I made this awesome bangle from a duct tape roll.

I have large hands and I can't fit most store bought bangles. I'm also broke and I can't afford most store bought bangles. Solution= make my own. I've seen all the ribbon, modge podged, etc. bangles but when you do that to a regular old duct tape roll it doesn't have the dimension of regular bangles.

So what's a big hand girl to do? Why paper mache of course! So I did the whole paper mache thing, (newspaper + soak) + glue = nasty clay/paste! Stuck it to the duct tape roll and cranked the fan on high. A day and some squishing and shaping, sanding & scraping later I got this:

Then I painted it, and because you really can't sand away all the pits and what not I waited for the bottom coat to dry and painted again with light golden shimmery paint. Then I wiped it off. The shimmer stayed in the cracks and *chimes* a lovely bracelet that can fit me and matches the hat I'm making!

Thanks Devochka, because of you and all of your wonderful resin pieces I'm dying to try it now. I have to save up to get some, which is sad. I need a job pronto!

Thanks, I'm being really lazy and I haven't sealed it yet. Right now I'm a little worried about it getting damp-- I need to get my modge podge out pronto!

What a great idea - and there are endless ways you can decorate those too! I always felt bad tossing the end of a roll of tape but I never could think of anything to do with them before - thanks for passing on the idea!
