Mr X Stitch Presents: Beefranck’s Emporium – The Golden Girls
|Share the love...||
Over at Mr X Stitch we’re blessed with the services of Beefranck, the Queen of Ironic Stitching, who curates the terrific “Emporium of Embroidered Excellence and Splendiferous Stitchery”. Each week, these posts explore themes expressed through embroidery, and they’re ace. So without further ado, I welcome you to…
Today’s Emporium has been brought to you by Kiki Hyzak. Kiki made something pretty awesome. THEN she emailed Mr. X Stitch to tell him so. Mr X Stitch, knowing that the subject matter was near and dear to my heart, sent it on to me – and that, my friends, is how this Golden Girls Emporium came to be. Go put on a jacket with shoulder pads, grab a slice of cheesecake and let’s get started, shall we?
Next up is Stitch Out Loud‘s take on the ladies of the lanai.
SewSew-a-GoGo stitched this detailed portrait of the Girls. She really did a fantastic job, especially with the 80’s hair!
Of course, the girls did more than sit around and look pretty. They said a lot of things, too. Like this memorable quote stitched by sleepykins for a Mother’s Day gift.
Magpienight couldn’t choose one quote or catchphrase she loves the most from the show, so she’s stitched a whole bunch of them. She even has a section of her etsy store dedicated to Golden Girls stitches and patterns.
Although I love all of the Girls equally, I have a soft spot for Sophia since she had the best one liners and the sharpest sarcasm. So I really love this piece by Spamberly celebrating the late actress who played the role so well.
I hope you enjoyed this look at the Golden Girls in stitch. Thanks to Kiki for being the catalyst who made it happen. And remember, if you made something awesome, don’t be afraid to speak up! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or the big guy himself at email@example.com and let us know!
Beefranck is the Queen of Ironic Stitching and is responsible for a lot of stuff on www.mrxstitch.com, the number one contemporary embroidery and needlecraft blog on the planet. She is also the top selling pattern designer in the MrXStitch etsy store.
She can often be found hanging out in the Phat Quarter group on Flickr and co-hosts Emergency Pants, a podcast that is not for the faint hearted!
