Brobee Amigurumi Even though I’m in my late twenties and have no children, I have a not-so-secret love affair with the kid’s show Yo Gabba Gabba. I can’t help it. There’s a party in my tummy? Seriously? How can you not think that’s the most adorable thing ever! Biz Markie teaching kids to beatbox?! Chromeo, Leslie Hall, and Amy Sedaris as guests? Except for the tiny little fact that I don’t need to be taught to not bite my friends, it’s pretty much my perfect show.

If you don’t know, Yo Gabba Gabba is a kid’s show in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia that was created by the lead singer of the ska band, The Aquabats. There are five main live action, costumed characters, lots of artfully animated song breaks, a live action music “show” with amazing guest bands, a drawing segment with Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, beatboxing with Biz Markie, kids showing off their special talents, and lots and lots of dancing. Other Craftsters must love this show as much as I do because there are tons of Yo Gabba Gabba crafts around, for kids and adults!

I’m also really loving the fact that some of the lesser characters even have projects! A Super Martian Robot Girl costume and a Gooble plush! I’m kinda bummed by how few DJ Lance Rock crafts there are, though! Can someone just make his hat for me? Pretty please? ;)

Don’t forget to check out the Yo Gabba Gabba tag (and the Brobee, Toodee, Foofa, Plex, and Muno tags, too!) for even more great projects!

I love YGG TOO!! I’m in the process of crochetting that amigurumi Brobee at the top. I’m giving it to my son for his first birthday :) I got the pattern set (of all the charachters) from http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5803213 She is super helpful and the dolls are actually pretty easy.
I’m alsmo almost done making all the decorations for my sons YGG birthday party! It will include a Google pinata, party in my tummy bean bag toss, pin the eye on muno and lots more!

My son LOVES YGG and I gotta admit, I do too! I sing the songs to him all day!

  3. Bonnie says:

My husband and I sing them too! We even do a lot of the dances, Parker just loooves it! Has anyone checked out the printables on http://www.nickjr.com? I downloaded the YGG Fathers Day card and I’ve modified it to be birthday party invitations! I’m going to put them together this weekend, I’ll have to post some pictures!

I adore Yo Gabba Gabba, I like it more than my kids do and I try to get them involved in it with me. My son has autism and we actually use a lot of their songs as “social stories” to help him remember appropriate behaviour!

  5. Amanda says:

My son has Autism and we do the same thing! He just loves it – dancing around and singing. I’m making him a Muno scarf – inspired from the Cookie Monster scarf that was on here!

Yay! I’m not alone in my Yo Gabba love! How can you not love it when John Reis (Rocket from the Crypt) is the Super Music Swami?
I wish they made the clothes that the kids wear, that’s my future project I’d like to try….

My husband my 8 month old daughter and I LOVE Yo Gabba Gabba (and the Aquabats :) )Her favorite part of the show is Biz’s Beat of the Day! I made her an amigurumi Muno and tonight I am making her a Muno t-shirt to wear to the Yo Gabba Gabba show here NYC on Sunday!! WOOOO!

I saw a post somewhere where someone had made DJ Lance’s hat with Fun Fur sometime ago.

I also love Yo Gabba Gabba. When my daughter was about 3 months old, it was the only thing that could make her stop fussing and sit in a chair for 5 minutes. She would move and groove to the songs.
She recently turned one, and honestly has lost interest in T.V. but we had a Yo Gabba Gabba birthday part for her. I made Y.G.G. invitations on scrapblog.com and I had a friend make a really great Yo Gabba Gabba cake. I loved it. I still watch the show every once in a while, my favourite is the Jack Black episode. I have it PVR’d.

  9. Jannine says:

    Ahh!
I didn’t find Yo Gabba Gabba (which I know love), until I found it was from the singer of one of my favorite bands. I know am completely in love. I have the cutest shirt that has a picture of a stomach and food saying “there’s a party in my tummy”.

  13. That is so funny. And I’m glad you already know not to bite your friends. :)

  14. Michelle says:

I am ashamed to say, as Aqua cadet# 1543, I had no idea this show was a product of the bats! I have been watching them live for over 10 years. And now I have to check this show out….

  15. ella says:

i have a brother who watches it all the time and he likes it alot.i also love it.

  16. jbenz says:

This show is complete and utter trash.
I can’t believe that ABC child TV programmers could be so ignorant of the music guide lines recommended by reputable Child Music organisations such as Kodaly Music education, Carl Orff Schulwerk, Musik Garten etc- which would all be horrified at the targeting of the youngest listeners with this appallingly tasteless, loud, obnoxious and culturally degenerated rubbish.

An interesting musical laboratory experiment was recently done: two groups of mice were assigned the same task of finding their way through a maze.
The first group was subjected to simple classical music (10 hours a day over a week), the second to acid pop à la “Yo Gabba” (also 10 hours a day over a week).

After a week, the “classical group” was 20 minutes faster. The “acid pop” group was not only 30 min slower than at the start, they had resorted to cannibalism before reaching the end of their task.
“Yo Gabba Gabba” adds acid pop accompaniment to nursery songs. Need I say more? It promotes aggression ans is totally unsuitable for this most vulnerable age group.

jbez is apparently watching some other show. The mere fact that you knew of a study or even made one up, means you have toooo much time on your hands. This show won a daytime emmy for childrens programming, who cares what musical arrangement is used? Only someone with an axe to grind would spend the time to bash a very popular show. My 6 month old loves the show and somehow I dont see him becoming overly aggresive….but then perhaps thats because hes not a mouse. Word to the wise jbez, get a clue and go watch something you DO like and then maybe you wont have to waste your time…and more importantly OURS by posting your opinion which in my view is “utter trash”

  18. twig04 says:

on a much lighter note junngrl check ebay…or toys r us they have the glasses AND hat of DJ lance

  19. kelly says:

does this mean ‘jbenz’ that my daughter will start eating me?????

  20. Kristen says:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Yo Gabba Gabba dolls that you made! My 2-year-old daughter is quite possibly their biggest fan. I was wondering if you make them and sell them anywhere? If so, I would LOVE to buy an entire set!!

    Thanks!

    Kristen
