Forgot Your Knitting Needles? Use Your Arms!

I saw a reference on the Craftster forum to this really interesting technique where you use your arms as knitting needles! You use really chunky yarn and it ends up having this really cool airy netted effect.

Here are a few pics of the process and what it yields:

Marta from Marta’s Yarns in Australia says she came up with this idea while trying to find a way to knit a thick knitted cord too big for any size needles.

She recommends using any chunky yarn. She sells her very own hand dyed yarns and says that her slubby yarn and flowers yarn (or alternating rows of those two) look great with this technique.

    Actually, she uses her arms and not her fingers! Could be similar though.

    Yeah, all I was saying it that is kinda along the same lines (though finger knitting isn’t really knitting, it is more like crochet) But you get the same loose weave results. Both very cool.
