to take a pic so I really hope she does post a pic! Smiley

I LOVE that stocking from P_E_S_T!

Some awesome things here! I got a wonderful stocking a few days ago too but have been unwell so have not posted noticed!

First the stocking. The rat pin is removable Smiley it is the first stocking she has ever sewn...but you would not know that!

A wonderful Christmas Shadow box which I love!

Two awesome bees wax hand dipped candles. Would love to learn how to do hand dipping!

I got two snowmen Tealights too! One had lost his hat so only pictured one.

Really pretty purple necklace and earrings!

A sweet purple cupcake pin!

A fabulous purple ribbon tree which has pride of place on the top of our tree...who needs a star or an angel?

Oh actually I DO need a star just not on top of my tree. This beautiful star is hanging in the window for the world to see!

I absolutely adore this winter scene bauble!

And last but far from least my favourite item...Purple Bunting Smiley i might have to keep this up year round!

I also got a candy cane filled with reuses, which my husband has devoured, some peppermint Lindt which I have devoured and some awesome home spun wool I forgot to photograph I will do so tomorrow!

Thanks so very much Mountains and Clouds. ..I love it all!
