We will each make/decorate a 12-16" tall stocking (cuff to heel) and fill it with goodies.  We will make/decorate and fill with our partner's tastes in mind.  Each stocking will have at least 50% crafted goodies, the remainder may be purchased supplies or items.  Everyone must post in the swap thread when they sign up as a swapper, and there will be weekly checkins every week in the thread!  It's a very long crafting period and we would hate to lose anyone along the way.  You may choose one of three sizes to do in this swap and you will be paired accordingly.  Sometimes there will be an odd number, so please note if you are willing to do (for example) Small or Medium or maybe Medium or Large or work with a 3-way swap.
Small - concentrate on a fab stocking and fill with at least 3 crafted and 3 purchased items
Medium - do a great stocking and fill with at least 7 crafted and 5 purchased items
Large - aka Spoiler!  A great stocking and no end of goodies!!

NOTE:  This is a holiday based swap so please do not send late - there are times when life interferes with crafting and we all understand that, however, a temporary negative will be given to anyone who sends more than two weeks past the sendout date, according to Craftster rules.  If you send late at all, it will be noted in your feedback.  Communication issues will also be noted.  We like to run a very nice, fun and timely swap.

I reserve the right to refuse anyone.  If you have feedback that shows a history of very sending, ill-communication, incomplete packages, lack of DC#'s, etc. I may refuse you. I want this to be a flake-free swap that is a joy for the holiday season.

How are you spending the holidays?  Perhaps you will be cozied up at The Burrow, wandering the halls of Hogwarts, or having a good old-fashioned Muggle gathering... but really what better way is there to celebrate than with a little Harry Potter Holiday crafting!  For this swap we will be exchanging Harry Potter holiday items like HP ornaments, mini-hooplas, jewelry for the Yule Ball, or a small HP present for your partner.

~*This swap is for 1 small item (1-2 hours crafting time) in the theme of HP Holiday.
***Please note that while many folks in the swap will celebrate Christmas, this swap is open to EVERYONE and swappers are welcome to ask for Yule, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year's other other holiday themes if they prefer.***

~*You can have up to 3 partners.  EXCEPTION: First-time swappers will be limited to 1 partner.  This is to help ease you into the swap process.

~*You can Invite Your Own Partners!  If you obtain an Invite Your Partner (IYP), PM your organizer, Mistress Jennie, after both sides agree.  Questionnaires will not be sent out until signups closing, but you are more than welcome to start sharing your questionnaire and crafting for your IYP as soon as you are approved for the swap.  REMEMBER: You must be approved for the swap before announcing IYPs, and BOTH parties must agree.

IMPORTANT NOTES
~* Since this is a holiday swap, if you have not sent by 3 days past Sendouts, you will get temporary negative.  I don't mean to be harsh, but it is sad to not to receive your holiday parcel during holiday time.  This temporary negative will be reversed when your partner receives.
~* If you do not have IYP and I am pairing, that will be done by random draw (with appropriate attention to allergies and shipping given).
~* You may agree with your partner to send extras, but remember that is not regulated through me and not part of feedback.

~*BE SURE TO READ THIS ENTIRE POST.  There is a secret pass phrase within this post, to help ensure that you read all of the information.  You must include this pass phrase in your questionnaire in order to join the swap.

If you want to participate, fill out the below questionnaire and send to organizer.
(Remember to send your info to the organizer via Private Message (PM) and not to reply with it here)

Confirm that are at least 16 years old or, if not, that you have moderator approval (yes/no):

*Confirm that you understand if you do not send by 3 days past Sendout Deadline, then you will receive a temporary negative. (yes/no):

Remember to read the Swap Info Guide and Swap FAQs before participating in a swap.

Note about Personal Messages (PMs) to Organizer: Please label PMs to organizer with title of "HP Holiday" or "HPH".

Note about Communication: For a wonderful swap experience, communication is the key.  Please keep in touch with your partner.  Please note that per Craftster rules, you MUST post in this thread at least once a week to let us know you are still around.  (You can stop in for a quick hello.....or if on holiday or will be without internet access or anything of the such, just post a message....it gives your partner and organizer warm fuzzy feelings to know you are still around).

Notes about Sending, Receiving, and Feedback
  • SENDING: Take pictures of your items before you send.  When sending, you must use a DC# (or for overseas keep that receipt). Keep your receipt until your partner receives.  PM organizer and partner when you send.
  • RECEIVING: PM organizer and partner when you receive.  Take pictures of received items. (Please take quality pictures, like ones you would take of your work.)  Post pictures in gallery in a timely manner.
  • FEEDBACK: Given when a package is received (verified through PM or DC#) Detailed feedback will be given.  Examples: Sent Early or Lack of Communication: No PMs of Sending/Receiving.
.

HPH5 FAQs
---NO, you do not have to send extras.  Do not fret about if you are only sending 1 small item; that is all that is required for this swap.  Yes, some of us will send more, but don't underestimate the glory of 1 fabulous small HP craft.

---NO, your HPH5 item does NOT have to be an ornament; I will not give negative feedback for sending something other than an ornament.  Believe it or not, some peeps don't want ornaments.  Here communication is key!  Find out what your partner wants; first place to check, their questionnaire.  Wink

---The secret pass phrase is: 'emotional range of a teaspoon'

---A small item should take 1-2 hours of crafting time.  YES, you may send a set of related extra-smalls that equal that crafting time if you wish.  (And yes, you can go over that time; I probably will.)

ORGANIZED SWAPS / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Mini 12 Days of Christmas 2016 (sign up 8/6 to 8-17/16; s/o 11-23-16) by Helena Puck
Date started: August 06, 2016 12:55:21 PM, Replies: 225

It's that time of year again!  Time to sign up for the MINI 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS SWAP!!!!  It may seem a bit early to some, but I love knowing theres a long crafting time.  Especially since this swap is on the bigger side and the holidays can be hectic so, starting early just makes things easier and stress free.

This is a swap for all you Craftsters out there who would like to do a Christmas/Holiday swap but, feel that the original 12 Days Of Christmas swap is too big for them.  Be sure to read everything through and that you understand it all. If you have any questions feel free to post them in this thread or send me a pm.

Gallery!

Swap name: MINI 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2016
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Helena Puck

Date to send items by: November 23, 2016
Limited to a certain number of people: 30 (if more people join, I will need a co-organizer)
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No
All ages allowed? 16 and over, regardless of your age make sure you have a way to the PO and the means to participate in this swap.

I reserve the right to deny any Craftster's entrance into this swap for any reason including the following...
-ANY "negative" feedback and/or comments
-poor communication in past swaps
-consistently sending late in past swaps
Note: I will also leave feedback reflecting your actual participation in the swap (good/poor communication, early/late sending, etc)

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
- Is at least 18 years old: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month.  YES
- Has posted at least 15 times.  YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps.  YES
- Does not have any negative feedback.  YES
- Has participated and received positive feedback in at least 1 other swap.  YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 16 years old: YES
- If within the US, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES
- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES

Details of swap:

The idea of this swap is to craft for your partner 12 items based on their interests, going along with the idea of the 12 Days Of Christmas song. The items that you make DO NOT have to be the items in the 12 days of Christmas song. The items sent/received can be BOTH everyday items and Christmas/Winter themed goodies. You will make 6 small items for days 1-6, for days 7-10 you will make medium items and days 11 & 12 will be large items. So that is 2 large, 4 medium and 6 smalls for a total of 12 days.

So, the break down will be:
DAYS BREAKDOWN:
Days 1-6 small
Days 7-10 medium
days 11-12 large

In the past round it was 75% crafted items & 25% store bought.
(extras are optional and are solely up to you.)

Below are Craftster guidelines for size requirements to help everyone. If you are having troubles with a certain size feel free to make an equivalent to the particular size. For instance, instead of a medium, you could look at the guidelines and substitute the 1 medium for perhaps 2 or 3 smalls. Just be sure to look at the guidelines and use your best judgment. Put yourself in your partners shoes and ask yourself if you think you would be happy with the equivalent of the items they choose. And, if in doubt, you can always send a pm to me and get a second opinion, and if youre still in doubt, ask another person in this swap. Here are the guidelines:

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse, DIY kits, blankets, bags, totes, cable knitted items, place mat sets, cable leg warmers, pretty knit socks, kitchen set of potholders/apron, set of embellished dish towels.
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf, wrist warmers, thread catcher, note card set, hats, magic yarn ball, embroidered pillow case, apron, stencil shirts.
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks, hand carved stamps, coasters, pot holder, key chain, dish clothes, decorated frames, journals, head bands, pincushion, heat packs.

Please note-these are just ideas of crafts to make.  I have potholders in the small category.  However, if you make an intricate one with lots of pieces or an embroidered one, it could also count as a medium, or if you make a set of 4 that could be considered medium too.  I just put it in the small category because I was thinking of one simple potholder.  So, please use your best judgment with sizes.  You can always ask my opinion or another swappers opinion if you want.  I think the most important thing is to put yourself in the receivers shoes Would you be happy receiving a simple potholder as a small item?  Would you be happy if your large item was a cabled scarf?  Anyways..

Note: In the past there has been slight confusion on how to label packages.  So just to make it clear the first package you want your partner to open, you label as #1.  Then for the 2nd package you want them to open youd label #2 the second and so on.  So, #12 package would be the last package opened.  You can also label them by dates, as in put 'DEC 14th' on the first gift your partner will open then the last gift would be labeled DEC 25th.  Either way you want to label them is fine.  Just make sure that the small gifts are opened first and the last gifts opened are the large.

The RULES:
1. You must send ALL PM's to Helena Puck and all PM's must have the subject line: Mini 12 Days of Christmas 2016.

2. You must post in the original thread at least once a week! This starts once partners are assigned. That is only about 10 posts.

3.PM's must be sent to Helena Puck and your partner when you send and receive. If you are sending within the USA or Canada you must get a DC# / tracking # and send it to Helena Puck and your partner. If you are sending outside of your country, you must keep your receipt as proof of shipping, it will be requested if there are any problems! This is mandatory!

4. When you open each days package, you will then need to post in the gallery. I ask that you post pictures within a reasonable amount of time. I know that the Holiday season can be quite hectic, but please get them posted within 5 days of opening. Posting pictures is a requirement for this swap! If you don't have a digital camera and cannot get access to one, please ask your partner to take pictures before they send.

5. The following items are NOT allowed in swap packages:
- Anything that is illegal in the U.S. or wherever you are sending your package to or from.
- Any items that have a legal age requirement to consume in the U.S. such as tobacco, alcohol, pornography etc.
- Mixed CDs containing copyrighted music or similar, including copied software, CDs, DVDs, etc
If you are uncertain please check Craftsters guidelines as well as your local post office

6. If you are sending BAKED GOODS, please only send them if you and your partner live in the same country. I don't want anyone's package to go MIA with the lovely customs officials. Also, if you are sending baked goods, you may leave them out of your package and send them individually so they arrive in a timely manner and don't spoil or go stale.

7. I highly recommend that you wrap your items in a plastic bag/trash bag/ or some other protective wrapping INSIDE the box you are sending. Because of the time of the year packages can get WET due to the post office/ups/etc. leaving them on the doorstep AND some swappers have suggested that you also do this with anything you might send to a hot climate that might melt on your swap goodies.

8. Also, if you will be shipping to a partner that is in a HOT climate during the swap send outs, please do not include anything that might melt on their swap goodies. Think about wrapping them in a plastic baggie or something similar.

9. Here is some info from the USPS on the Flat Rate Boxes: these can be used for Domestic and International but the rates differ for International shipments. And if you purchase your postage online at usps.com or by paypal, com you get a small discount on the postage price. The Flat Rate boxes themselves are FREE (you still have to pay for postage ) from your local post office and also FREE if you get them online from the website usps.com, they will deliver them to you free of charge too!! Canada has some shipping envelopes that can be used within the country or region and prices will vary, but if you are sending something heavy they are a good choice.

10. I highly recommend that each of you put together a WIST or a PINTEREST. These are a huge help for your swap partner. They get to look through all the things you have put into it to get a feel for what you like.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your packages and other details about participating in a swap.

AND AS A REMINDER:
Please remember to keep in the holiday spirit.  Extras are optional-but quality is NOT optional.  I want everyone to receive nice items that were crafted/bought with them in mind.  So, in other words Please read their questionnaire over and over and make sure you are sending them something they will like, and not just random things thrown in a box.  Its never fun to receive a thought-less package, especially when they worked hard to make you crafty wonderful-ness from the heart.

Boro embroidery

Slow Cloth

What can I do with these patches, you ask? You could use these to patch your jeans, your jacket, collect more and make a purse, or use them as part of a bigger art project!

We will be signing up for one to two partners (new swappers limited to one partner), and you and your partner will agree on the exact number of patches to swap, between 1 and 3 patches of equitable sizes. For example, if partner 1 would like a 4" x 6" patch and their partner wants 3" x 4" patches, partner 1 should be making two 3" x 4" patches for every 4" x 6" patch received. Communication with your partner is key and please make sure your exchanges are fair!

This swap is a Mini 13 days of Halloween swap. Instead of opening all your presents at once like in other swaps, we count down the days to Halloween starting with 10/01. You will open day 13 on October the 1st, day 12 on October the 2nd and so on until 10/13.

-A minimum of 13 items, one for each day.

Some things to think about:
*THIS SWAP IS LARGE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY ON JOINING AND IF YOU DOUBT YOU CAN DO IT PLEASE DONT JOIN.  WE WANT THIS SWAP TO BE TOTALLY FLAKE FREE!!!!

* I STRONGLY recommend that you have a Pinterest board for this swap, as it helps out your partner greatly. Please keep this updated and have at least 20 items on it. If you do not have a Pinterest board, please have another way to show items to your partner that you like (Etsy favorites, flickr, etc...)

*If you are sending BAKED GOODS, please only send them if you live in the same country as your partner. We do not need to tempt customs people to keep your package after you have worked so hard on it! Also, if you are sending baked goods you should make this the package that is opened on day 1!

*I highly recommend that you wrap your items in a plastic bag/trash bag/ or some other protective wrapping INSIDE the box you are sending. Things can get wet from rain and/or snow OR things can melt in hot temperatures.

I reserve the right to refuse anyone. If you have feedback that shows a history of incomplete packages, very late sending, ill-communication, lack of DC #'s, etc. I may refuse you. I want this to be a flake-free swap.

Details of swap: I absolutely adored the Giant Multi-Theme Swaps and would love to do another round. (Me too for that matter!)  Basically, this is a swap for people want to have more than one theme contained within one swap. You choose 5 themes of something, i.e. trees, tea, autumn, owls, and stars.  Your partner would then have to craft 2 lots of one large and a small for 2 themes, 2 mediums for another, 6 smalls for another, 1 medium and 3 smalls for another. This would be their choice.

Here's a breakdown of the crafting themes & sizes
theme 1: 6 smalls
theme 2: 1 large and a small
theme 3: 1 medium and 3 smalls
theme 4: 1 large and a small
theme 5: 2 mediums

Examples of Sizes
Large: 3 hours or more; $30 or more in supply value, shawl, shirt, project tote, apron, set of pillowcases, set of tea towels, large stuffie
Medium: 2 hours but no more than 3 hours to complete, $15-$30 in supply value, necklace, belt, bracelet, scarf, deluxe pincushion
Small: at least 1 hour but no more than 2 hours to complete, $5-$15 in supply value, pouch, stickers, earrings, bookmark
.

You must be absolutely dedicated to this swap; it needs a lot of time and care inputted.
Think carefully before signing up.

Note about Communication: For a wonderful swap experience, communication is the key.  Please keep in touch with your partner.  Further, it would be nice if you would post in this thread at least once a week (you could just stop in for a quick hello.....or if on holiday or will be without internet access or anything of the such, just post a message....it gives your partner and organizer warm fuzzy feelings to know you are still around).

Notes about Sending, Receiving, and Feedback
SENDING: Take pictures of your items before you send.  When sending, you must use a DC# (or for overseas keep that receipt). Keep your receipt until your partner receives.  PM organizer and partner when you send.
RECEIVING: PM organizer and partner when you receive.  Take pictures of received items. (Please take quality pictures, like ones you would take of your work.)  Post pictures in gallery in a timely manner.
FEEDBACK: Given when a package is received (verified through PM or DC#) Detailed feedback will be given.  Examples: Sent Early or Lack of Communication: No PMs of Sending/Receiving.

Details of swap:
Many mixed-media artists out there have fun with Happy Mail swaps so lets bring one to Craftster! For this swap, youll beautifully decorate an envelope (something around a 6x9ish) in the way of your choice paint it, mix media it up, add fabric, whatever inspires you. (Remember, whatever you do, you need to leave white spots or labels for your addresses!) Then, youll include FIVE small but handmade (or hand altered) embellishments or crafting doo-dads for your partner to enjoy.

This is a low-pressure swap, with the only requirement being that you must send along five hand-made or hand-altered goodies, rather than store-bought. (Let's keep this inexpensive!)

What are crafting doo-dads, you ask? Here are some ideas!
Handmade  stickers, cards, altered tags, crafty ephemera, glue stencils, inchies, altered paperclips, ATCs, hand-cut stencils, paper feathers, paper flowers, altered buttons, etc. (And many other ideas not even mentioned here! Use your imagination, as long as someone can craft with it and you made it.)

ORGANIZED SWAPS / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Craftster Card Swap (SignUps 7/15/16-7/29/16 CLOSED, Sendouts 8/15/16) by underthemountain

CRAFTSTER CARD SWAP
This is the first ever (and hopefully not the last) Crafster Card Swap.  This swap was inspired by the What do you look like thread on the Crafster Off-Topic Chit Chat and the awesome Crafster Canada Meetup in July that made me want to find out more about my Crafster friends!  The idea is to make a card all about you, kinda like a baseball card, but even more awesome.  You can reproduce your card or create new ones for each of your partners.  You can craft it from any material, but make sure that it is sturdy and that it will fit into a card sleeve if you are using different materials.  Please use both the front and backsides of your card to tell us all about you!

BASIC CARD REQUIREMENTS

There are some basic requirements that should be on your card:
Size of the card: Should be the standard ATC 2.5" x3.5"
Front side: should include your image (can be done as a photo, drawing, painting, digitally altered, completely up to you!) and your Crafster name
Back side: can include your interests, your real name, address, etc. ..whatever you are comfortable with; you can even write a poem.  Completely open!

Thanks to rockingbearbranch .  I used her wonderful ATC swap as a template.  Grin

- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES/NO

Details of swap:

Are you an EPP junkie? Does the sight of neat little stacks of stitched up hexagons make you smile with delight? Do you have dreams of making a quilt with hundreds of hexies? Could you use a bit more variety in your hexie stash? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is the swap for you!

In this swap, you will be exchanging 24 squares of quality, 100% quilting cotton with up to each member of the swap. This may mean that you will have to send out of your country, but fabric squares are small and light, so postage should be lower. You may also have the option to swap finished hexies and/or a small item made with hexies (such as a pincushion, mug rug, etc.).

What size squares do you need?

The size of the hexagon is determined by the length of one side. So, a 1" hexie has sides that measure 1" each. To determine the size of the square you need, refer to the information below.

1/4" hexie = 1" square
1/2" hexie = 1 1/2" square
3/4" hexie = 2" square
1" hexie = 2 1/2" square
1 1/4" hexie = 3" square
1 1/2" hexie = 3 1/2" square
2" hexie = 4 1/2" square
3" hexie = 6 1/2" square

So, it seems like the formula for the size of the square is: 2X the side length  plus a 1/2".

So, a 2 1/2" hexie would need a 5 1/2" square (2 1/2" X 2= 5", plus 1/2"= 5 1/2")

Note: If you need larger squares, but are partnered with someone who needs much smaller squares, you may want to consider sending your partner a few extra squares Smiley

What do I need to know about sending finished hexies?

A finished hexie is one that has already been stitched into the hexagon shape. When sending finished hexies, please adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Please use card stock (or index cards) to make your templates so your partner can reuse them.
2. Please punch a hole in the center of the template to make them easier to remove.
3. Please be sure that your template is the correct size for your partner. Remember that a hexie's size is determined by the length of one side.
4. Please leave the template in the hexies when you mail them.
5. Please check with your partner to see if they would like you to stitch through the template to the front along the sides of the hexagon. (While this can hold the template in place, especially for larger hexies, some people don't remove the basting from the hexies. It can also reduce the number of times the template can be reused.)
6. If you plan to use glue to help to hold the template in place, please check with your partner first. Also, please make sure to use a glue stick that is specifically for use with fabric.

What can I make with my hexies?

Well, if you don't want to make a quilt, I've started a board on Pinterest with some ideas for smaller projects. Check it out here: http://pin.it/pB0s5aT

SWAP DETAILS:
Here's how it works:
In this swap, you can contact anyone on Craftster and ask them to be your partner. It's almost like a personal swap, but with a group, and a killer gallery! You will have to sign up with your partner. That is, you must contact your potential partner via pm and you both must mutually agree to be partnered together. Once you have a partner, each of you must pm me with your information, and after doing all the necessary double checking, I will post you both together as participants and add this swap to your "In progress" feedback.

Swappers may have two partners this round! However, if you have any instances of 'poor swapping' documented in your feedback (such as 'no communication' 'did not craft in the spirit of the swap') or numerous instances of sending very late, I ask that you only craft for one partner. You may not have more than two partners.  ** New swappers may only have 1 partner**
As partners, you will choose if you want to have a theme, if you want to stalk each other and be surprised, or if you want to request from each other things you have admired in the past. You should also agree on quantity. I would suggest one "large" (time consuming and/or valuable) item, and a couple of "small" (quicker to craft) items that you know your partner will like.  But make sure that you both agree on a size.  Feel free to start crafting for your partner as soon as you are both officially signed up!
If you want to participate, but you are a bit shy of just asking someone, you can PM me and you'll be put on a list of "Potential Partners" in the next post, so people can choose from craftsters that are interested.

 RULES:
Please check into the thread once per week.
swappers will receive temporary negative feedback if:
- it is one week past send-outs and you are out of communication for 2 weeks
- it is two weeks past send-outs and you have not yet sent, regardless of the communication with us and your partner.

Even if you decide with your partner that you are sending late and she/he says its alright, you MUST send by two weeks past the send out date or this will be reflected in negative feedback. Once you do send and your partner has received, your feedback will be changed back to positive.  However, this late sending will be reflected in your feedback comments even if you communicated.

THIS IS A VERY IN DEPTH SWAP AND WE ARE TRADING WITH PEOPLE WE LIKE. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND BE READY TO SEND ON TIME!

The secret password phrase is: little bunny foo-foo!

ONE NOTE: It is a little scary to ask someone to be your partner. Some people may have someone else already in mind, or they may not have the time or funds to participate right now, or they may just not be interested. We need to remember to be nice if we feel we need to refuse someone, and to not take it personally if someone else turns us down.

So, in summary, here's what you need to do:

1. Contact your partner (make sure they're in good standing, swapwise), and agree to join together
2. Both partners must PM luckdragon and each other with the questionnaire including mailing information.
3. Post in this thread weekly so I can keep up with you!
4. Make sure you can mail on time, and provide organizer with a USPS tracking number for U.S. packages.  If you are shipping internationally, make sure to save your post office receipt.
5. PM your partner and organizer when you receive as well! Your partner CANNOT get feedback unless we know that the package was received. Thank your partner both in a PM and publicly in the gallery. If you are unable to post pictures, please let your partner know before they send to you so that they can make sure to take pictures to post.  We all want to see what you got!
6. Lack of PMs to organizer and your partner will be noted in feedback!!!
7. Have fun!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer (luckdragon) AND to your partner

Details of swap:

*** Disclaimer - I will do my best to partner people up according to themes but shipping requirements, allergies and number of participants may make it difficult to come up with perfect partnering!

- This swap is for mini junk journals,  You will make your partner a junk journal that is a minimum of 4"x6" with a front cover, 20 sheets (that would be 20 fronts, 20 backs, so if you numbered them with page numbers they would number 1-40), and then a back cover.
- Half the sheets should be embellished.  This could be stamped, or with ribbon/lace, pockets, tags, brads, hanging bookmarks, borders, etc.
- The other half do not need to be embellished but would need to be some sort of decorative or otherwise designed paper (not just plain printing paper), Examples of things you can use: old calendar pages/images, magazine pages, junk mail envelopes, paint chips, paper bags, book pages, playing cards, greeting cards, yellow mailing envelopes, ziploc baggies, postcards or pasteboard packaging that have been gessoed/painted over, gelli printed pages, and other interesting but not bought (i.e. scrapbook) items.    (you CAN use scrapbook type items but it is NOT required)
- Then bind it in some way.  The simplest is punching holes and just using O rings and you can decorate them with ribbons and such so they don't look so plain. But you could do any sort of binding you like.

This swap is just for the book with pages.  You would not do any actual journaling in it.  The recipient would use if for their own purposes.

A video tutorial series
steps 1 - 3 are mostly about cutting paper and gathering materials.  She uses a lot of store-bought, pre-made stuff.  That is not necessary.  junk journals can be made out of, well junk Smiley  I would check other sites out for types of ephemera other people use.  Probably you could skip steps 1-3 and still have a good idea what she did.
step 1 - about cutting paper and covers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f84PHdXlXlY
step 2 - about gathering embellishments.  she does mostly/exclusively flat decorated journals, but you don't have to be limited to flat items.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIu3hyAw5kY
step 3 - gathering inks and stamps to use
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGOQ0g3RKZE
step 4 - starting to put it all together - flips through her pages and shows where she inked/stamped, added pockets, dictionary pages, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iUflsbZ_xo
step 5 - final step on putting it together - adding final embellishments and binding. again she keeps it fairly flat. she binds with 0 rings.  and shows how to fancy up the look of the orings

binding tutorial
You can use any binding you want.  The easiest appears to be punching holes and using 0-rings. Here is a link for coptic stitch.  This is where you would have to make "signatures", basically you'd make long pages and fold them in half and then sew them together.

Details of this totally awesome swap:

What Harry Potter fan wouldn't love to live in the Burrow?  A house filled with magic and love, plus a whole lot of gingers!  Harry, who has grown up in his Aunt Petunia's very tidy, very boring, and very non-magical home, falls in love with the Burrow on his first trip there, after being rescued from Little Winging by Fred, George and Ron.  There he finds an overgrown garden full of real gnomes, stacks of dishes washing themselves in the sink, endless home cooking from Molly Weasley, and rooms stacked one on top of another, seemingly by magic.  For this swap we will be crafting 1 Medium to Large, Harry Potter inspired houseware item for your partner.  The object can be any size in physical dimensions, but should take a minimum of 2-3 hours, (or more!) of crafting time.

Think beyond House Scarves or wands and into the realm of objects to cozy-up your partner's home.  These can be subtle nods to the HP books and movies, or more overtly HP-specific creations.  If you're going for subtle, how about a scrappy rag rug like Molly might make out of worn clothes?  Or a Weasely Clock for your partner to keep track of their family.  If you want to bring a little extra light into your partners home you could create a Sirius Black Quote Lamp.  If your partner's kitchen feels a bit drab, you could make them a set of HP dishcloths to warm it up.

Other ideas include:
Cross Stitched Wall Art
Crocheted House Unity Afghan
Hogwarts House Coasters
Deathly Hallows Quilt
Tale of the Three Brothers Plaque
HP Felt Coasters
Ravenclaw Baby Quilt
HP Embroidered Cloth Napkins
Philosopher's Stone Reliquary
Owl Post Hoopla
HP Paper Pieced Quilted Wall Hanging
Gryffin-ghan!
Slug & Jiggers Shrine
HP Love Tea Towels by sheepBlue
Biscuit Cutter Wind Chimes
Jelly Bowl Chandeliers
Patchwork Curtains
Free Motion Embroidery Owl Portrait
Stenciled Owl Pillow
Dumbledore Dream Catcher
Weasley Christmas Tree Skirt

I will allow people to IYP (Invite Your Partner) for this swap if they wish, but it is certainly not required.  If you wish to partner someone specific you must ask them, and then BOTH of you must send a PM expressing that wish.  Please remember that not everyone is able to swap when asked, or might not have the time/funds/desire to participate this round.  If they say no, please accept that 'no' gracefully.  You and your partner should discuss whether you want to stay on the Medium end of the crafting minimum, or if you both want to "go big" and craft something in the realm of a Large.

Please remember that communication is vital to a good swap experience! So in addition to talking with your partner, please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing within the swap thread! Per Craftster rules, you MUST post in the Swap Thread at least once, or risk being dropped from the swap.
