Font-tastic
My favorite place to find free fonts is dafont.com. I think it’s technically a French site so if you get there and it’s in French, you can click the English link at the top to see it in English.

They have over 4,000 free fonts. And they do a great job of categorizing them as well as having a Search feature that works well for keywords that may help you located a certain type of font.

They also have a huge number of "dingbats fonts." I don’t know where this term came from but a dingbat font is a font that consists of all line art pictures. And since they are fonts, you can scaled them up or down as much as you want. Very handy for people like myself who are severely drawing-impaired.
And if that’s not enough, the site is built so that you can type in some sample text and every font that apears will spell out your chosen text.

And to be a good doobie I should mention that some of the fonts you download come with terms if usage which stipulate that you must pay the creator of the font if you are going to use it for commercial purposes. So if you are using it on t-shirts you are going to sell, for example, you must go to the creator’s website and pay for the font. I’ve found that fonts distributed through sites like this are usually very reasonably priced though.

What am I doing wrong. Every time I try to open the file it says it is corrupted. I “saved” the fonts I wanted, and then they were compressed in my received files folder. But I couldn’t open them. I tried opening them from the site and keep getting an error message (i’ve tried probably around 10) each time saying the file is corrupted. Am I doing something wrong? HELP! I love the look of these fonts – plus i love the word FREE. THANKS!
Hi! Are you on Windows or Mac? It’s been years since I used a Windows on a regular basis so this information may be a little out of date… To install a font on either Mac or PC you need to download the font, perhaps unzip it from the zip file, and copy the unzipped file into a special folder where all your fonts are stored. The exact steps differ from operating system to operating system. If you could write with what version of Windows or Mac you use, maybe someone can help with specific steps.
Here’s another great free font site that I love and use a lot. It features mostly graffiti-looking and urban fonts, but there is a good selection of other stuff too:

Thank you Leah for giving me something else to become addicted to. It wasn’t enough that you force all these crafts on me and make me a slave to them, now it’s fonts. LOL I love this site and I found the exact one that I have been searching for.
other people say “be a good doobie?” hehe my mother in law is going to die when she hears that.
Heres another great website for fonts (haven’t tried downloading yet though) that I just found somewhere on the forums.
