Excelente! says the Spanish teacher! :)

  4. Gimmick & Beasties says:

So cool!! But what would happen if I DID eat it? Since all the ingredients are natural, I’m assuming that the warning is more along the lines of avoiding spirit possession rather than stomach ailments. Right? Right? ;)

While the ingredients for the skull are all edible, we still recommend not eating them. When they’re set, the sugar is rock hard and royal icing isn’t pleasant tasting. If they’ve been displayed for a while, they might have picked up some dust and dirt. So even though they might technically be edible and sometimes are eaten, their use both culturally and in our example is more for decoration.

w00t! Thank you, Pam! I’m planning making these this Halloween for a friend’s Halloween-themed baby shower. Wouldn’t they be adorable with pink bows and flowers?

@Gimmick — As a person who makes sugar eggs at Easter (similar concept), Jungrrl has the right of it. For one thing they are rock hard (I mean you could serious break a tooth biting into them) and meringue powder has a slightly bitter taste. Not such good eats. :)

Day of the Dead is a wonderful celebration. Okay…won’t eat them UNTIL I pull off the beads and feathers! We love this video.

Cool project Pam – why can’t I eat them?
