Welcome to the Cutting (& Stitching) Edge! I’m Mr X Stitch and I’ll be your guide to the best in contemporary embroidery. Each week I’ll showcase someone who is rocking the world of embroidery and textiles.

——————–

Nicole Licht is a textile artist from Brooklyn, New York. She embroiders a range of subjects, but we love her mainly for her soft sculptures.

Her plush ghosts are terrific – you wouldn’t mind them floating through your hallways! This one, called Dark Cloud Spilled Guts, seems like a forlorn little fellow.

And as for the deer! Just brilliant. Mr X Stitch Towers is going to have one of these above the grand staircase one day.

Nicole’s work has been featured at Gallery Hanahou in New York, which looks like a great place if you like your contemporary embroidery. I’d be there all the time if I wasn’t on the other side of the planet.

Go and check out her Flickr stream and her etsy shop and give her the big love she deserves!

Mr X Stitch is a manbroiderer, cross stitch designer and runs www.mrxstitch.com,
the number one contemporary embroidery and needlecraft blog on the planet.
He can often be found hanging out on the Craftster needlecraft boards or at the Phat Quarter on Flickr.
