Randomly Spotted on the Galactic Interweb…
This is so cool! Sonic Fabric is half old audio cassette tape and half cotton. Even though it’s been woven together, it still creates a sound!
Sonic fabric emits sound when you run a tape head (the little thingy inside the
tape deck that touches the tape) over it. Because the tape retains its magnetic
quality through the weaving process, it acts as a big wide band of tape.
They make little flags and neckties and you can even buy yardage. The website gives lots more info on the fun things they’ve done with this fabric and more about the fabric itself.
