2  Buzzbee Bear in CHALLENGE 101 ENTRIES by Ratfinkz on: August 05, 2014 09:27:44 AM
So last weekend my Grandma had a stroke =( luckily she is beginning to improve but it was a nightmare week last week. As she is quite a while from us and we had my in-laws coming over the weekend we have just had we are unable to get to see her until next weekend. Because I could not be there in person I decided to send her a letter and a present. I had recently bought a book with 20 different teddy bears to knit. I had bought it to make a bride and  a groom bear for someone I know who is getting married and had seen this pattern for a bear dressed as a bee. At the time I thought that is perfect for Grandma, she used to keep bees and still loves them. I thought I would buy some wool and make it for a Christmas present,  but then decided to make it to keep her company while she is in hospital. As last week was the end of the month I was very low on funds, so rooted through my stash. I managed to find the right coloured wools, although they were all different makes and the black was cheap and kept coming unspun! Anyhow....Sorry for the essay, here is Buzzbee (in the book it is a she and she is called sweet honey bee but I thought it looked more masculine, even though there are few male honey bees, and Buzzbee sounded so much better for a name!)

Sorry I have been out of touch for so long - we were away last week and then my Grandma had a stroke this week - so I have barely been online! It looks like all the little visitors are having a wonderful time especially kahiki - funky that she got photos with hawaiins!

We went to Derbyshire to stay with a couple of friends of ours - and Milo had a wonderful times seeing all the sites as did we!!

On the first day we were there we went panning for gems - which he really enjoyed (amongst other things but dont want to give too much away!)

on the second day we went to carsington waters which is a big lake / resevoir with a fun visitor centre:

on the last day we went to a town called Bakewell - where Bakewell tarts come from and had a cake and drink in the shop which first produced the Bakewell tart:

we did a lot more on holiday, but I want to keep some of it a surprise for the album!

tomorrow we are going to the sea side for the day with my mother in law - then out for a meal so I will get some photos there - we still have a trip to the zoo planned too amongst other things.

I am very sorry for taking so long to post. I received a card telling me the post office had a parcel for me two weeks ago but we were going away and had no time to collect it - then this week my Grandma had a stroke - so life has been rather hectic and I have not been online! I received the most freakingly amazing ami from mama24boys! I can not tell you how much I love it. It is Elphaba from the musical Wicked - my husband and I saw it for the first time on our honeymoon and this year we went back to see it as our 'anniversary treat' it is going to become a tradition I think - because we both really love it!

thank you SO much Smiley Please don't stop swapping - I desperately need a Glinda now!!!!!!

Before I went away I also received my hobbit door from Issikahjai - which I also love, my husband looked at it and said "that could be a hobbit door" - I said "it is!" he didnt know I was such a geek pmsl! (he is a massive Lord of the Rings fan so he loves it too!)

Then today I received my second tree art print - there was a slight problem with the first one so she very very kindly offered to make me another one - how kind is that? I also love this - at our wedding we had a canvas which we had drawn a tree on - and got people to put their thumb prints on and sign it - the thumb prints were also purple - so this matches so well!)

thank you all very very much - this was a GREAT round for me! Cheesy

6  Peyote diamond bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by Ratfinkz on: June 27, 2014 01:40:33 PM
I never spend much time making anything for myself - most things I make are for swaps or presents for people - so it has been fun spending some time lately making things for myself. I made the two starry bracelets (although I have now dismantled the first one and reused it's beads!) and then I spent a few days making this diamond peyote bracelet - which I love! It looks a bit wonky in the photo - but it is straight and flat really!

the colours are silver, purple and a bright green - didn't come out too well in the photos even after editing!

I received a beautiful charm bracelet from Avesthal, and some lovely coasters from Bec99 a few days ago - but have been too busy to upload pics - sorry guys, here they are at last!

We are going to see Wicked next weekend as a treat for our first wedding anniversary - and I plan to wear this there!

The coasters will be so useful - we were only saying a couple of weeks ago I needed to get one for my bedside table - as I have glasses full of ice to suck in bed - and condensation from them makes everything else on the table wet - so these are perfect (and I love the design of them too!)

thank you both muchly Smiley

9  Starry bracelet take 2 in Beads: Completed Projects by Ratfinkz on: June 20, 2014 02:50:30 PM
so - at the beginning of the week I created this bracelet:

I was not happy with it - so decided to play a bit more (and help improve my peyote skills) and this evening have completed this one - which I am so pleased with!
