2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: New Twist to Grannies Daughters Swap? on: September 07, 2013 01:17:05 PM
Close, I was thinking the organizer would pick a pattern.  (might do a couple rounds, so different centers)

That's why I wanted to run it by... make sure it made sense.

So, would pick out a theme, and a pattern.
This might be too much work.  I just really like pixel art, and think- wow- I am NEVER going to make all those granny squares to make a afgan.  But I might actually make a smaller one that could be the center start of one....

Just a quick link to a example of a pattern and how the colors are done.

Just starting to think out loud and wanted some thoughts.
What about where you would take a pearler bead pattern, and turn that into a center block for a afgan?  So a pattern is picked, the colors divided up, and then each makes all the people in the swap that color.  (Thinking would have to be evened out, so the person with the main color did not get stuck with a ton and the one with black gets 10 to make)
Then these could be made into a center point or a block for the afgan.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Advice for border colors? on: September 06, 2013 08:07:59 AM
Thanks for all the replies!  I went with a houndstooth!  My daughter does know about it, it was not a surprise.  It is at the shop being quilted, hopefully today.  It was supposed to be done on Wednesday, but she got behind.
I have been working on a much simpler quilt, but due to a unfortunate quilting accident with the rotary cutter, I have slowed way down on it!  (Those suckers cut quick and deep!)  I will post a finished photo once I pick it up.

I am in the process of making this for my 17 year old daughter.  I created the pattern.. but I am stuck on what to border it.  I was thinking chevron, but it may be a nightmare to keep straight!  All thoughts are welcome.
