1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: how can I make bath bombs that equal lush in scent &power-mine are weak on: Today at 03:04:48 PM
Wow, did not know that about the presses but that makes sense! I actually make mine in a mini muffin tin and to compact them I press on the top with a 2 ounce fragrance oil bottle--it fits perfectly on the top and I just put a lot of weight behind it push like crazy!
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: What is your favorite Cp or HP Oats and honey recipe? on: Today at 02:58:27 PM
Have you used milk in cold process before? It's pretty tricky as it is a superheater. You'll have to take preventative steps to make sure the soap won't burn. Honey is also a superheater.  Personally I don't make milk soaps anymore because I'm on the lazy side lol! I do love a good oats and honey soap, I generally just stick to my favorite basic soap recipe:

45% Olive oil
30% Coconut
20% Shortening (or palm oil, I prefer shortening these days)
5% Shea Butter

For a 4 lb batch of soap I would probably add 1/3 cup honey and 2/3 - 1 cup ground oats. Since honey is also a superheater, you definitely don't want to insulate your molds! If you can put them in a cold place that's good, but then sometimes you can get the dreaded partial gel.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 2016 and 2017 QuiltAlong on: Today at 12:07:54 PM
Hey guys, I need to pick your brains. I have a friend who just had triplets! She also has a 2 year old daughter. I'm going to make something small for the trips, maybe burp cloths or quilted loveys with fun fur backing, but for the big sister (who is still a baby herself) I wanted to make something a little bigger. I'm wanting to put a cute saying on it with words from my friend Sam's book (Quilt Talk) but I need help with what to do. Shorter is better since it's paper piecing, but I want something different than "big sis." Any ideas?

Yeah I don't have my poo together and not sure I will this year. I think I'll just change the title of the thread lol!

6  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Mini Art Quilt Swap 8 (Sign-ups CLOSED, Sendouts 4/24) on: March 23, 2017 09:37:56 AM
I'm leaving next Thursday for a 3 night quilt retreat with my guild! I need to finish one more thing up for the swap I'm running for that, and I'll be taking fabrics with me to work on my min art quilt swap that weekend! it's so much fun, this is the 4th guild retreat we've done.

I got asked to write a city guide for Franklin, on the craft website Cut Out + Keep.  In doing so, I have done some extra crafty exploring around town, and found 2 local quilt guilds.  After exploring them online, I decided I was more interested in one over the other, and got set to join and go to my first meeting this month....  only to discover that this month is their retreat, and I didn't want to jump into that on my first visit.  So, I'll have to wait till next month for a more regular meeting.  Smiley

Ooh, awesome! I'm excited to hear how you like that guild, hopefully it's a good fit for you!

Yeah I think it does sound like European freezer paper is completely different than what we get in the US (although the outside of my box looks the same as yours!)

Ok, sounds like we'll go with Mug Rug! you can incorporate charm squares or vintage into it if those really tickled your fancy. I'll coordinate with the person who's providing the prize and get it set up when she's ready. Her new shop will feature vintage charm packs, fat quarter sets, and quilt kits. I saw the free block pattern she's releasing the other day and it's really nice!
