Decorated Guitar While much is debated about the meaning of the lyrics to “American Pie” by Don McLean, the part about “…the day the music died” is quite known to be about the deaths of rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, on February 3, 1959. A sad day in the history of music, but it can’t stay dead forever, so we shall take the anniversary of such a sad day and celebrate with music, festivities, and if you’re as crafty and creative as HSG, you can cover a completely boring guitar with an amazing glass mosaic.
Fabric Covered Guitar Okay, let’s say the glass mosaics aren’t your thing – I can understand that completely, I have a bit of an issue with breaking glass. I know it can be done safely… by other people. So maybe you take a slightly different tack, and cover a guitar in fabric like this lovely one by jeebles
Guitar painting But what if you don’t have a guitar handy to cover with anything? You could always paint a guitar! This lovely example by FoxyBlue was amazingly drawn wrong-handed (that sounds horrible, but I just mean the non-dominant hand) which apparently gave it its nice, loose look. If I drew with my non-dominant hand, I’m pretty sure it’d look like you gave a canvas and a brush to the elephant and let them have at it. But that’s just me. This worked out beautifully!
Guitar Cake Still, let’s say you haven’t a guitar and aren’t particularly artistically inclined. You can still make a guitar! A yummy, yummy guitar – like this guitar cake by mingaling88.

Or if you’re not feeling any of those projects, you can always search Craftster for other great guitar/rock and roll classic projects. There are so many great ones out there! Just put on some tunes and rock out while you ooooh and ahhhhhh over them!
